  1. Wow I know this is a scary topic to talk about.. I have learned a lot in these couple of months that I have been on the board. I have a question though. Has anyone had or currently have a ulcer on their staple line.. For me this is really scary. I asked my doc about 150 question so far and this is the only question I forgot to ask.. If anyone has had a ulcer. What is the treatment for it and how have you been doing since it was discovered? I don't think this is going to change my mind on the surgery but it is something that I would like to put my mind at peace before going in.
  2. ourborous, I have been heavy all my life and I know it hurts when people always made fun of me for my weight or when they turn up their nose at you. It really hurts your self esteem and when you get hurt so many times I guess it just really sticks with you and you carry it along with you. I think the turning point is when someone you don't know actually looks at you with interest other than kindness or someone whistles or flirts with you..You have done such an incredible job getting the weight off..The compliments will come..If you have only friends that knew you when you were overweight finds some friends that never knew you were overweight. I try to use my self as an example because I am not you and I don't want to ever make anyone feel something that they don't..Be safe my friend and slow down and take alook around you. Someone you don't know may have an eye on you and you don't know it..
  3. Awesome!! Just simply awesome Diva.. Wow you look incredible..Got a question for you though what is going on with all your tickers.. LOL I have a hard time actually figuring how much weight you have actually lost. But looking good girl!!!
  4. Guess you covered them all..Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Will be doing this next year. 1/18 Start liquid diet.. Big day February !st..
  5. me two weeks. They say it is to make you liver smaller.. My first week I have two protein shakes and I meal (example.4 ounces chicken 3 ounces of veggies) all the chicken broth jello. The second week I get 4 protein shakes per day and chicken broth, sfjello,sf popsickles and all the water I can get!!!! I know it is going to be some suffering but the sugery itself is worth it..
  6. Gnc has got a protein with 60 grams of protein. I really don't know what it taste like. My doctor recommended a protein with no more that 20 grams of protein in it.. and no more than 150 calories with little or no carbs.
  7. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.. The new 168 looks good on you ..Congrats
  8. The doctor nurse will give you the heprin as a precaution on the blod clot thing. When you get back from surgery get up and walk as soon as possible. You will want to try to move that gas that the doc pumps in you doing you laproscopic procedure. It also help blood circulate..You will do fine.
  9. so true tiff. I was told by doc when I had gall blatter removed that I was suffering from lesions. Apparently when my incisions were healing they created a lot of scar tissue and sometimes it pulled and caused stabbing pains. The C02 really sucks too..You hurt really bad and it just seems to take a long time for all the gas to move..
  10. Your absolutely right bon bon. When little things happen it is a wonderful thing to our self esteem. I feel like if our self esteem was ever damaged by people it is reclaimed in every little sucess we have at losing weight. When we give or for that much get comments on our sucesses it is a awesome feeling and makes us want to continue with the fight we are here for. good luck your doing awesome..
  11. You know when I finally made the decision to do the sleeve. I had people question me telling me that I could do this without surgery. I told them yep I probably could lose some weight and then just keep putting it back on. It really suck how much it just seems to come back no matter what you change or do.. Emotionally it really sucks because you keep thinking how much of a failure you are. The damage it does to your self esteem time and time again is soo damaging to you outlook on life itself. People that don't have weight related issues just don't understand and most of them are just too damn ignorant to know how much we struggle with our self image. I admire your strenth when facing these obsticles. It is really important for you to realize it is your decision not matter what anyone says. I tell people all the time I am telling you for the simple reason of letting you know what is going on. I am not telling you for the advice I think you should give me. Good luck girl and always remember you have us to lean on no matter what.. Go February Sleevers!!!!! You Rock!!!!
  12. Yep don't turn down the free relaxing drugs..They are awesome you wll look at whoever is with you with that glazed eyed look and not have a care in the world. Nothing like it...
  13. I was told by my doc At least 5 weeks but am taking off 6 weeks for my sugery. I pull over 2000 cases per day up to 50lbs per box. so doc don't want me to injury myself.
