  1. Empty band for a month. First fill (at 1 month) 4.4-slight restriction for a few days...couldn't eat as much as I did before but could eat anything. Second fill (at 2 months) 2.1-slight restriction for about a week, couldn't eat as much as after fill 1 but still could eat anything. Fill 3 (at 3 months) 1.4-Tight tight tight...2 weeks of mostly liquids and a few mushies, third week (this week) a little looser but still able to eat very little and a hard time with anything really "solid"...I spent days PBing and sliming but kept thinking "it'll loosen, it'll loosen" and it has...I don't want to be this tight forever but temporarily I can handle it. On the up side I've lost 8 pounds in just under 3 weeks...so, tight has some benefits. (and I'm calling next week to cancel my next fill, scheduled for a week from now, and reschedule for the first part of May) Funny enough, I actually have 8.2 cc total in my 14 cc band...if you do the math above it just doesn't add up but at my last fill she took everything out and that's what it came up to.
  2. I'm in for 10 too, that'll put me at 240...I haven't weighed 240 in, err, at least 15 years. Do we have a spread sheet going anywhere yet?
  3. Okay, I'm only saying this because I want you to succeed...just because you CAN eat something at this stage doesn't mean you SHOULD...Most of us have little or no restriction until we've had several fills. I felt virtually normal within a week after having surgery, had a fill at a month which provided a little restriction for 2-3 days, another fill at 2 months which provided a little restriction for about a week, and a third fill at 3 months which was 3 weeks ago and is still kicking my behind. You are 2 weeks post op (and lucky to have gotten a small fill already), be very careful stepping away from your current diet plan. Your body is healing and you don't really know what you can handle yet. Stick with what's approved and (particularly if you're not hungry) try not to be eating things you're not supposed too.... It's a wee bit early for you to be experimenting and trying to push the limits, get stuck sucks, hurts like hell, and being 2 weeks post op actually has the potential to do damage... Be patient and give it some time. Good luck!
  4. I was 12/16...down 44 since my pre-op started on 12/2 (12 pre-op, 32 post-op) I had brief restriction after fill 1, was good for about a week after fill 2, and now fill 3 (2 1/2 weeks ago) has kicked my butt, it's finally starting to ease up a bit but it's been a couple weeks straight of liquids and mushies. Anything I can do to help?
  5. Betsy-thoughts and prayers with you, crossed fingers and toes...you get it all. Elfie-ewww, ewww, ewww, ewww....(and not about the asparagus) Bobbie-Surprise! Multiple Bobbie Wallis' too...try this Welcome to Facebook | Facebook hopefully this will narrow it down a bit for ya. Windows open and just gorgeous outside. With the except of the tornado issue and mosquito problems spring time in Arkansas is amazing!
  6. My first thought on this was "I call bull shit"...that it was just BS to get something started, however, I've gone back and read some on Baker's old posts and am now VERY concerned this might be real...there are a lot of posts on distance and money from last year.... BB, oh please, I hope you're just messing with people, if this is true you are playing a very dangerous game. I'm a physician assistant with many years of experience in the medical field and a port that is easily accessed and wouldn't dream of doing this...the risks are just outrageous.
  7. If it makes you feel any better, I'm 3 months post post and had a scoop from baskin robbins for dinner tonight...not something I do on a regular basis by any means but we were on the way home from soccer practice, it was getting late, I was getting hungry, blah blah blah...AND I don't feel even a little guilty about it Don't be so hard on yourself, dust yourself off and start again tomorrow. Good luck!
  8. I "felt" the first fill...on an empty band, I could feel the fluid snake through. My port is on the right side and I could feel the fluid wiggle across, somewhat like I would imagine worms under the skin...FREAKY. Since the first fill I haven't felt anything during the fills. My NP pulls all the fluid out then puts it back in plus some and then has you drink...she typically fills it to the point the water sticks then backs off so while I don't "feel" it, I know it's there. Be patient...I know it's easy for me to say but it does get better, each fill I was a little tighter for a little longer. Two weeks out from fill #3 I'm still extremely tight so every step of the way it does get better. Good luck!
  9. Go Leigha go!!! 150, in my dreams. I hope you're proud of yourself young lady! Anne, I am SO sorry, I can't imagine the angst you're feeling right now. I still think the waiting is the hardest part, pre-op sucked, bandster hell sucked...but at least you're DOING something at that point...the waiting just plain old sucks. Keep your chin up, you're doing great and feel free to whine at any point. I'm on facebook as Christie Reid, I don't play many of the games but if you need a neighbor, friend, whatever, send me a request, I might not send much but you can at least use me.
  10. I love, love, LOVE this time of year. It's not pitch black when we get home in the evening and it's not so hot and humid that you start sweating the second you walk out the door. After work, the boy and I went for a bike ride and played on the school playground (swinging is a heck of a work out FYI). It was just lovely. Also, on a good note. Steve behaved himself fairly well today. Not that I got wild and crazy and tried to eat, well, meat but I think I made it the entire day pain and slime free, woohoo! I've also decided to name my port Eileen, as a tribute to my really bad taste and love of 80s music. A few lyrics from the song: These people round here wear beaten down eyes Sunk in smoke dried faces they're so resigned to what their fate is, But not us, no not us we are far too young and clever... In a way, how I feel, for years was resigned to my fate of fat and lonely, and miserable, but no more! So, enough of that. Happy Monday to ya all!

My first was 4.4..in a 14 cc band (second was 2.1, I think, and third was 1.4 which now has me EXTREMELY tight). It varies a lot from surgeon to surgeon as well as from patient to patient.
