  1. Y'all, I've got about 5 hours before I have to go to the hospital. Nothing to eat or drink today. I'm going to go crazy! I was already up at 7:00 AM and cleaning my carpets just to keep my mind off of everything. Thank you for the well wishes!
  2. Tomorrow is the day! I have to be at the hospital at 2:00 PM. I really can't wait for this.
  3. No co-pay for the surgery and $15 co-pay for office visits.
  4. One more day! I have a quick question though. My surgery is not scheduled until 3:30 PM. Does the don't drink or eat after midnight rule still apply or does it move up to around 8:00 AM? I don't know if I can go all day long with ANYTHING to drink.
  5. My support group meetings are in Riverdale at Southern Regional, but that's probably as bad as going into Atlanta. In fact, my bf doesn't let me go alone just because of the area. Y'all, I've only got two more days! This weekend was pure torture too. We had a party for my son's birthday Friday night and I've had to look at left over cake and ice cream all weekend. I think I did well though. I fixed myself a slice of cake after we sang Happy Birthday, but ended up only eating about 3 small bites before pushing it away.
  6. My whole thing with getting band is that I'm going to be held accountable for the amount and quality of food I eat and that's how I've explained it to my family. Without the band, I can eat whatever I want and the only repercussions are gaining more weight and declining health. With the band, there HAS to be a stopping point or I'll really pay for it. Immediately. It seemed to put things in a better perspective for them and now everyone is supportive of what I'm doing whether they agree with my choice or not.
  7. Do they? Even though I'm overweight, I still have a hotass perfect in every way boyfriend and I like to think of myself as a good girl.
  8. My doctor's office only charges $150 fee. I would definitely find another one.
  9. I don't have a recipe, but if you want something quick and just plain awesome, you should try Jello Mousse Temptations. They are only 60 calories and come in 4 flavors. Products - JELL-O Gelatin, pudding, and No-Bake Desserts
  10. I'm on the same diet and I was starving too. I ended up having to email my doctor's office for some kind of alternative and was told that I can have half a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread with tomato and lettuce, but no mayo. I'm also allowed sugar free juice pops, sugar free jello any time and half a cup of cottage cheese once a day. Hope this helps and good luck!
  11. Welcome! I love your user name.
  12. I remember you saying you were in Stockbridge too. Which schools do your boys attend? Mine go to Woodland Middle and Woodland High. Today is my oldest sons 18th birthday. Happy Birthday to Tyler! Oh and I am pretty sure I read yesterday that someone else is using your same doctor. I hope she'll show up here and post with us!
  13. *Bumping in case this thread got lost.
  14. I'm on day 10 of my liquid diet and I'll be banded on 9/28/2010.
  15. You have to buy it either on Amazon or the unjury website: www.unjury.com Even though I think most Protein shakes have a funky taste to them, I like the fact that one of the flavors from Unjury is chicken noodle Soup. It really helps you make it through the hard days of the liquid diet when you get sick to death of all those sweet shakes.
  16. Out of all the ones I've tried during my 2 week liquid diet, Carnation Instant Breakfast(no sugar added) is the best tasting. It doesn't have as much protein, so I have to balance it out with Unjury.
  17. I've noticed there are a lot of us from Georgia, specifically metro Atlanta. I was thinking it might be good if we all found each other in one thread and maybe make some LAP-BAND® buddies that we could actually reach out to. My name is Paige and I live in Stockbridge, GA. I'm a 41 year old single mother to a beautiful 23 year old daughter and two handsome sons(18 and 13 years old). I was skinny most of my life, then I hit 35 and it's been a landslide of fat since then. I've watched in horror as I've gone from size 6 to a size 20 in just six years. My surgeon is Dr. Gorjala and he operates out of Southern Regional Hospital. I chose him and his staff, not only because I have heard good things about him/them, but because they have a satellite facility about 15 minutes from where I work and I'll eventually be able to get my fills there on my lunch hour. My LAP-BAND® journey has already been a complete year, beginning with my first seminar last September. It's been a long and bumpy road, but I'm almost there now. I'm really excited and can't wait to finally have some accountability as far as my eating habits go.
  18. I tried a little cup that had honey in the bottom and you just stirred it up. I was thinking it might be more tolerable for me if I didn't eat it for a sweet fix and more along the lines as a dip or salad dressing if I mixed in some spices or powdered ranch dressing.
  19. One of the reasons my doctor told me not to drink alcohol is because it will hit our system quicker. He said I'd get drunk before I realized it, then most likely start vomiting and that's exactly what you don't need to do. When I pushed the point, he did say that a glass of wine every so often would not hurt. Beer was definitely a no-no just because of the carbination.
  20. Good luck! There are quite a few of us from GA on here at the moment and I believe one of the other ladies will be using Dr. Duncan also.
  21. I don't have my band yet, but I'm on my two week liquid diet, so I can empathize a little bit. The other night, my daughter texted me from Publix, "Mom! Publix has the 20 piece hot wings on sale for just $6.99!" I texted her back, "I just had to suck on a little tiny bite of pizza and you want to tease me with wings?"
  22. I was really worried that my GP might not be supportive or give me the referral that I needed because he is really heavy too. He ended up being very understanding and while he'd never referred a patient for Lap Band before, he was right there with me every step of the way and did everything he needed to do to make sure I had all of my tests and medical records necessary to satisfy my insurance. I'm hoping he will see such great results from me going through the procedure that he'll consider it for himself.
  23. What makes the Chobani different from other greek yogurts? Every single time I have tried greek yogurt, it turned my mouth inside out and I hated it.
  24. Here is what I found on docshop.com Many people are interested in knowing which celebrities have undergone which bariatric surgery procedures. Here’s DocShop’s breakdown Gastric Bypass Surgery Today, many types of gastric bypass surgeries, like the popular roux-en-y procedure, involve the combination of surgically bypassing a section of the intestines with the creation of a pouch (essentially, a smaller stomach). This type of bariatric surgery is associated with faster weight loss, but can be more expensive and harder to reverse than a gastric banding procedure. Celebrities who have had traditional gastric bypass weight loss surgery include : Star Jones (TV personality) Carnie Wilson (singer in Wilson Phillips, TV personality) Al Roker (weatherman on Today Show, author) John Popper (lead singer of Blues Traveler, songwriter) Michael Genadry (actor) The Fobi Pouch method is a variation of the roux-en-y gastric bypass procedure, which uses a band to divide the stomach, creating a smaller pouch. Celebrities who underwent the Fobi Pouch method of gastric bypass surgery include : Randy Jackson (American Idol judge, musician, record producer) Roseanne Barr (actress, comedienne) Etta James (singer) Jo Marie Payton (actress) Jennifer Holliday (singer, actress) LAP-BAND® System Surgery Unlike gastric bypass surgery, the LAP-BAND® System does not reroute the intestines. Instead, a silicone band is used to create a small pouch at the top of the stomach. Although not as popular in the United States as gastric bypass surgery, LAP-BAND® System surgery is typically less expensive and is both adjustable and reversible. Celebrities who have had LAP-BAND® surgery include : Sharon Osbourne (TV personality, music manager/promoter, wife of Ozzy Osbourne) Ann Wilson (lead singer of the rock band Heart) Khaliah Ali (fashion designer, author, daughter of Muhammad Ali) Joe Gannascoli (actor) Brian Dennehy (actor) Anne Diamond (British TV personality) Mikey Robbins (Australian media personality)
  25. I'm pretty sure that pro golfer John Daly had Lapband surgery.
