  1. That's awesome to hear! As long as you keep losing and you are establishing healthy habits you are absolutely successful! You look great :)

  2. I don't have an answer to your question! I have worked incredibly hard and followed all of the instructions given to me by the bariatric center. I count every calorie I eat and I try to do some sort of physical exercise everyday. My weight loss has slowed down but now I can run a mile when before I probably couldn't have run for 30 seconds. You should be proud of what you have accomplished because every pound you lose is helping you to become more healthy. Take care :)

  3. Thanks for the picture comment..you will look beautiful in a dress :)

  4. Hello! It made me happy to see your pictures and your success! I was banded 10/29/09 and I have lost 124 lbs so far and I am finally in a size 16! I was happy to see your pics from the 5k. I am training for a sprint triatholon this summer...congratualations on your success :)

  5. I think I felt fuller quicker in the beginning! I can eat a lot more than I did before (although I don't push it!). When I first got the surgery, I was NEVER hungry and I found eating to difficult because I had to blend everything or mash it up. It is important to start right away making healthy choices so that when you are able to eat more, you don't go over board. Listen to your body more than your head :)

  6. What you have lost is equally awesome! You are healthier and that is really what matters, not the number of pounds :) I have stepped up my exercise routine, but I don't do anything excessive...usually 45-60 minutes of cardio 3-5x/week. I limit my calorie intake to around 900 calories a day. I basically try to eat high protein, high fiber and low fat/calorie foods. I don't really limit where I eat because I can usually ask for foods without sauce or mayo. I also limit my portion sizes and I still am never all that hungry. I hope that sticks around for awhile so I can hit goal and maintain!!!

  7. Thanks for the picture comments...it's also nice to hear from people who are tall like me :) Congratulations on your success!

  8. Hello! Thanks for the photo comment :) I am 27 years old. The sagging skin, well...it's better than being morbidly obese! To be totally honest, I do have some on my breasts, stomach, and inner thighs, all which can be camoflaged. It is more than 100% worth it to lose the weight. I am now down 124 lbs and the sagging skin is not that bad. I also figured that I might need to invest in plastic sugery someday so I am more concerned with being healthy than if my skin sags a little. I am pleasantly surprised that my arms are starting to take shape and are not sagging. The positive things that have changed totally outweigh the little wrinkles on my belly :)

  9. Hello! Thank you :) I have now lost 124 lbs and I will be 7 months post-op on May 29th. I still have 55 lbs to go! I hope that I will be able to lose around 10 lbs/month. Best of luck to you :)

  10. Hello :) I have actually never been filled and I am approaching 7 months post-op. My hunger is completely manageable and I am still averaging somewhere around 3 lbs/week. So, whatever the surgeon put in when he first put in the band is what I have. Sorry...that probably doesn't help much :( I wish you the best of luck with your band!!!

  11. Hello! I just got your question about how many times it took me to get to my sweet spot. I have never had a fill! It's crazy, but the doctor said that some people never need any fills.

  12. Hey girl! My average loss per week started at about 4 lbs/week for the first 5 months. Now, I am averaging about 2-3 lbs/week. I have off weeks where I will only lose 1-2 lbs, at then there are some weeks where I will lose 5 lbs (those are my favorite!). I'm at 6 months now and it has slowed down...so I am going to kick up the intensity of working out to combat that :)

  13. Hello! It took me 5 months post-op to hit 100 lbs. Of course the journey has its bumps and it can be both frustrating and wonderful at the same time. Always remember the good parts of what is happening when you are frustrated with the weight loss. In those 5 months there were weeks where my body just did not lose like I wanted it to...just keep setting little goals and you will get there with the work you put into it!

  14. Hello! I do not have a blog...although that sounds like a great idea! I like to read Women's Health but really a good book that breaks down foods by calories, fat, fiber, and protein is the best thing to have. I try to only eat the foods that I need to get my body through the day in a healthy way. If I exercise, then I know that I need to eat even more protein. Of course, I have some "treats" like a small cup of frozen yogurt, but even that is a fairly healthy choice. I have tried to remove any emotions from eating. Every single day I need to challenge my brain and I need to keep reminding myself to make healthy choices. It is a full time job! The lap-band? really is a tool, you have to make it work from head to toes. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing!

  15. Thanks for the friend request! We both started in the same place with the exact same goal of losing 180 lbs. It seems like a big task, but it has helped me to set little goals. Keep in touch...I hope you do wonderfully :)

  16. Congratulations! Wow, a free lap-band, what an amazing life changing prize! Thank you for your support. I have been working really hard and I count every calorie that I eat. I eat around 900 calories a day. Zumba is so much fun and anyone at any level can enjoy it. I hope that you will be able to transform your life and most definitely your health so that you can live more comfortably and happily because you absolutely deserve it. Please keep in touch and let me know if you have any questions or could just use some support!

  17. Us tall girls need to stick together! I actually think it is a different experience being obese or morbidly obese at 5'11" than at 5'2"! Thankfully clothes looked better on and we can pull off fashions that other girls can't :)

  18. Hi Andrea! Thanks for the post. I do count calories, I eat around 900 a day. I work out 3-5 times a week...nothing outrageous. I stay on track by eating TCBY frozen yogurt as a treat now and then (in moderation of course!). It is actually a pretty good source of protein! I went into surgery with the attitude that not only was I going to be successful but I was going to be so successful that I could be used as advertisement for the lapband. I don't think that will actually come true, I just always believed in my success and continue to believe in it everyday. Everyday I still have to edit what I eat and tell myself to exercise. Best of luck to you and keep in touch!

  19. Hello Linda! I eat around 900 calories a day. Usually egg whites and some other protein in the morning, turkey sandwich on light bread for lunch and usually chicken in some form for dinner. I work out 3-5 times a week doing cardio and some light resistance training. I also take the stairs everytime now! Please keep in contact and let me know if you have anymore questions. You should be proud of what you have achieved because you are already healthier. Take care!

  20. Thank you! I hope everything goes wonderfully with your surgery. Stay positive! It is always difficult at first both physically and mentally, but trust me, it gets so much better. I am so excited for you to start Zumba! It is a blast and the most fun I have had working out. It helps the whole process of getting healthier and makes you feel happier! Keep me updated on how your surgery goes and please let me know if you need any encouragement or have any questions!

  21. I am excited for you! I am humbled that I am an inspiration because I really just want to get to healthy weight. You will be amazed at how the world around will change when your body changes. The best advice that I can give is NEVER doubt your ability to succeed with the LAP-BAND?. Tell yourself you will succeed and this is not like anything else you have ever done to try to lose weight. Please keep in touch...anything at all! I will keep you updated too :)

  22. Hi! I had some minor problems with gas pains after surgery. It would have been nice if I knew that it would happen! It is super uncomfortable, but it goes away. I think Gas-X the chewable kind work. Also, the pain meds will probably knock you out so you won't be that uncomfortable. I was able to walk a good distance 3 days post-op. Walking really helps the pain. I actually have gallstones so I will be going through that same pain this Thursday when I get my gall bladder removed. In the end, it is completely worth the couple days of discomfort!

  23. Hello! I will be 6 months out of surgery on the 29th. I have currently lost 111 lbs :) I wish you the best of luck with your journey and if you ever have any questions or just want to chat let me know!

  24. I am so excited for you! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns that you want some support with. Wow, you are only a couple weeks away from being banded. Best of luck and try to think only positive thoughts!

  25. Thank you so much for the support! I truly hope that you are achieving the goals that you have set for yourself. Hope we keep in touch :)
