I have been banded since January 28, 2010. So, let's see, that is almost 14 months.
I started out at 243 and I am 5'6'
At 3 months, I lost 25 pounds.
At 6 months, I lost 35 pounds
At my one year bandaversary, I had just reached onederland. Which was a 43 pound loss.
Currently, at 14 months out, I have lost 55 pounds.
My weight loss has been slow, and I was at a plateau for about 6 months, I kept chugging along, and eventually things started moving again. I would say my biggest disappointment is my inability to eat breads or french fries. Would I change anything because of that, or do I regret getting the band? Heck to the no. Even with just a 55 pound weight loss, I look and feel better than I have in years. No loose skin, but I think that depends on how fast you lose, and how much you exercise. Sorry that you had to go through what you have gone through, This board isn't really very band friendly,OH if your doing great yeah, plenty of support, otherwise it's your fault, you did something wrong. When in reality yes not losing weight is considered a Band complication. I have no idea why you didn't lose, I don't judge. I totally agree with your comment about Lack of education from the medical professionals.
But you do realize that If you eat more than you expend then your not going to lose weight? NO WAY!!?? really? This is the best advise/support you can offer..I think if your on a WL board that is Obvious.That's how the majority of people ended up here.

I had my mother bring me a cup of coffee to the hospital, and stopped on the way home for another. I have it with french vinalle Creamer and splenda. I do add up the calories and add them to my daily count. I had surgery 2 years ago, and have lost 70 pounds so far.

It was about this time a year ago I was taken back for my surgery. I really wasn't nervous at all and I really didn't know what to expect after being banded. I only knew I was a huge man and I was tired of not being a active person I wanted to be. it hurt me to know that people saw me as a obese man. I didn't realize then I was treated different because of my size.
I want to say this has been a year more of self discovery than anything else. Though it has not been a perfect year with ups and downs with diet, exercise and motivation. I can honestly say, my life is so much better this year than probably the previous 18 or so years.
For those that have been banded or those thinking about it, know this, it's a journey of self exploration. It is a journey ofnyou finding out things about you that you didn't even know. As you take this journey open your body, soul and spirit to new experiences. If you live in the city, take advantage of the arts. Take advantage of fun runs, join a league team. Just open yourself up. If you live in a rural area, enjoy the nature God has blessed you with. You can become a mentor to others and support them in their journey in weight loss. We know more about losing weight than most doctors do. Help someone else, even if they haven't been banded.

I Look and Feel Great and I Dont Care What Anyone Else has to Say On or About The Matter!!!

I am sad to say that their isn't very much that you can do but wait. Everyone's hair reacts differently, and some people don't lose any. I wasn't one of those people. I eventually had to cut it all off, and just wait for it to grow back. It took about year, but it is coming back thicker than before.
P.S. I lost 70 pounds, and I think the Hair loss was worth it. If I had a chose to do it again, I would.

I would love a nice bgg chesseburger from Mcdonalds or a cheesesteak. Neither one of them goes down well, so I steere clear of them. Boy oh boy

I have faith that God will give me the mindset to have the will power to do what I need to do. Faith is the beginning of helping yourself.

Bad days are still blessed days if you are still alive. There have been times when I have felt down and alone, and a post from someone here gave me the strength I needed to move forward. I thank God for them and you, and yes for this lapband forum. Not only do we have bands, but we have other real life issues, and some of us unfortunately have no one else to talk to. I Post Because I want to Inspire and Help Those who are feeling, Depressed, Sadden, Suicidal, Broken Hearted, Discouraged, Weakened, and Those Who Want to Give Up!!! It's Never About Me!!! I very much have faith in God, but I also believe in the old adage "God helps he whom helps himself". I have faith God will see me through this journey but the work to be done is mine alone.
I agree- we are the ones 100% in control of our success or failure.
