  1. and the bottom line is this is your life, your choice. was it hard for you to lose the weight you have already lost. can you maintain the weightloss or will you gain it all back ... plus some? what about other health issues.... do you have any?
  2. I never took meds before, but most of the people have been either able to stop completely or ween them down considerable. I really could use an anti depressant... and that's no joke. The emotional roller coaster you go on is so up and down. i'm going thru a bit od depression right now. Especially after my husband said i'm starting to look like a bag of bones.... insert knife.
  3. hope you all the success in the world. Befriend AliOneTrackizTheBizness she did the same thing you are doing and has had tremendous success with GB. This is her Blog....: http://theskinnygirl...y.blogspot.com/ This

need more information... were you denied? I had United Health care and these are the test i had done: Cardiogram, bar-am swallow, i saw a nutritionist, and nurse and a phyc. eval. I'm 5'2.5" my start weight was 223lbs..... no other health issues. Just over weight. Approved on the first letter. My dr. compiled all the test results and sent it in all at one time. Testing started in mid Aug. 2009 and i was approved Oct. 2009. Banded 11/10/09.... Current weight: 145lbs I say get with your dr. and push push push...... keep on them. Let them know about UHC's plan... maybe they can hurry it along. Good luck
  5. at first i told people.... then i started getting the "look". The you too the easy way out look... so i stopped and when people asked i told them i exercise and watch what i eat... it is the truth after all. Now I pick and choose the people i tell... Good luck
  6. Like someone else, my dr. gave me a temp card and i then got one in the mail. A lot of restaurants do honor the card.... some do not. Most will allow you to order off the the kids menu, but hardly any will allow me to eat off the buffet with out paying full price. I just order off the menu is i can and if not... i don't go there anymore. My local Golden Corral won't honor it. I think i will write the main office about that.... humm Anyway, buffets are what got all of us to the state we are/were in.... so no more buffets for me.
  7. NYdad..... this is just my personal opinion, but, not a good idea to get all that at once. I go on the chat site and for the most part people who have had huge fills at once... normally have to get an Unfill not long after. Filling the band slowly so your stomach, body and mind have time to adjust. I'm almost two years out and i too at firs wanted to hurry up and be thin, but my dr. explained to me that if i want the best results in the long run.... it's better to go at it slow......You want to be the tortoise and NOT the hare.. banded 11/10/09..... start weight 223, height 5'2".............now 146.......14cc band with 10.9 cc in it..... but it took 7 fills to get to that. Best of luck.....
  8. With out a doubt..... i would do it again tomorrow. if you both get it done, don't get upset when he loses faster than you.... because he will....it's just the way it goes. Wishing you both all the best of luck....
  9. thanks for sharing..... by the way... you look amazing.....

Brendac40, I ate sugar free jello and puddin, lots of soup including Applebees cream of brocc., drank my protein with blended fruit (banana, berry, no apples or oranges ) and lost 15lbs. before surgery. I don't understand why people tell other NOT TO DO THE DIET.... if over 95% of the doctors are telling there patients, it must be important. You have to ask your self what kind of outcome do you want from this surgery.. Do you want to start off good are start by already cheating and trying to get around it? Are do what the doctors say and have success? I would be lying if i said i didn't cheat, I did, i ate a couple chips one day. But other than that, i stuck to the diet. It was hard, but you have to fellow the diet after surgery anyway, so get use to it...... You can do this, if i could... anybody can. Lapband is not easy. I wish you all the success in the world. Good luck The purpose of a pre-surgery diet is to: Reduce body fat around the stomach and liver, as well as shrink the liver itself. If the liver is too large, the surgery may have to be postponed. Improve surgical outcomes and recovery. By reducing fatty triglycerides from around the liver and spleen, it can reduce potential surgical bleeding. Increase protein intake, which will help preserve and protect muscle tissue. The pre-surgery diet will also prepare Lap-Band patients for the post-op diet and increase the rate of weight loss following surgery.
