Did Anyone Else Have To Follow Eating "schedule" Weeks 2 And 3?
I agree with Xavier.. This does not sound health for the long term. I would do some research and get with your doctor.

Circuit Training Vs. Bootcamp?
I started a MMA strength and conditioning class at my gym about three weeks ago. Lots of jogging on your toes, push up, sit up, sumo squats.... etc. I really like it. I find i do better in group settings. On my own, i tend to cheat myself. In a group, can't, someone is always watching. And it makes you want to push yourself to keep up. When i first got my band in 2009, i didn't exercise except walking for the first few months. My weight loss really slowed down. Then my husband said, you had this surgery to lose weight, but your not taking full advantage of it by not exercising...... so I started a Zumba class and doing the elliptical..... and the weight started coming off. What ever you do, be safe and don't cheat your self. You will do great.

Do Fills Hurt?
Depends on the doctor. My main doctor places a round pillow behind my back and i never had any problems. Now the other doctor in the office makes you do a crunch.... and he does hurt.
-
Do Fills Hurt?
sometimes it does... depends on how your dr. does it. My main dr. does not hurt, but the new dr. did...

Here A Scale, There A Scale, Everywhere A Scale Scale!
Congrats..... now don't get discouraged when that weight loss evens out in the next few weeks. The next couple months are the hardest. You may get on the scale and have none to very weight loss. This is because you have little to no restriction in your band. This is when your will power will be challenged the most. I could eat most anything and a pretty good bit of it. When i realized this .... these are some of the things i did. Not saying this will happen but if it does...... I stayed away from buffets and all fast foods. Lets face it, they are two of the reasons most of us gained weight in the first place. When I went out, i tried to order soup or if nothing appealed to me i ordered and i told the server to bring a go box when my meal was brought. I immediately packed away 75% of my food and only left what my portion should be on the table. Do not reopen the box...... Refuse the drink.... the server will look at you as if you have an alien on your face... would you like water.... you say... no thanks. You will have to get use to this. Better start from the get go. Practice taking a bite and putting your fork down... remove it from your hand. This will help you get use to eating slowly and to chew your food till it is mush in your mouth. Put the scale (aka the Devil) in the trunk of your car..... i know this sounds crazy. But if its there you will stand on it. Exercise..... i can't stress this enough.... i started walking and then Zumba... When i first started i couldn't do 30 min on a threadmill, and about 5 min on the elliptical. Take it slow, but move as much as you can. Oh and muscle milk lite.... Latte..... yummy wishing you all the success in the world....

Two Years Later.....
Thanks for the in put... I've always been a somewhat insecure person. Even when i weighted 100lb and was 36-22-25 i still had body issues. and the feeling of not being pretty or desirable. I'm sure it has something to do with sexual abuse and the fact that my ex husband use to tell me how gross i looked and that i was fat and he cheated on me ALL the time. We only were married for a few years, but they were some the worse years of my life. I have a appt. to see a consular so we will see how that goes. sanction... that was the first time they ever did that. But it was the first time i saw this dr. and it had been over a year that i had been back. the second time was because i know something was not right. and i was right.

Two Years Later.....
So last year i went to my dr. on my year (11/10/10) to get my check up and get a fill.... Weight 160lbs. BMI 29.3 Great i lost 63.2lbs in a year. That was any average of 5.3lbs per month. Went down from size 18-20 to a 10. Wednesday i went for my two year checkup (12/28/11) well i guess that would be a year and a month..lol but here are the results..... Weight 146.8... BMI 26.8. That was a weight loss of 13.2 for an average of 1.1lbs per month. Size 10 to now wearing a size 6-8. Ok so i really thought that at two years i would be at my goal of 130Lbs... but no. So now i have to be honest with my self and all of you. I start eating bad and i stopped exercising.... I know.. I know...but we joined a different and i feel so uncomfortable there... it's a hard core gym.. you know the ones with the men staring at them selves in the mirror while the grunt.. But my husband paid for the year, so starting Monday... i will do this. i will get my self back to losing. January 13 i have a FREE consultation with a local plastic surgeon and i'm checking into the tummy tuck. I know this sound selfish but.... I want this. After two c-section, gallbladder, hysterectomy and the LB surgery, my stomach look terrible. And I have convinced myself that the only thing that will make me happy is the TT. So there.... In the past year not only has my weight and appearance changed but so did my attitude.. or so my husband says. Strange how before at 223 i had no problems with my husband. I never felt jealous or worried about him looking at other women.... but now i do. It has become a problem for me. My husband is a good looking guy and is in great physical shape for a 50yo man. I see other women looking at him all the time and the first thing i think is WOW, she has a flat stomach he has to be attracted to her... and i get depressed. At one point i was so insanely jealous of this one person that i was convinced that they had something going on.... I about drove him crazy.... he even told me that me losing the weight was the WORST thing that happened to us. (insert knife in heart)... I know he loves me, he has too to put up with the crazy crap i put him thru....lol On another note: Last dr. visit .... so i went to my check up and to get a fill. I have not had one in a year and i really needed one.... at one point i was at 143... so gaining those pounds really got to me. So my surgeon was not in and i had to see the "new" dr. Was not impressed with the way he filled. My "regular" dr. placed a pillow behind my back and i never felt pain during a fill. Well let me tell you.... pain omg... and he missed the first time and had to move the needle around before he found the port center....he just makes you put your hands behind your head and do a crunch... so i'm supposed to have 10.9cc's in my 14cc band. He pulls everything out and only 10cc comes out. Hell, what happened to the other... .9cc... he said some times it evaporates. Really?? Has anyone else heard this or had this happened??? So, he puts the 10cc back plus .5cc. I go home and i'm STARVING.... you hear. Omg it was terrible. So i called yesterday a.m. and told them that something had to be wrong. I never felt hungry like this after a fill... EVER!! Some thing has to be wrong. So back i went yesterday. He pulls every thing out..... 10cc.... hummmm were did the .5cc that he put in yesterday go. Well he has no idea... So he puts .5cc in AGAIN. But this is what chaps my hide... Wednesday I paid $275 for a fill which turn out to be wrong, i was supposed to pay only $235. so she credited my card back $40 bucks. So i'm thinking... no charge right.... WRONG... she charged me another $45 for them to put back the .5cc that was supposed to be there in the first place... Does this sound right to you all? Let me know what you think

