  1. congrats..That's awesome...
  2. I had a catheter the first day as well didn't really like it very much they took it out the second day. It was put in while I was sleeping. I don't think they put mine in right because it always felt like I had to pee..I finally told the nurse this thing has got to go..lol
  3. Fatigue is different with everyone..I would say you need no more than 2 weeks if you are sendimenarty. For me I have the time and I took 6 weeks off for the healing. I wanted to be completely healed before I go back to work.. I know it sounds a little crazy but I lift up to 50 to 60 pounds repeditively all day. But to answer your question If I was a office person I would have went back after week 2. It is a question that is very hard to answers because it has a lot of factors in it.
  4. well first of all most protein shakes can be passed through a strainer..The raw state of jello can go through a strainer..Now yougurt is not a clear. but soup broth chicken noodle broth, vegtable soup broth and sugar free popcicles are in liquid states concidered clear.. Powerade zero, water decafinated tea or coffe considered clear.. But if you have any question get a list of what you doctor considers clears.. My docs say that water, decaf tea, decafcoffee, chicken noodle soup broth, vegtable soup broth, jello, are all clears.. But mostly anything that can be put through a strainer in it original state..It is not as bad as you think. It is hard but you can do it..I would do it again tomarrow.. My doc considers yogurt and sugar free pudding as a thick liquid and monday I go to thick liquids..I have been on Clears for 4 weeks now..I know it sucks but it is worth it 100 times over to me...good luck
  5. Melissa I have heard a lot about Dr aceves I believe that is how you spell it..Mexico surgery is for those who pretty much not covered on insurance or their insurance sucks as far as paying for the surgery.. Truthfully my wife could not get coverage for wls about 2 years ago and she was going to self pay in Mexico..I know there are a few surgeons that are really good...I would do a lot a lot of research before I would let any one in Mexico cut on me..
  6. I use gnc wheybolic amplified protein I use it choclate, I can't say if you can get past the taste but I promise I have tasted worst things..lol but just my suggestion and It has 20 grams of protein per 6 ounce drink..good luck
  7. I use wheybolic amplified whey Protein from GNC. and It taste really good. I didn't think about mixing it in pudding I bet it too also would be good...
  8. Well I can tell you from what I know You as well as I are on mostly Protein and very little carb.. You need fruit and Vegies to keep ya regualr. Also when you take calicum and Iron it tends to constipate you.. But as having a bm everyday it is almost impossible...Your sleeve is so small that it would take at least 2 or 3 days to acculate a food for that.. But they have told me that miralax is the best and you will get relief if it has beeen too long..but until you go to solids you will be having less bms because your on liquids
  9. I orginally had my mind set on the band. But the more I reviewed the band and the more it has failed after the three year mark scares me.. I chose the sleeve It is still to be the less avasive surgey in the weight loss class.. Follow what the doctors say and your chance of leaks are little to none. The death rate is about 1% which is extremely low considering. I was sleeved on the 1st of February and I am doing soo good.. I would do as much research as I could on all the surgeries and then make a education decesion for what is best for you.. I truely would do it again tomarrow with out thinking about it. Good luck and keep us posted
  10. You know the only one I told was my boss and two of my best friends. I wanted the support of my family so I told them..You have to be cautious with who you tell because as i have learned that there is always an opinion with who ever you tell. I got so mad at someone I told because I really didn't want to hear anything other than I understand and thanks for telling me. I just didnt' want to come back from surgery and everyone think I had cancer or was sick..Any way I guess it is really up to you because due note there are always people that have an opinion. I finally told my boss if any one asks where I was to tell them. I told them to tell them when I went out for surgery..
  11. They are soo crazy because I wake up petrified that I am going to die..lol They are soo vivid and like you said you can actually taste the food..Everyone that has the surgery seem to have weird dreams like this..Its just really scary I guess.
  12. I promise it will get better just keep walking. I know about the drain thing it is always not comfortable walking moving. Hopefully they will remove the drain from you and you will be feeling better.. Trust me my friend it does get better. good luck and please keep us posted..
