Do I Need a Fill?
Most Dr's want you to heal for 6 weeks before you get your first fill. I would call and check with his office.

4TH FILL! feeling discomfort!!!!
I had my 4th fill on Thursday. I ate chicken noodle soup last night and I was OK then about 10 min later I took a drink of tea and that got stuck. Maybe the noodles swelled up? I think I will leave the Chicken Noodle alone for a while.

4TH FILL! feeling discomfort!!!!
My fill nurse says only clear liquids for 2 days and then only mushies for 2 days. Did your soup have anything in it? Or was it thick like potato?

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Could use regular encouragement
Judy, We are glad your here. I personally got the band because I have portion control issues. Once I started eating I couldn't stop until I had 2 plates of food. I was always hungry. If you don't mind me asking, what type of eater are you? (Such as too much at one time, a little bit at a time but too many times a day, all carbs, too much sugar, etc?) What about fills? How has your follow up care been? I believe in head hunger but I also believe in body hunger too. There are a lot of people on this site going through the same feelings....

Abdominoplasty before hitting goal weight?
I would start the insurance process. At the rate you are losing you will probably be close to goal when the 3 months are up. Besides you can delay the surgery at that time if you decide to, that will give you 3 months to make up your mind and get a professional opinion from the PS.

So It's True...Haters will emerge as you lose!
Betsy, I've never seen you be so blunt......I LIKE IT!:tongue_smilie:

I signed, not that I think it will do any good. Anyone with the ability to say these things is too big a narcissist to resign. Then again, maybe he should stay in office. He is a very good example of the bigotry of the GOP, he is a gift (to the democrats) that keeps on giving.

Health Care
I had my surgery on 10/20/09 it is working wonderfully for me. My main problem with my weight was portion control, which the band is perfect for. But before the band I could (and did) eat 2 full plates of food at one sitting, the band physically stops that from happening. This is what I attribute to my success so far. I don't drink sodas, I gave up beer forever, my husband or I cook almost every meal from scratch and we rarely eat out, I don't snack, I don't eat any processed foods, bread, or pasta. This is what I could do for better results. I don't exercise like I should. Sometimes when my husband has cooked something really good, I will let my food settle and go back for seconds and make myself sick. Stubborn I guess. :cool2: Good luck with your surgery, I know you have done your homework and you will get what you want from the band. I think that is what this is about. Some people want to be in a bikini and some just want to lose some and feel better. You decide what you want to put in it and what you want to get out of it. :tongue_smilie:

Very Fustrated!
I know how you feel. I actually gained weight between my surgery and first fill. I over eat that is why I had lap band but remember if they could just put it in and have it work it wouldn't even have the port. Fills are more important than the band itself. By the way I paid for my band too so I thought holy crap! a $10k failed diet! but no, just as soon as I started getting fills I started dropping weight. I am averaging 2 lbs a week (and that means 4 lbs one week and none the next) but I try and keep the long term in mind. And yes I was starving until I started to get my fills. You are in what everyone calls bandster hell. Ride it out. Don't give up. When is your first fill?

Getting a Fill Finally!!! YAY!
I was glad to see the part about a new doctor. You couldn't get in because of an insurance change? They risked your health just to make sure they were going to get paid? But on to a more positive note, if my math is right your still down 35 pounds or so? I don't know about you but I gained almost every year of my adult life, so you have a wonderful head start and with a re commitment you can do as well as before. Congratulations on your fill.

Ideas? Advice?
Fish works really well for me, it doesn't have a lot of connective tissue so it goes down soft. Its what I use for a few days after a fill. Sam's has individually frozen fillets in the freezer section that aren't to expensive.

PURE STAGE- how many ounces with each meal??
I tried to keep all my meals equal to or less than 1 cup. And I measured so I was sure. If I still felt hungry I would eat again in 2-3 hours but I was so worried about stretching my stomach that I was strict about the amount. I don't know if it helped but it didn't hurt! :tongue_smilie:

Hello! Hello! New here...
I was self pay in Dallas with Dr Kim at Forest Park. It was $10,200 with 6 months fills at Forest Park. I think he does it for $9500 without the fills. If you decide to travel, I recommend finding a local fill Dr first. I have my fills done under floro and I think it makes a big difference. I think the people who have the least success don't have a plan for the fills before they have surgery. I believe the fills are more important than the band itself. By the way, its worth every dollar.

Ab Equipment....
I am a craigslist junkie and I have seen these on there, maybe you can get one really cheap.

When people say things like that it all I can think is...if your god would intentionally give a baby a disability based on the actions of the mother, I don't want to "accept him in my heart" he isn't worthy..........

Any Regrets?
I am very happy with my band but sometimes I am eating something and I am loving it so much then the band says "Don't take another bite OR ELSE" and I start pouting. My husband will look at me and can even tell by my expression that I am disappointed. (He is the cook) But these feelings are fleeting and what I was enjoying was not nearly as cool as fitting into clothes that I couldn't wear for the last 10 years. So basically it depends on what is important to you. (be honest with yourself) Some people would rather enjoy food than be thin, if that is the case don't get the band. If you are willing to sacrifice the ability to eat as much of something as you want and you are willing to go to smaller portions the band might be for you.

Newly banded - how do you gain weight after lapband?
I gained weight between my surgery and my first fill. I thought I had wasted my $10k (self pay). But since then I started getting fills and I have been losing an average 2 lbs per week. Don't worry right now. You should be healing your body. Once you are eating regular foods and start getting fills then you will have restriction and start losing (as long as you are eating the right things).

Totally devastated
Tell your girl at work she can kiss my @$$. We were banded a week apart and I have lost 37 lbs as well. Thats 37 hard won pounds that are not coming back and I am proud of each and every one of them. Isn't it weird how other people are threatened by our weight loss?
