  1. well put foxbins I am trying my best to stay aways from any carbs..We decided to have this surgery to lose not weight not to go backwards and start gaining it back..I will eat healthy complex carbs but they don't consist of white rice bread or chips.. Most healthy carb come from fruits and veggies..Good luck
  2. Yep you will get headaches for a couple of days but after that it is not really that bad..I personally didn't start to the doctor told me to start..It does suck really bad and I am on the last day of liquids before surgery but I still want something to eat but it is not so bad that I can't control it..Biggest thing I guess is the will power it takes to not eat..for me I didn't cheat one time and I feel really good about that, Hang in there it will get better I promise you..Good luck and keep us posted
  3. I know myself if I was to attempt any fried food right now I would be right to the bathroom. It has been such a long time since I have had fried, so I know that I am not going to even attempt fried after the sleeve. I know it will not end well for me. Two I think she was talking about potatos or potato wedges when she said jo jo's. Anyway fried is out for me.
  4. There are soo many healthy addictions out there. Volunteer at church or homeless shelter. Getting new hobbies like golfing ,flying model airplanes, putting puzzles together..Shopping.. . I hope that helps you out. There are soo many bad habits you could form to replace the food your not getting, but I am trying to get involved with something before surgery so I will have a outlet (a plan before it becomes an issue)...Good luck and not all habits are bad..
  5. First of all be proud of yourself you have had incredible weight loss..4.5 average for 11 weeks....Wow!!!! From reading things from Tiffkins I have learn the best way to break a stall is to throw the body something that it is not used too..Adjust your caloric intake, reduce the number or carbs your consuming by half.. Your body is a everlearning so once you get on a routine your body learns to adjust to the progam. Say if you ran 1 mile every day for example your body would get used to running that one mile and you would have to increase the distance that you ran to make your body burn more calories.. If you have a routine you have to throw the body a different routine for a week or two in hopes of breaking the stall..I look forward to reading your posts in the future, but for me I truely am impressed with your weight loss.
  6. That is really great. I never have tried greek yougurt so I really don't know what it tastes like. Getting your girls hooked on healthy things is always a good way to go..
  7. good luck I'm in on Tuesday..please keep us posted
  8. Is there any good tasting vitamins out there. I hate the taste of the vitamins that I have and I just don't know if Im going to get used to them before surgery..What is the possibility of taking a non chewable vitamin after surgery. Is it hard to swallow pills and get your nutrition that way..I am soo struggling with this..Does the gummies tast better than the waffers.. I just don't want to start gagging on the taste fresh out of surgery..
  9. I am glad I am not the only one that is getting scared about our surgery. I go in on the 1st and the closer it gets the more bad dreams and nervous I get. I wish the day would just come and go so I can get some sleep and not be so emotional. It will be here before you know it.
  10. Well I take Gnc solotron chewable Mulitviamins they have 100% iron,B-6 and B-12. I will be getting chewable calicum 2 weeks out of surgery. Tiffkins has been taking these vitamins and she has had really good blood work when she had to get her levels checked.. good luck
  11. Wow congratulations and welcome aboard. I am having my sugery on the 1st of February so it is really close to me.. I will give you some advice though. The first two day on your liquid diet just really sucks..After that your body adapts quite quickly. Good luck you will do fine.. For me I am just as scared, but I know that I too have struggled with my weight and I know that I am doing the right thing. I have a feeling after sugery your family will support you more.. Good luck and please keep us posted..
  12. wow thanks for the good info I am in surgery the 1st of february and I am taking all of these things in..They say the more information you have the better your off. Thanks
  13. yep I already did 2 weeks of liquids 2 more isn't really going to be that much harder..I do not I mean do not want a leak . My doc told me to follow the plan and he is almost sure that I will not have a problem. But if I vary he is very cautious and don't want to take any unneccesary risks of developing a leak.. If it was me I would follow post op to the letter.
  14. Wow that is an amazing story I will be going in February 1 So thanks so very much for sharing..Please keep us posted
  15. wow!! planner girl I had a wreck on the way to my pre sugery visit..I was meeting the surgeon and asking question.. It is funny the surgeon said well I would almost take that as a sign not to have the surgery..It didn't change my mind..Any way we talked and at that point I knew that he was an awesome surgeon..good luck
  16. I would say you have to get used to the protein powder right now the best one that I have found is the gnc wheybolic amplified. It has a very good taste and is blended with two different proteins so that it is a finer powder..not as chalky. It truely is the best out there for me right now .. But as the thin one says if you make it with skim it tastes creamier. you can also add sugar free choclate syrup with it and make it actually taste a lot better..Also if you want nutritional value it has 20 of proteins per scoop and I think around 80 calories and very low on carbs..good luck I know it sucks looking for new protein suppliments. I don't know about all doctors but mine said that if I had to opened up he would not release me for 5 weeks. But for me i do a lot of lifting and moving etc....Good luck and let us know how your progress..
  17. I am getting sleeved on the 1st of February and know what you mean by being scared.. I Think of it quite often. I try to stay busy doing things I have a lot of home projects to close before I go in. I cant make you feel any better about the surgery, but I know that the complications of being overweight out weighs the risk of having surgery. I want to see my grandkids and live to a ripe old age.. I don't really want to die of weight related problems.
  18. best thing to do is get a 5 pound weight and test to see what the digital one says if it says 5 pounds then I would say the manual one was wrong got to keep these this calibrated..any I hope that helps
  19. Yep..Dr. Spaw is such a good people person that is very true..He actually seems to care about you. He is just awesome I told my wife about him and she seemed to be really impressed by him and the things I told her about him..I went to one of the support groups and if you and me go it seems that we are probably going to be the only two that has had vsg. I might be wrong but most of the people if not all of them has had RNY. But the people are still nice and they are very informative. Oh, by the way I live in Lebanon,Tn so about 20 miles to nashville. I am going in on the 1st for my surgery so I will keep all the forum posted on my progress..
  20. I am a poster boy for what you are saying I too am having my suger on the 1st of February and I have to change too..I do understand at what you are going through, but you have to realize you have to make a step to be a better you. This is a journey with a long road to a better you. A you with little or no problems from being overweight . Good luck and please keep us posted..
  21. You yourself has to own this.. It is really up to you who you tell.. I told three people at my work and my wife's family the others at my work are back stabbers and I really don't care if they know.. You can pass it of as Tiff says by saying I'm just eating really really healthy..It is really up to you and I wish you all the luck..
  22. Wow dr spaw is doing my surgery and I have heard by many many people that he is the best. I went to pre admissions and one of the nurses that worked for him was his nurse in surgery for a long time. She told me that if any one was going to work on her it would be Dr. Spaw ..Sorry for rambling on it is wonderful that all of us can meet. Most of these people are from Texas and out west . I just wanted to meet some people close and maybe be friends as well as give support to one another while we are struggling...It is a please to meet both of you two..This site is awesome as far as the support...
  23. You know at one time I weighed 408 pounds went to la weightloss for 8 months and lost to 343 now I am back to 383. The doctor told me I needed to lose weight. My joints are getting bad due to weight loss and I have sleep apnea and borderline diabetes. I truely don't see my health getting better, in fact it is getting worse. It really all depends how long you are willing to live with your issues that deal with how much overweight you are. Me I am taking a leap of faith and making a step on a path that I don't know. A healthy path for my life!!!
