To Stay Or Not To Stay.....
Like Regnu, my insurance required an overnigth stay. I am not sure that I needed it, for comfort, but for my peace I did. I was not bothered by well-meaning family and friends, and was able to rest before making the hour ride home. If you have children or no one to assist you, stay overnight. Best wishes. Karen

First Fill
That is a lot of fill for your 1st time. I guess your surgeon is pretty agressive. Just listen to your body, if you are having trouble eating or keeping food down see your surgeon for a slight unfill. I have 5 cc in a 10 cc band and am 2 1/2 years out. That is all my badn and body can stand. Best wishes.Karen

Ate What I Was'nt Supose To.
I can understand, and know the pain. I was once to an event at my church. They had roast beef and little buns to put it on. This was maybe 3-4 months after banding, well, it was not pretty!!I eat very little beef, to this day! But, I love fish, and have gone to Burger King and ordered a fish without the bun, It was yummy!! My so has both celiac and lapband, so all his burgers are without buns, they do a nice job of wrapping the burgers in lettuce, or putting it on a bed of lettuce to be eaten with a fork. Next time, try that! Best wishes. Karen

Stuck - Yay That Means I Still Have A Band
I totally feel you, I had a slip in October, and had a revision done. Even tho' my surgeon says I have restriction, I feel like I don't and want to eat everything, too! But, he told me that if he fills it any further, nothing will pass through. I am currently at 5cc. And, I have gained some weight, but now, I have to help myself, and control my own appetite! Best wishes, Elcee! Karen

Stomach Ache, Dry Heaving
Yes, do see your doctor. But, it sounds a little like your body is adjusting to a new way of eating. Are you still on liquids or protein shakes? This will, also, cause a problem for some people. Best wishes, Karen

Is It Safe To Ride On A Roller Coaster With The Lapband?
This should not be a problem unless you are only weeks from your surgery. I, also, have ridden several times. My son, who was too big for Harry Potter ride 2 years ago, was quite excited to ride and enjoy it this year. Have fun, Karen

Port Pain Normal Vs. Abnormal
Dear Newbies, slight pain is normal. Excessive pain is not! But, pain from rolling, bending, lifting, etc, is to be expected; they did surgery on your stomach area and you are swollen, too! Take is easy on yourself, this is healing time. Good luck, Karen

Kitchen Appliance ?'s
Yes, a good blender is my life saver,. I have, actually, worn out 2 in the 3 years since I started my journey! A food scale and food processor are helpful, too! I use salad or dessert plates for all my meals, even Thanksgiving and Christmas. I use the small Salad forks, too. If you can get your hands on the small baby spoons and forks that is beneficial, as it will help you get used to the small bites we need. Best wishes to you and all the folks staring out, Karen

Has My Band Slipped??
It does sound like you are too tight! A slight unfill, with surgeon using barium and floroscope, will be best. good luck. Surgeon will, also, be able to tell if you have a slip in the same way. Best wishes, Karen

Help With "stuck Incidents"
I had a 1/2 Cesar chicken salad from Wendy's for dinner last night. I had no problem with the chicken in it. You really have to have something to dip chicken breast into. But, I tend to eat the "dark"meat of chicken, such as thighs. they are moist and don't really need anything to dip into. By the way, even 1/2 salad was too much for me, last night. I ate some of the greens and all the chicken breast. My best friend, however, is tilapia fish. Yumm, yumm!! Karen

61 And Just Beginning
Thank you Bjc1227, I walk about 2-3 miles in the am depending on the weather. I have found, now, in Central Florida, if I am not thru with my walk by 9:15, it is just too hot. I have a treadmill, but find it difficult to stay on it for more than 30 mins at a time. But, the doctors say at least 10 mins 3x a day is good for seniors like us! Any little bit helps! Karen

Help!!! Should I Change My First Fill Date??? Help!!!
I think you should be okay. My surgeon wants me to be on clear liquids for 2 days after, and then 2 days of full liquids. In that case, I would make sure I have plenty of liquids available to me! Karen

What Am I Doing Wrong? Please Help!
Everyone is so right, even .1 cc can make a difference. I requested a slight fill when I went to my surgeon in April. He gave me barium and x-ray, and it wouldn't go down without the help of water. He told me any more would clog me up. He was actually ready to remove .5cc, but I talked him out of it. Have a little removed, it will make a great deal of difference. By the way, I only have 5cc and anytime I have tried to go above that it has had to be removed. Best of luck. Karen

Hubby's Attempt At Assistance! :-)
Very interesting "assistance"! My husband always asks about "roto-rooter". By the way, I tried coke as a roto-rooter the other day, it works wonders! When my son was in Spain, he met a nurse from New Zealand who said this was what they used for blockage. Best wishes, Karen

61 And Just Beginning
I was 61 1/2 when got my band. It will be 3 years this Oct. I lost 100 lbs and could not be happier! I don't take blood pressure meds, I don't have arthritis bothering my right knee any more so I can walk everyday for at least 40 mins. I feel better than I did for many years. WW is great, but I, like you, gained all losses back and never met goal. You can meet goal with lapband!!Good move for us seniors! (my surgeon, has had his lapband for 7 years), he is a senior too, and very proud of me. Karen
