My wife is scheduled for surgery...concerned
Be there for her. Hold her hand. Listen - don't talk, dont' scold, just listen. Don't be the food police. Listen. Let her tell you everything - don't judge - just listen. Oh, did I mention, just listen. Don't bring her trigger foods into the house. Tell her you love her no matter what. For, goodness sakes, LISTEN.

Opinions on Shapewear Please
My favorite are spanx. They are costly but they last forever. I get the ones that go up to my bra and have never had a rolling problem.

Random question...anyone have the Wii Fit?
I got a Wii fit plus for Xmas too. I just bought Jillian Michaels game and tried it for the first time today. She kicked my butt! It has made a difference - I am moving. I am exercising. That is a huge change!

My Doctor Wants Me to Post This
LOL!!! My DH pulled the same "pantsing" on me. Oh my gosh, I was so embarassed that I went out the next day and bought not one but two pair of blue jeans. Since then, I have also started wearing a belt (just in case).:Dancing_wub:

from consultation to surgery
5 months from seminar to surgery. That includes a 3 month medically supervised diet and all the other requried tests. Insurance approval took exactly 2 weeks from the time it was submitted. I have BCBS.
-
Six month diet?
Call your insurance company and ask if they use the beginning weight or the weight at the time of surgery. I fell below a BMI of 35 (with comorbidities) on my 3 month medically supervised diet. My insurance, BCBS of IL uses my beginning BMI of 38 not my current BMI of 34.8. I just got approved 2 days ago so I know this is not a problem with my insurance. The insurance girl at my doctors office told me that Aetna is the only insurance that does not use the beginning weight but uses the weight at the time of paperwork submission. Just to put your mind at ease give your insurance a call.

80 Pounds Gone- half way to goal:)
I love boots too however, one pair at the half way point just is not enough:w00t:. I suggest one pair at 25% another at 50% another at 75% and the whole dang outfit plus another pair at 100%. Of course you will also need a night out on the town to show off all of your new stuff as well as the new you! Plan big:thumbup:.

Quandry.. for air travel.. what to eat
I have been able to buy muscle milk at the gift shop. This is after the security check so it is ok to bring on board the airplane. The other thing I like to do is pack some turkey lunch meat and a slice of cheese in a cold pack container. I hope you enjoy your trip!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor 52 year old female needs buddy / mentor or both
Thanks for the responce Bobbie. I don't have too many questions right now as I am just finishing up my 2nd month of my 3 month diet. I am sure I will have lots of questions once I get through all of the insurance hoops and have a date. I expect that will be sometime in Jan.

The Neck
I think I have the clone of your 4 lines. I have been putting cream on them which helps temporarily. I hope it evens out with time. If not, I may have to treat myself to PS.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor 52 year old female needs buddy / mentor or both
My name is Sandy. I am 52 years old and live in the Chicago area. I am currently working through my 3 month diet and am looking forward to being banded late Dec or early Jan. My goal is to lose 100 lbs. I started training for a 5k run in April. LOL, it will probably take me that long to work up to it. It would be great to have someone to share the experience with. We can do this!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I'd like to join.........Oh my gosh, what am I saying. I am 52 years old, 217 lbs, and have not even tried to run since I was 18. This is a very scary undertaking for me but I will do it! I started week one on my treadmill tonight. It was tough but I managed to finish it. Thank goodness for the handrails on both sides of the treadmill. I held on for dear life. LOL Needless to say, I was huffing, puffing and cursing but, I finished. This is probably the bravest undertaking I have made in decades. I am not certain I will ever be able to run 5k but I will finish, (even if I have to walk part way)

Has anyone dealt with the Kane Center or Alexian Brothers Hospital ?
Wow Gloria! You are going to be one busy girl. I know it is a long drive for you but once you are finished with all of the appointments it will slow down. You weren't kidding when you said you were on the fast track. LOL. I'll catch up one day. Let me know if you are going to be at any of the support sessions - we can meet face to face then.
-
10 months and counting!
Congratulations on your weight loss. You look fantastic!

Right Now... Honesty Sucks!!!
You go girl. Lose the weight that you want to. Start a savings account that is just for you. If you choose later on - consult a plastic surgeon. That is my plan and I am sharing it with you. I understand completely, I have a husband who loves me unconditionally and I am embarrassed in font of him. The hanging skin is a bummer.