  13. They told me to keep losing weight that I would have to keep my caloric in take to 1400 calories since I was a man. and women would have to keep their caloric intake to no more than 1200 calories. I am really trying hard myself to keep my body in keytosis until I lose all the weight I need. anything under 50 carbs is considered keytosis, 50 to 100 carb is right outside of keytosis so I was told that if you stay in keytosis or right outside of keytosis is were you get most of your weight loss. Now this is just from my research and nothing more.
  14. If you go to seminars it would be very helpful to answer all questions..I had a note book and every time I had a question I would write it down. I feel that the doctor was a little upset to answer about 35 questions before I would move forward. You have to realize this is a life long change and every little thing that you learn about this the better your mind is going to be with it. when the change actually happens you will have most of the tools for success. I would say you probably would need no more than a week for your 2 year old. I know when I was out 3 days I was cooking supper for my wife and doing light cleaning of the house.. Also you need to prepare your mind for the liquid diet you will be on. I didn't realize that this is a really impact on my life. It is extremely hard and you will know if your ready to have the surgery if you can do this. I will be on liquids for 6 total weeks. 2 week preop, 2 weeks thin liquids, 2 weeks thick liquid. I guess the biggest thing I am saying that your mind as well as you body has to be ready..It is defintely worth it don't get me wrong. I would do it again tomarrow. Your psyc eval is a eval to make sure you are ready for these life changing events to happen. Good luck and please keep us posted
  15. If I can help on person everyday I feel like I have done my part on this web site. I am new and I have just been sleeved about 10 days ago so we are all learning from one another and I hope everything turns good for you and I really do wish you good luck..
  16. Yep I have heard from long time sleevers that it happens around 4 to 6 . I heard that your hair does grow back but thins out quite a bit..
  17. These dreams are really disturbing and scary. I dream I am eating something gorging down food and then wake up and say what am I doing. I get really worried. they are happening every night and I just wish one night that I would have a normal dream!!! I am losing so much sleep because the dreams seem so real and I am petrafied when I wake up. I have to regain my composure and finally realize these are just dreams...
  18. Mine was february 1st in Nashville,Tn.. I am here to say that I would do it ten times over..good luck to all
  19. Thats great!! I don't really have a favorite food right now..If I would say favorite it would be a big ol steak and bake potato.. I know that really don't sound like a guilty pleasure, but there is nothing better...lol But seriously be really proud of your accomplishments... good luck
  20. Good luck , you will do fine..just sip and walk.. Walking makes you heal faster.. Please keep us posted!!!
  21. I feel for you I had a 14 day liquids only and 4 weeks liquid only postop.. wow this would even be hard for the veterns. Do you have an excessive about of weight to lose or is your doctor that much of a butt.. There are not too many times I have heard of this..Wow I guess the only thing I can say is good luck...
  22. Rollercoaster you really need to make sure you are ready for the sleeve. I know everyone here has said that they have no regrets. Make sure with all your heart that you will not have any regrets and you are ready. There are so many new sleevers that wasn't ready. It sounds nice to have doctors say you will lose all of this weight . I know that this is going to be a life change and you can't go back after its over..I chose the sleeve because I couldn't control my weight and for health reason's. Friend I do wish you all the luck in the world. But I guess to answer the question I would do it a million times over. I started my pre op diet weighing 385 and today the 9th I weigh 354..
  23. Yep you just got to hang a couple of days you will start feeling better about things as ansthesia wears off..You have to drink and walk for the gas. I promise that when you start getting fluids in and getting on your feet even getting a shower will make you feel like 100 bucks. It will get better every day that passes I promise..
  24. It is really amazing the day I got out of surgery the last thing I wanted to do was eat. I know that you would never think this but it is true for the first 6 days you will not want food period..just walk and sip walk and sip. The most important thing after surgery is to keep hydrated and walk to keep the gas moving.. I wish you the best of luck and please keep us posted..
  25. I really don't think you will have very much trouble..Granted I am not on my own . I have used my wife very little since surgery.. A good recliner a must for a couple of days. a tv tray and someone who could check on ya once in a while should be sufficent..Stairs only going to affect you if you have to have an open procedure. You wont be able to drive to you are off your pain meds soo stock up on the stufff you will need while your out(crystallight, powerade zero, protein powder,bottlewater..etc. I think you will do fine. Maybe you can have someone stay with you a night or two so you will be sure that you are comfortable alone without anyone.. I really think you will do fine