  11. So that was my question.... how did you get approved with out the surgeon? Went to the seminar in July, first dr. appt in Aug, did all my other dr. visits..... cardiovascular, sleep study, Dietitian , psych eval., etc.... then went back to my surgeon he compiled all the info and results from all the test and sent to insurance for approval. I was fortunate that my insurance approved me first time out. I could be wrong, but i would think the approval is to see the surgeon. Anyway, from seminar to surg. day.... four months. Banded 11/10/09 i would also encourage you to do plenty of research on the band. All the good and the bad.... it's a commitment not a lot of people can deal with, physically and emotionally..... Good luck .....
  12. When ever your ready. The pain in your port area is just the healing process... we all went thru that and still do. Every now and again, you will have discomfort in your port area. I'm 17 mts out and still have port pain.
  13. wow.... thanks for this............. I need to get recommitted to me...... your right.... I AM WORTH IT.............
  14. That is all well and good..... but this is not "Bible time".... take it some where else. If it makes you feel better, when you go to your next Prayer meeting talk about it there..................Follow the Bible and stop Judging..... Step down from the soap box... Just an FYI: there is a high rate of divorce among-est people who get WLS............ I'm not condoning it, in fact, my input was to "stay put", but we are not her and we don't walk in her shoes.... This is a support site.
  15. Awkward..... this is a friendly site and people come here to ask questions about what is going on in their lives......... NOT to get Bible beat by someone who is consumed by what the "bible says"..... The Bible also says it's ok to own slaves and be a polygamous...... is that ok? So, save your religion for your Sunday worship.... this is not the place.
  16. I understand where you are coming from. My husband and i have been married for 20 1/2 years. He has been with me thru everything. When we got together i was a size 0-3.... over the years i ballooned up to a size 18. Never has he said anything to me about my weight, but it did effect our marriage. For the past few years before LB... we maybe had sex 2-3 times a year... yes you heard me right... a year. This was not all his fault, i could not stand my self and it did effect everything. He is 6'4" and is NOW in great shape, but he went thru a "fat" stage also. Thru the years i wondered if we would make it. Well we hung in and things are getting better. My confidence has gone up and the new found "sex-life" is amazing. We do still have our issues. I getting use to the attention that i use to get from men that disappeared for years... again. Oh, we still fuss and argue all the time.... but it is what it is. Everyone goes thru tuff times no matter if you had WLS or not............... im going to share something with you that has gotten me thru the years of doubt. My grandma told me this ....... you know what you have.., but you never know what you'll get. Every man has issues, don't trade one for the other. Ask yourself these questions: Does he hit me, do drugs, alcoholism, verbally abusive?...... If you answer no to all these, then stay put... Last year he and i took a weekend away, just the two of us and rekindled our relationship...... if you can, try this.. it might help. Best of luck to you....... and you need not apologize for awkward.... opinion are like a$$ holes.... everyone has one.
  17. Wow.... Peaches.... what a great piece. I have printed it and i'm going to add it to the wall of inspiration.....

You can do it.......... Order the soup..... just don't eat the chunks... I was on vaca for one of my weeks of liquids.... Everyplace i went...i would say .. I think i'll have the soup. It became a big joke for the whole trip. Everyone was like... Chris what are you having? It will be all worth it in the end.
  19. You shouldn't ..... not can't. I have to admit.. I still do drink carb drinks. Less than one a day. Now I can't eat and drink them at the same time. I have to wait at least an hour after i eat to take even one sip. sounds like you just got banded. Once you get more fills..... it will be harder and harder.
  20. Maybe hint around and feel him out. I would say some thing like.... i have a friend that has had this surgery.. LB. Have you heard of it?... then fellow up with .. i'm been looking into it i i think it may be a good remedy for my weight issue... I'm coming to you because i value your opinion. You have to go in with all your ducks in a row..... This way he will see how important it is to you. Go in with a open mind and a open heart. Just know that you will have to tell him sooner or later. There is no way to hide it from him.... no way possible. If you wait till after he may feel like you don't trust him and it could cause problems. I wish you all the luck in the world..... God Bless
  21. NJ.... you will not regret telling him. He will try and be the supportive... "i love you no matter what you look like" husband. But, after the surgery... watch out... I can't keep my husband off me now...lol. I too was a size "0" when i met my husband.... so he has seen me at my best and worst.... now i'm in the middle somewhere.. but i like a size 8.... would love a size 4 My husband said.... really you don't need that, you are beautiful as you are..... but i do own a mirror and i know he was just being a thoughtful husband and trying not to hurt my feelings. I mean.. do we really want to hear from our husband... Yea you really could use all the help you can get... no we don't. But, i'm glad i told him and my family. And you will too, i'm sure of it. Good luck with your appts. and i will be praying for you.... By the way..... i so wish i was a jersey girl.... i love the housewives and jerseylious .. oh.. the big hair and the clothes and tans... i love it... My husband has a uncle that lives in Jersey. He had LB and so did one of his daughters.