  12. So, maybe our next sub-group should be Fartaholics anonymous? About 2 months post-op my burping got less dramatic...I still burp (a lot) but it's not typically the type that echo in the hallway any more...I sort of miss those, they impressed my 5 year old son. Alas, the other end has not improved. I find myself ducking into empty rooms and closets a lot to "look for things". I can only imagine what horrible impact my gas releases are having on the environment and global warming. P.S. If you see me coming out of an empty room, under no circumstances should you enter.
  13. I'm with the above...as long as you can drink you'll be okay, if you're hungry and having difficulty not eating you may want a little unfill, but keep in mind things tend to loosen after a week or two. I'm 2 weeks out from fill #3 which has been kicking my butt...things have improved over the last 2 or 3 days and today is the first day I've had where I had no "stuck" feeling all day long.... Good luck!
  14. Anne-someday soon you too will have baggy panties! We got home from Ohio about 3 hours ago, laundry started but stacked to the ceiling waiting its turn. I love my family and we enjoyed our time away but I am SOOOO glad to be home again! Steve is still fickle, to say the least. He has until next weekend to mellow out, that'll be 3 weeks from the fill, if I'm not doing a little better with food by then I'm getting a little taken out. I cannot believe I'm even considering having anything taken out!!!! It seems so totally wrong to be whining about being over tight! I do think it's loosened up a tad and now that I'm home and can control what's for dinner a little better hopefully things will get better. Can't wait 'til tomorrow! Nothing is better than the first day of work after you've been off for a while, bleh. Have a great week everyone!
  15. Bob-Japanese Hibachi is what kicked my ass last night too...I may avoid it again FOREVER. I'm proud of you. It took me over 3 months to have a major public PB and you've done it in a matter of weeks. I feel like such an amateur!!! I love this board. I feel like I can come here and say whatever is bugging me (i.e. droopy bras) and no one is going to jump on my back and start yelling at me for whining. Thank you all so much for that! It's nice to have a safe haven where I can be happy or sad, corny or mad and just let it all out. :tt1:
  16. Ironic that I'm the one who said no more snow talk and am sitting in my aunt's living room watching my son play outside in the SNOW...now I know why I haven't been back to Ohio since infancy. (It IS pretty but COLD) Steve is being a pain in my ass. I had my first public incident yesterday driving home from dinner, was having the pressure and such, thought I was going to burp and then bleh, had to jump out of the car at a stop light and give up the goods. Mortifying. Totally. I'm giving it another week and if things don't settle down gonna have to break down and do a slight unfill. I think I've had 1 meal in the last week that stayed down comfortably....and ice cream cake...my birthday cake went down fabulously, it was wonderful! Even with eating the stuff I'm supposed to and eating tiny bites slowly, it's still almost always an issue. Have a great weekend. And to those of you that have just found us, welcome to the club!!!!
  17. Have a lovely week and weekend everyone. I'm running away to Ohio to visit family for the last part of Connor's spring break and won't be back 'til Sunday. Steve (my band) is still giving me heck from the fill last week so I'm curious to see how I'll do eating what other people make and praying I don't spend the whole time miserable. Have a lovely time and no more talk of that snow stuff. We didn't get any but my best friend who is in NW Arkansas (couple hours away) got 8 inches...in March...the week of spring break, that's just bizarre. Hey, maybe Ohio has better bra selections than AR?!?!!! Off I go!
  18. I have a rough goal of 160, however that's not written in blood...I'm shooting for healthy and comfortable in my own skin (for the first time ever...). If I get to 175 and like how I look and feel, and am comfortable with how I'm eating and exercising I'll consider it a success....If I get to 160 and am still comfortably losing I'll continue on. I'm so far away I just can't really look down the road a hundred pounds and say "that's my number!" Good luck!

You'll do great and can't wait to hear how you're doing tomorrow. The naked thing...I understand completely. The first thing I asked when they finally got me to a room (my doc requires an overnight stay) was if I could PLEASE put on my underwear.... Not can I have pain meds or can I have a drink but Please of please give me my drawers!!! Good luck!
  20. I think part of it is how the general public views bariatric surgery. *I* think a lot of people look at us and say "well, if she really wanted to she could lose it, she's just not trying hard enough". Also, part of it was like giving up and accepting the fact that I could not, would not, cannot lose weight without assistance, permanent assistance. Some people may view that as failure and now be willing to deal with it. Just my thoughts, everyone in my life has been supportive and I've yet to hear the "oh, I wish you hadn't done that" that so many of you have heard. Good luck on those last 10!!!
  21. It's 43 and gray and misting...great day to be inside, curled up with a book. Which is exactly how I intend to spend the day. Maybe not the most exciting Sunday ever but I'll enjoy every second of it.
  22. Be VERY careful. I've had 3 fills and with 2 of them was tighter the second or third day.
  23. I'm sort of with HB. While I'm eating healthier and being more active, I can't imagine a point where I'll ever not need the band giving me a "friendly reminder" that it's time to stop eating... I can say I had some restriction after I got the band before I got a fill so I assume you'll have a little even if it's empty.
  24. I know we're doing this for ourselves...but it is oh so nice to hear isn't it? Congrats!!!
  25. First congrats on being banded! My surgery was in December so I'm out a bit but after the second or third day I could drink an entire Protein shake without difficulty as well....Until you get a few fills and really get some restriction going you probably won't notice a difference. I've tried a couple different protein powders and didn't like either, either chalky or had an after taste. My doc actually prefers you eat your protein rather than drink it (solid food sits in the pouch longer and keeps you full...) so I only do the shakes for a couple days after a fill then I get my protein from real food....sorry I can't be more help! Good luck!