Can You Get Approved For Lap Band Surgery If You Have No Health Problems?
Same as Ashleigh'sMom for me.... no other problems except my bmi was 40.8...5'2.5" weight 223.2 Surgery was Nov 10, 2009... went today for my two year check up....although i gained a few over the holiday.... my bmi is now 26.86 Weight 146.. (was 143).. but i got a fill today and should be on the right track again soon. Thought i had 10.9 in my 14cc band, but in a year .9 disappeared... he gave me .5 today. Wish i would have told him to do 1cc... maybe i'll go back in 6 months.. but at $275 per fill... i don't know so YES you can to answer your question..... Good luck

How Long Is The Lap Band Surgery Approval Process From Start To Finish
Every insurance co. has different things you have to do. I had UHC and i first had to call them to make sure they took the insurance. I then had my dr set up as many appt in a day as i could. For example: i did my RN visit, nutrition RN visit and the barium swallow and psyc. all in the same day. Then i did my heart dr. visit and my sleep study in the same day/night. ... you get the point. My dr. compiled all the results from the heart dr, nutr., weight loss RN, swallow, psyc., sleep study and he sent in all as a packet along with my surgery date... Approved in one week on the first try. Good luck

I'm Getting So Much Negative Feedback
Would they we willing to go to a support meeting with you? If so, have them go with you.... then they will see the positive that the LB can do. Also, it will show them that the LB is NOT... the EASY way out. This is by far the hardest "diet" i have ever done. With weight watches, jenny Craig, nutra system,.... and every other fad diet we have all done... you can cheat..... this you can't. On the other hand, you are an adult now and unless you need them to pay for this, you can do what you want. But make sure this is what you want. It's is not some thing to go into blindly.... it take a lot of dedication. Try the liquid diet for one week, and then think about a life with out most of the things you love to eat...... Mine is Bread, rice, pizza, hamburger with two buns, french fries, wings from Wing stop, steak..... and soooo much more and lets not forget drinking anything with a meal.... no more going out and having that. You either drink 30 min. before or after.... not during. Good luck with YOUR decision....

Two Years Today Yay!!!!
Doing great...!!!! Banded Nov. 10th and my two year mark as come and gone. Still stuck at 80lbs. But that's ok. Thats 80lbs i could have never lost and kept off with out my band. I started at 223lbs and now at 143ish.... Love being able to wear a shirt that just has a L on it and not xxL... and single digit paints..... 6-8 and not a 18-20... For the most part i have been a "slow loser". I would really love to lose another 10lbs or so, but my husband says...."you need to stop, your looking too thin"... REALLY.... TO THIN. NO SUCH THING i tell him. I have not had a fill since my one year visit. Sometimes i feel like i really need a fill and somedays.. not. So i have an appt for the 28th for a check up and i will talk to my dr. about it. I have adjusted well to the do's and don'ts of my band and the changes are things i can defiantly do for the rest of my life. I have done really well with the only having extra skin in the stomach area... but i have an appointment for Jan. 13 for a PS consult for a TT. I can't wait. After 2 c-sections, gallbladder, hysterectomy and the LB... my stomach looks like a road map... Flat stomach here i come. Would really love a Breast lift too... will talk to him at the appt about that too. Have either of you thought about PS? Have you had any problems?

So Confused About This Whole Lap Band "insurance" Process...
Coal.... it is very important that you have the dr. office submit the dr. findings and all test results as a packet.... not individually..... insurance company will "loose" the paperwork are so they will say..... not as easy to lose a packet of paper than "one or two sheets". My dr. compiled all the paper work and gave them a surg. date... UHC approved on the first try. Keep on top of the workers at your surg. office..... very important!!! I got my approval with in a week of the submission. No sleep app, no HB, no Diebetes, no anything...... just FAT....5'2" and 223.... approved Oh... and sorry about your lose last night against the 49er.... being a saints fan... i was cheering for you.

