  1. They best I have found is Wheybolic extreme 60 from gnc. It is a finer blend so it is whey and soy based and it is awesome. I have the vanilla just by itself it taste really good. I am on my liquid diet right now and I can't do a lot of experimenting with fruit so right now it tastes good with water and even better with skim milk. I look forward mixing them with fruit and blending it with ice and making smoothies. good luck. I would suggest since you are soo far out to get a couple of different brands and taste test. I have had Julian micheals whey protein from wal mart..it is gross
  2. yep seems like cigna is the best for covering this and getting it approved fast.. I sent all my information in on monday and got approved by Friday..February the 1st for me. I got approved in late november and I just had a incredible time getting of Cigs..Smoking is really hard to break ..but this is all behind me now and I am looking forward to my new life..
  3. That is just awesome. Great to hear you are doing so well..I hope to see ya posting here often. I too think that the pain is coming from the hernia that you had repaired. I know from everyone who posted here that your pain and strength will get better daily. So good luck and keep us posted in your progress.. Mine is February 1st..on my liquid diet right now.
  4. I was just wondering if there was any Nashville sleevers. I live close to Nashville and looking for some close by friends to chat with or email..
  5. Well I will tell you from experience that you have to put your mind in doing this.. I am on liquid 2 week diet right now and I know for certain that I am going to miss my food. You have to realize that we are 99% the same as you. I was told by my nurse when you are ready you will know it.. You get to a point where you are sick to death of being overweight. You are sick of the comments ;the eyes that say it all when they look at you. When you get ready for the change you will be strong and do it with no problem. Good luck and I will say the people on here are wonderful. They answer and comment on everthing that you will ever need to know..
  6. February 1st here. I am on my liquid diet right now 13 more days!!! I am really really struggling with my diet I will either get through it or it will kill me one..LOL Any way I am remaining positive and being strong. February sleever freakin Rock!!!!!Good luck to all I guess I will be the first to be sleeved in Feb unless there is somone else out there..
  7. There is nothing really you can do unless you go to a place with steak and veggies on the kids meal.. I would suggest either bringing you own food or enjoy left overs the next day..
  8. We as people always take the easy way out.. If our hands are not forced we are creatures of habit. You would get you 100 mill and by the next year you would weigh a time and a half more than you weigh now. This surgery is to force you to control what eat so that it is not soo easy to shove stuff that is not good for you in. Trust me if you eat the things that you souldn't then yes your weight loss will be a lot less. It eliminates your hunger so much it makes you think what you are putting in your mouth and you make a lot better choices on what you eat..
  9. You will have to up your calorie intake to start losing.. I have a feeling that you are in starvation mode...I have heard that the optimal caloric intake is from 1000 to 1200. Some please correct me if I'm wrong.. I know that you are only two weeks out but you have to be patient.. Make sure you are getting your water intake and work on the protein intake..You will be losing before you know it..good luck
  10. I am so glad that I am not a bread eater..I love the sweets but I can control that on my own...I know after my surgery I wlll get to eat bread one day it doesn't matter to me if I eat it again..
  11. I will be the first to post to this..I have been told time and time again that this is nothing more than a weight loss tool. Myself I am a big eater I have choosen this surgery to help me restrict what I eat so I can control the quality of food I intake.. This surgery is not a given to lose weight if you don't eat the right things. Proteins first and complex carbohydrates second. The biggest thing about this surgery that it controls hunger in two ways It almost elimates the hunger hormone and it restricts how much you eat. Saying that if you don't control what you eat and you chose to eat all carbs and slider foods you probably wont be as successful in your weigh loss quest. Good luck
  12. after surgery defintly a no no. I love the fruit carbonated Water from wal-mart it has no sugar it is awesome..I don't really think I will miss all of the carbonation cause I drink a lot of tea
  13. I wish I could help ya I haven't had my surgery yet. I am due to get my done February the 1st. You shoudn't have any problem with support or friends here. Good luck please keep us posted on your progress..
