My family is here for the holidays and it appears that some sort of stomach bug is going around. I have luckily never vomited with the lap band, and I know it's a bad thing. How do you deal with a tummy bug? Anything I should know?

only vomited once and that was while still in the hospital after surgery. i have no suggestions. i am on a medication that i take when i get nauseated. ondansetron. but i know of that flu, it ran its way around my daughter and her family and their circle of friends. wishing you lots of luck

I haven't vomited since being banded either, but I have heard, that if you begin vomiting, do not wait, call your surgeon or get to the ER as there can be dire consequences for the band with vomiting. Maybe you could ask your surgeon for a prescription to have on hand in case of nausea/illness. Best wishes

I have vomited, and ended up with a slip!(true stomach vomiting, not pb'ing) If you truly have a stomach virus, my surgeon suggests an unfill! My doctor told me to call at the first sign for meds to stop vomiting!

So far so good...all the kids and my sister got the dreaded barfs/diarrhea, and my daughter got it just last night/this morning. But she feels much better this afternoon. I have been washing my hands so much that they are chapped!! The incubation period of this dreaded yuck is about 2 days. I've made it 3 so far--let's hope I avoid it entirely.

PS I called my doc's office, but the nurse must be on holiday because she didn't call me back yet. I know to call ASAP and be persistent if I get the barfs.