Finally Happened...stuck At A Restaurant
I don't have problems with the shrimp... thank god (being from Louisiana). I just have to eat them slow and chew the hell out of them. We went to Outback Saturday night and had the shrimp. I did fine, but it kills me not to eat the bread....omg i love that bread... but i learned my lesson last time i was there.... got stuck and ran to the bathroom. so I ate two shrimp, two bites of salad and about four bites of mashed potato.... and i was done. Beth.... 123 answered your question... the more fill the tighter, the more you will have to watch what you eat.... at first i could eat most anything... bread, pizza, rice, grits... but as you get filled the less you will be able to eat.... two years later... no bread, no pizza, no rice, no grits....no left overs, no steak (unless cooked MR), chicken cooked very moist and tender. most important..... eat slow, PAY ATTENTION while eating and no drinking while eating....

So What Does The Lap Band Do For You; Comment.
I agree with you B-52..... I use to be an "impulsive" eater. Was not hungry, but if i saw that plate of Cookies... you bet your ass i would eat at least one with out even thinking about it. And would eat it and then think.... damn i should not have eaten that, i was not even hungry. But, if i passed it again... i would eat another. With the band, for instance, this morning we received donuts... not just any donuts, red-velvet cake donuts.... and biscuits from a vendor..... before the band i would have taken one of each and ate them both. But i passed up the donuts and got the biscuit, but will only eat the meat and cheese off and throw away the biscuit... The band keeps me in check.... bread, rice, and others have always been my biggest problem, and with out the band i would still be eating them... but i know i can't or i'll get stuck... so i completely avoid them... November 10 was my two year bandaversery and i'm still at 80lbs. I would love to lose that last 10, but i could not be happier. Going from size 18-20 jeans to a 6-8...i'll take that any day. Just filled out my paper work for my "possible" tummy tuck... Life is great

Pre And Post Op Tummy Tuck Pics...
I'm looking in to a TT now.... wow it's expensive.... insurance won't pay for it... Anyway you look great..... Funny how people that have nasty stuff to say don't have the balls to put any of their pictures on this site.... With all that you have going on..... Hell your house looks great. I now people that have nothing going on that their house is 10Xs worse.....I cleaned housed for a living right after my surgery cuz my boss of 10 years was nice enough .... to lay me off the day i went back to work after my LB surgery.... what a great welcome back... lost my insurance too.... wow what a great guy...oh and it was right before Christmas too.... anyway.... good luck with everything.

Really- How Long Will The Lap Band Last?
Well I guess no one really knows how long it will last. But, what i do know is SOME of the people that are going to Bypass are because they are not getting the "overnight" results they thought they would with the band. Didn't do enough research and didn't think it would be actual work to lose the weight. Of course some weight will come off but, the majority will be because of watching what you eat and exercise. Although they have some people on here that say the lost weight and NEVER had to watch what they ate or they NEVER exercised.... Too those people is say... good for you. But the rest of us have worked really hard to lose the weight that we have. I know of at least 6 people who had the Bypass and one is so thin it's scary, she gets sick all the time and if she skips a meal, she'll lose a pound or two. Then i have 4 friends that have lost over 100lbs each, but over the years have gained all the weight back. I have two friends that had the sleeve and are doing great. Check with your doctor and ask if there are any "long-term" bander in his practice. Go to the local support group and ask around there. Good luck with your decision .....

Pain In Abdomen - Wondering If Lap Band Slipped
don't give up.... let them fix it and see how things go. it's only been four weeks..... the first few months are the hardest. don't let this deter you. talk it over with your dr and see what he/she says....
-
Pain In Abdomen - Wondering If Lap Band Slipped
you may have pulled a muscle in your stomach too. Take it easy for the new day or two. sometimes taking liquid benadryl helps. I also have to watch on days that the weather changes, i sometime will get tight on days that are really cold. On those days i drink hot coffee, it help loosen it up so i can eat. I know this will sound funny, but if i wear a bra tight around my chest, i will get stuck.
-
Do You Drink Coffee After Lap Band Surgery ?
I could not live with out my coffee..... i drink a couple cups a day and sometimes at night before supper. I still drink about 6-8oz of Mt. Dew most days. I have given up a lot... but those two won't be on my list. Every dr. is different.... listen to your body and do what you feel is right for you.

Dr. Metz Wouldn't Fill My Lap Band Because I Smoke
There is a blood test they can take to test for Nic. in the system. But if you are on Chantex... im not sure if it will give a clean reading anyway..... I had a blood test about a month ago for a life insurance policy....
-
Dr. Metz Wouldn't Fill My Lap Band Because I Smoke
Glow... if i were in your shoes.... i would just tell him that i quit. How will he know the difference. Make your appt early in the morning. Spray your self down with perfume and rinse your mouth with mouth wash. I don't smoke, but everyone in the house that i grew up in did... so i'm use to being around it and it doesn't bother me. Althought quitting would be great, some people can't. Smoking is a personal choice and if you want to smoke..... then smoke. I still drink my Mt. Dew (i'm not giving it up) and alcohol when i want too. its my personal choice. Like i said before, my friend Paula smoked before and still does.... and she has been having her band for over three years.