  22. This is were i started: 5' 2" , Weight 223, Bra size 44G....... Now a little over 16 months after LB... Weight 152, Bra size 38H.... I lost 6" around.... and gained a cup size. I lost hardly any of my breast mass. If you look at some of my Dr. Appt. pic you can see how LARGE the girls are. Even in the Dec. 2010 Christmas pic you can still see the size. Most people would tell me.... if you would just get a breast reduction you would look as big.....NOT...then i would just be FAT. I didn't want to "just lose boobs" i wanted to be at a healthy weight and be proportioned right for my height. So i started the journey of looking in to WLS and a breast reduction. In my head i thought.... two birds one stone... Well i got the one bird, my LB surgery was approved.... but not the reduction. Was told I would have to get to my goal weight before they would do it. So i'm still stuck with the most miserable back pain you could imagine. I would have to pay out of pocket for the breast reduction now because i lost my job the day i went back from having LB surgery. So I figured if i'm going to go under... do the tummy tuck too....
  23. I had all that crap at my house too... never used them. Do you have a friend you can walk with? I can not get up and exercise in the morning.... i like to sleep till the last min... My weight didn't show until i started exercising... My husband was my motivator and support system. Now I go to the Y right after work. I also have a dog that I walk 3-4 times a day. I live 10 min. from work so I go home at lunch and walk her. I do zumba, body combat ans spin class as a group and i walk the treadmill and do the DEVIL (elliptical). When i first started i could only do like 5 min on both... now i'm up to 45. You can do it..... We 40+ girls have to stick together.....
  24. When i first started looking into the LB i of course did it in private. The first person i talked to was my friend Paula... she had had the surgery a year before and was doing great. She was very open to everyone with it. So I went to her in confidence and said I was thinking of having the surgery. She kept my secret, and i so respect her for that. Turns out her life mate and i had our LB surgery on the same day with the same dr. The next person was my husband. He at first was not so sure, but after I went to him with all my research and with my mind made up that i was doing this for my self, he was right on board. He and i discussed it and i decided to not tell any one, he honored my wishes and kept my secrete. I did tell my Sons and my daughter in law. They were all on board. I didn't even tell my mom or my family at first. About six months after the surgery i told the rest of my family. My mom kept asking if i was ok because i kept losing weight and she didn't know why..... thought I was sick... so I told them. I started to get comfortable with telling people at about six months. People would ask and i would tell them, i had LB surgery........... THEN...... i started getting "the look". All us WLS people..... know "the look"........... it right after they ask you, How are you doing it... and you say I had LB surgery. It's the YOU TO THE EASY WAY OUT LOOK. I would get so mad because...... WLS was defiantly not the EASY WAY OUT............ it's hard as hell. Just because you had the surgery does not mean you are will lose weight. My sister in law had it done and weighs more... but she refuses to follow the rules and exercise. I would so love a big fat cheese burger with fries..... and a dr. pepper at the same time.... So now, when some one that has not seen me in a while comes up to me and ask.............how I did it........... i say I watch what i eat and i exercise...... Now, i have lost 71lbs, i could not be happier. My husband, who never complained about my weight, loves the NEW ME..... He love that fact that i have more confidence and in turn feel better about being more intimate. I truly believe it not only saved my life, but marriage (of 20year) is way better. His favorite thing..... i was able to get rid of all my "granny panties".......... and went bought some cute ones at VS.... So, NJ girl.......... sit down with your research and tell your husband... he will be glad you did, and so will you.....
  25. Lets face it..... I know i've heard for many year... you have such a pretty face...... well most of us "fat girls" do. But we also had wonderful up-beat attitudes, great personalities, and a loving caring giving soul..... When we lose the weight we still have all this and now we are healthier and we look HOT.. They just have skinny.......
