Any January 2010 Bandsters????
Oh my goodness I started the pre-op liquid diet today and I'm fighting some serious head hunger someone just made popcorn here at work and I can smell it! I hope once I get in a good routine that this will get a little easier. I never realized all the things that triggered me to eat. Smell, boredom, being tired. I'm going to succeed and follow this diet to a T. Is anyone else on thier pre-op diet struggling?

Getting Excited!
OK so I just ate the last supper. You know the last meal you eat before you start your pre-op diet the next day and the rest of your life and eating behaviors change forever. Yea that one. I had a leftover turkey sandwich on white bread with miricle whip and some cheetos. Not healthy I know but seeing as for the next 2 weeks all I can have is protein shakes, broth, jello and liquids I don't think it was that bad. I am so excited to start this I can hardly concentrate on anything else. The next 14 days are hopefully going to fly by and before I know it I will be laying naked on an operating table getting all fixed up with my band. I'm thinking of naming it. We care for it like a child why not name it. I am hoping that since I won't be eating much that it really jump starts the weight loss and I can drop a few pounds maybe enough so my undies aren't so tight. Anyway tonight when I get off work I plan on doing 2 things. 1) Making a ton of sugar free jello 2) Taking my before pictures. Did I mention I'm excited?! Lol. I will end with my favorite quote. "Hope is a good thing maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies." I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope.

Will I miss you?
I wonder now that the day is fast approaching of starting my pre-op diet if what I will miss most is the food or the weight. Of course I hate being fat, but I do believe it has made me who I am today. I know I am funny because of it. If you can't laugh at yourself first then you can't beat people to the punch. I also know that I have used it as an excuse for so many things like not going out with friends not dating people and not going places where I know my body will make me uncomfortable (theme parks, water parks, pools in general, basically anywhere a swimsuit might be involved) I guess I am just going to have to get used to the new thinner version of myself and say goodbye to the things I hide behind. Bye Bye huge servings of delicious food. Bye Bye weight. Hello new life.

Does Anyone Have a Partner or Spouse That Likes Them "Thick," "Heavy," or "Chubby?"
I think all our men need to start a support group called former chubby chasers united. I think anyone that goes into this kind of commitment when they are in a relationship feels like maybe the other person will not feel the same about them after they lose the weight. They probably all think us former chubbies are going to go looking elsewhere for someone else. I think they have the logic a new body needs new attention or something. We can chalk it all up to insecurity on both ends, but we shouldn't hate on ourselves its in human nature to have those feelings. Our men will love us whether we have more cushion or not. I think I should be more worried about my 3 year old who told me "I like you squishy" the other day. lol.

Things I can't do now but I know I will soon.
I can't see my feet without bending over walk up stairs without panting like a whore sit indian style for more then a minute cross my legs like a lady tie my shoes without hiking my leg up on something believe the reason my boyfriend doesn't want to have sex is because he is tired stand up and do the dishes without my back hurting believe I ever let myself get this big picture myself thin. These are all things I can't do or believe but I am a can do person and I will get this weight off my body and my mind and I will be thinner and healthier soon. I will I will I will. God Bless. April

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
Oh you are better then me girl. I turned my sister down 5 years ago when she got married. She wanted me to stand up there infront of 300 people wearing some slinky strapless number you've got to be kidding. I was so ashamed that I told her no. I don't regret it because I would have made myself feel horrible and who the heck needs that, but now that i'm getting lapband and I'm gonna get skinny I think I might buy me a little strapless number and just pretend for a minute. I know you will be braver then me and look fantastic! Best of luck with your bridesmaid nightmare.

Before and after Food Budgets
Hi everyone I am scheduled to be banded on Jan 12th 2010 and I was just wondering how much everyones food consumption changed their budgets. I know I will be eating less, but I will be eating more fresh produce and everybody knows healthy food costs more. So in general I just want to know if people are spending more then they used to, the same, or less? Thanks ahead of time.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
Hey Dr Malley is banding me in January too! I'm self pay so I am having my surgery at New Hope, but it's nice to know someone on here that is using the same surgeon and have the same band month. I am so excited and yet pretty nervous at the same time. I had a moment today after my family had our yearly christmas picture taken. I thought this could be the last year I don't try to hide behind my kid. It was such a cool moment. I am so ready for this journey to begin.

The fat girl at the party.
Hey girl you are beautiful. I totally know what your going through I even went so far as to find other fat girls to hang out with so I didn't have to compete for attention. Guys and yes us girls too are shallow. I've had guys that wanted to have "secret" relationships with me! How freaking lame can you get. Yea they wanna fool around but they don't want anyone to know. It will get better my dear you will find a guy who loves you for you and what you bring to a relationship. Hope all is well with you.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
1.What is your current and goal weight? 323/150ish 2.What is your surgery date? Jan 12th so excited! 3.What is your age? 27 4.Where do you live? Chillicothe MO 5.Where are you having surgery? Overland Park KS 6.Who is your Doctor?? Dr. Stephen Malley 7.Insurance or self-pay? Self Pay insurance was a no go 8.What was you "deciding factor" for having this surgery? Well I guess I will put it all out there. I broke the dang toilet seat. And Im tired of having to take two tries to get off my low sofa. Im tired of panting after tying my shoes. I'm tired of feeling like everybody is looking at my weight instead of looking at my face and seeing a real person. I guess I'm just tired of being tired. I know each and everyone of us is on a similar but different path and I hope that everyone of us has someone to hold our hand while we walk on it, but if not I'm glad we have each other.

I'm so worried I am going to get sick!
Good luck on your upcoming surgeries ladies you are all in my prayers.

Questions and things
I am currently playing the ginea pig in my office. I work with a lot of overweight women and most of them are interested in Lap-Band but our insurance absolutely won't cover it. I am lucky enough to have some help in the finance dept with my parents so I made a deal with the ladies at work and my boss. They help me out with being encouraging and start a walking club then I will be their advocate to the HR dept and help get our insurance changed to one that accepts the procedure. I am excited to share my adventure with everyone partly because I hope to inspire and partly because I want to be held accountable and dont want to have to tip toe around trying to hide it. Plus I already had my gallbladder taken out and can't use that as an excuse. Tee Hee.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
I'm getting banded on Jan 12th 2010 I will start my pre-op diet the day after Christmas. I figured trying to do a strict diet and trying to bake cookies with my 3 year old wasn't a combo I wanted to make so I opted for the new year. I would really like to help give support to those who need it and would love to get some buddies to help me in my journey too.
