Newly Banded
My insurance required an overnight stay! I was glad! I live an hour away and did not want the ride immediately after surgery. But, also, did not want to be home where even tho' people want to be helpful, you end up having to do more htna you should have to! Congratulations, and best wishes for a great recovery. Happy New Year! Karen..aka.kll724

Surgery in the morning!
Best wishes! The lapband was my 3rd major surgery. I think it was probably the easiest, as I was most prepared. the other 2 surgeries were almost emergencies, so no preperation for either of them. With your mind and body ready, you will do great. You will be starting the New Year with a new you coming on! Woohoo! Keep us informed of your progress. Karen..aka.kll724

one week post-op
Just slowly drink your meals. You probably won't feel full, but only drink your prescribed amount. I, usually, had my creamy Cereal in the am, my shake later, and then for dinner, maybe yogurt or some Soup. You might even want to try eating 4-6 "meals' because you don't want to over exert your stomach at this stage! It might take your whole 1/2 hour to drink the 1/2 cup of liquids that you probably are allowed. Best wishes. And yes, you might still be having gas attacks! Happy New Year, and new you, too! Lap Band Surgery Back in 2006
Hey, you have lost almost 100 lbs! I know it isn't goal, but it is a lot of weight. Making your mind up to do it, is 1/2 the battle. best wishes for a successful 2014! Do you need another fill?

Experience with gastro illnesses after banding?
I have vomited, and ended up with a slip!(true stomach vomiting, not pb'ing) If you truly have a stomach virus, my surgeon suggests an unfill! Best wishes, stay healthy, take some zolfran to ward off vomiting. I think you have to see your doctor for it! Best wishes! Hope that your Christmas and New year are happy and healthy! Leaving..
Ilene, that is such a nice thing to say about Cheryl. She does try to be nice and helpful to others! Personally, she has never offended me, but others see her as a know it all. i just think that she has a lot of wisdom from being a lapband veteran and also in the medical field. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Karen..aka.kll724

Just had a fill and still over eating
Take it easy! You are probably fine, but try to eat like tmf said, don't eat until you are full, only until you are no longer hungry! Karen..aka..kll724

Yeah! Ilene, I am with you, too!

Post-op diet (first 4 weeks)
I followed my surgeon's plan! Since you came home with one, I suggest hat you try to follow it. You probably can tolerate other\ foods, but since you are healing, you should stick to the plan. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724

What do you eat?
I eat very little breads, rice, Pasta. They, for me, are not band friendly. I have had a couple sandwiches since lapband, they are not good for me or my band! Others have given you their menu, I have nothing to add. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724

Periods?
Bets wishes, read some of the other topics under the same forum you posted in. There are quite a few woman that have had similar problems and gotten pregnant after lapband! Best wishes for your future. Karen..aka.kll724

20 days out and not losing?
I, too, felt like a failure for the 1st couple months. I went back for my check up, they said you are doing great, 4 lbs in a month! That is 1 pound a week. It is equal to 52 lbs in a year! Now, that should make you feel better. But, truly, after healing and exercise, the weight will start to come off. I remember that I bought a dress at Easter(my surgery was Oct 30, 2009), wore it once, and then went to put it back on, it was like a wrap around! Cheer up, this is something new, a new way of life! Best wishes, Karen..aka..kll724

Fell Off the Wagon...How do I get re-started?
I know it is huge to say just don't buy it! i love dark chocolate! I had to give away my Halloween candy that I was snacking on. The people at my church were most appreciative! You can start over! The new year is coming, it is a great time! call you surgeon's office, if you need a fill. Maybe you just need to talk to someone, like the nutritionist. Most of the surgeon's have a specialist on staff. I had to restart, too. I joined myfitnesspal, and log my foods, calories, and exercise. I have met goal, can't tolerate further fill, so I had to "press restart" and just do it! Best wishes for a Happy New year. Karen..aka..kll724

What do you like?
I like that I can borrow or lend clothes to my "normal, or perhaps underweight, daughter-in-law. And how everyone thinks that we are mother/daughter instead of inlaws!