  14. My doc told me to quit smoking 2 months before and 3 months after so that the nicotene would not cause problems with healing..He told me after my stomach heals he didn't really care if . smoked my self to death..Any way he told me that to not drink till your at least 3 months out. We are really glad to have Tiff she is so knowledable about the do's and don't. It is really good to know about the red wine though..I drink it for my heart so I too am a causel drinker as well. If you truely want to do this for yourself you can overcome any obsticle..
  15. In the same boat with ya!!!! I feel scared nervous, excited and all the other emotion that you speak of..lol . There is a lot unknown and you have to trust your surgeon that he is going to steer you in the right direction. yep sugery 2 times suck but hey the second time is the time you really wanted. I stay so mixed up inside all the time but I take a look at where I am and where I wanna go and all the confusion subsides. I want to be a healthier person, so I am closing my eyes and stepping into the unknown. It is a worth while endevor for me..
  16. I am using short-term and fmla for my surgery. I don't know how your short term works but mine I get 1 week pay for every year of service that I have. I have 16 years so I guess 16 weeks of pay is plenty of time to be off. I am a heavy lifter at my warehouse so the doc put me out for 6 weeks. 6 weeks of 100% pay who can go wrong with that. YOu need to get with your human resources and find out the deets on your short term. who knows they might pay 100%. Anyways good luck
  17. Finally had a setback with doctor he said that he was delaying my surgery because I could not get off my smoking.. I finally just got really sick of smoking I was taking chantix and finally I just got mad and put them down. It was really hard but I can say it is one of the worst things to quit. Seems that my doc said that he would do a urine test and make sure that I was nicotene free before sugery.. I probably would still be smoking right now if it wasn't for that.. He did tell me for the healing it was impairative to quit..
  18. Oh god I am the poster boy for smoking...lol I tried to quit like 300 times.. I did manage getting off them with Chantix. You can do it don't give up on yourself before you even start..You have to stand firm because you can smoke on chantix. You have to do it for yourself. If your will is to have this surgery and make yourself more healty then you can do it..Not eating is temporary. From all the posts I have been reading your will to eat is almost gone when you have this surgery..The doctor said after about three months I could drink a little. But it is very limited..I wish you all the luck in make your decesion. But do realize that the peeps on this forum are very understanding and full of great advise as well as support.. good luck
  19. I never had the band but I really don't think by reading all the negative things about it, it is for me..There seem to be more bad things about the band than good.. After 3 years there are a lot more complications by reading the lap band forum . I chose the sleeve.
  20. Wow thanks for the comments on this issue. Your truely right tiff I am more concerned of the death part of it..Leaks can be fixed death is permanent. I hope when I go in that I don't have to deal with either one..
  21. When you ask a surgeon about leaks why does he always say that he has had only one leak?? I have read so many post here when they talk about their sugeons and their surgeons said that they have only had one leak too. I really hope these surgeons are that good. I know the statistics say that only 1% leak. Any commits??
  22. I have always said that the decision is yours not matter if you are 5 pounds overweight or 200 pounds overweight. In the grand scheme of things yourself has to be at piece with the decision to have this surgery. If you tell your family you might be really surprised who supports you . Taking the first step is always the hardest one to take..No matter what happens we will always be here to support you..
  23. I know that this is hard to control but you need to be strong.. Always remember what you are doing this for and have a set day to have a last supper before your liquid diet. for me it is going to be a filet mignon, mashed potatoes, asparagus a salad and a molten lava cake..I know that I will miss the foods that I used to desire but I know what I am doing this for. My health and being here for my grand kids is worth everything. I think the doc told me it was called suvivor eating..anyway good luck and stay strong..
  24. Very true. I do realize that being overweight is really serious for your health. I don't have any major problems other than joint pain and have a knee blown out already.. They did say it was because of my weight.. I am really scared (not afraid to admit that). I guess what I need to do is close my eyes and take that first step.
  25. Tiff don't get me wrong it scares me to death that I would develop one. never had one quit smoking and drink rarely. I know I probably wouldn't get one but just the idea of it give me the jeevys..lol.. I really guess it is the unkown the things that you have already been through that is soo scary..As far as knowledge I trust you and Diva to give it to me straight and I really do respect that.