  14. I am just as worried I am not going to be prepared when I have to start my liquid diet. I am using gnc 100%whey protein. I have also planned to get soltron chewable vitamens by gnc. they also want me to take calicum carbon so gnc also has liquid calicum to start. When I am a few months out of surgery I plan to go to pill vitamens. I hope this helps you some. I have heard from others that get gas x strips. a small pillow for your stomach there is a lot of prep ideas on this forum..good luck
  15. Lorie I took chantex it really helped me soo much I don't think I could have done it cold turkey.. good luck with the quit smoking thing I am just glad that I don't have to do it again..probably is one of the hardest things to do..
  16. That is so great!!! I was dissapointed that they moved up my surgery until February. He told me that they would do a urine test on me to make sure that I was 100% nicotine free. Its was really my fault but you learn by making mistakes. I am in the process of talking to one of my doctors patients who has had the surgery. I will get some good insight from him I hope. February is going to be a awesome Month for Sleevers.
  17. havent had sugery yet but surgeon has already gave me scripts for liquid pain meds. IT Seems to me that it would be so much easier to take a liquid that a pill considering what just happened to your body..Good luck
  18. I hope that this is going to be the biggest month. They have moved me to Feb 1 due to my stuggle with cigerettes.. I think I have finally broke the chains that has made it so hard to quit..I look forward to everyday and all the challenges it gives. I start my pre op diet on the 18th of January. I have been soo struggling with all my feelings inside about this and the surgeon has helped me with all the unanswered question.. Thanks to all that has supported and been there with good advice..I look forward to feb 1st..
  19. I got approved by cigna and with all the requirements met it only took me 4 days. I turned the paper work on Friday and I was approved by the Thursday of the next week...I know there are different branches of Cigna but I know that sometime in 2008 they posted that they would pay for the sleeve for the first time..Good luck and hope ya get there soon..
  20. I was told by my doctor that the coffee would not count toward my water intake. They said that I could drink decaf and it would .. It really all depends on what doc you have. My doctor says that every doctor is different. My guilty pleasure is Diet cokes and I know that I will have to go with decaf tea or water. But as soon as I get good enough with water intake I plan to drink coffee and all the water they require. good luck with your journey
  21. I had my pre op appointment with the doctor today and I really did something stupid..I know that you were not to smoke 2 months prior to surgery. Well you know last month had a little slip. The reason why I slipped was i was reading his web sight about him as a doctor and that he required that people having surgery had to at least not smoked for at a minimal of a month. Wrong!!! He said 2 and so he cancelled my sugery for the end of december. God why must I hold on to things for the last very possible second.. Well I am done with the smoking thing so now I have to pick my self up and dust myself off and move forward.. I know this really sucks because he moved my surgery to the 1st of February.. Well at least I have a date a goal. Thanks for all of your support.
  22. I really didn't tell but a select few from my friends..They just don't understand that we don't want to talk about the sugery we just want them to understand that we are having it.. Nothing more nerve racking that someone who is a professional about the body and how we should just push our plate away.. I understand I really really do.. I too wish that people wasn't soo shallow and hopeless..
  23. You know I have been reading the VSC forum for a while now. With all the know problems with the band who would would want to commit to it with all it known problems. I choose the vsg and really soon I hope that it happens for me.
  24. Looks like as it stands I will be on a liquid diet during Christmas...yay for me..but I guess if I can get through it I will be a better person..I hate as alot say that going to be hard with sweets and such..my weakness but I know that I will have all the support I need to make it thought this difficult time. Any I know There are rays of sunshine coming through the dark clouds.. I will beat this and I will become the person I want to be.. congrads on the 3 days of success. I am cutting the carb as we speak getting ready for the ultimate no carb diet for 2 weeks
  25. I have mine sometimes in December I have my last appointment with my Surgeon in December the 8th. I should have a concrete date for my sugery after meeting with the sugeon. Is anyone out there as scattered as me.. One minute I am thinking in my head wow this is the best thing that I could do for my self and the next minute I think what the world am I thinking about doing. Then I think I need to do this for my health. I just stay in right field and I don't get many balls hit towards me...LOL
