How long before your 1st case of being "stuck"
I guess the answer is "no". We all do what we can to make it not happen but be prepared for when it does.

Brand new and I have a question...
My "guess" is that you should have no problems with surgery due to the things you mentioned. I know the aspirin is safe. I take one 325mg aspirin daily following a heart attack. I just had to stop the aspirin 1 week prior to surgery and started again the day after surgery. Make sure to tell your surgeon everything. He/she will clarify it all for you.

Determined to not fail!
Good luck! You have a great attitude and that is the strongest tool you will find. If you can stay positive, you will go far.

How long before your 1st case of being "stuck"
I thought it was impossible to get stuck prior to any fills but I managed to do it yesterday. Just 11 days out of surgery and day 4 on mushies. I didn't want to have to clean my blender or food processor. So, I just used a fork to mash up the tilapia I was eating. Well, I took too big of a fork full and didn't chew enough. Thankfully, because I am so new, it only lasted 2 minutes or so. Good luck!!

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
and I thought it was impossible to get stuck on mushies, especially prior to any fills. Oops! A few years ago there were games that gave you credits for every friend you had on Facebook. So, I did the obvious like thousands of others did and friended everyone and everything in sight. Apparently there is a failsafe built in to stop spammers that closes accounts after they reach 6,000 friends. The fact that I had over 50 accounts didn't help matters :wink2:

Some people don't have to do pre-op diet?
Ditto! :wink2:

Where's your port?!
I have no idea what a xyphoid is and it isn't in the dictionary but my port is on the left side about 2 inches up and over from my belly button.

Bon voyage Denise. Why does it seem that everyone is going on a trip but me? Leigha, how do you think her parents feel? Count your blessings :wink2: I got back on Facebook after getting kicked off a couple of years ago. Send me a friend request if you want. triegerb@verizon.net or search "Bob Trieger"

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Wow Karen! You have taken a few years off as well! You look at least 10 years younger than you before pics. Well, I did it. I managed to get stuck and haven't even had my first fill yet. :wink2: I smashed the Hell of of a 3 ounce piece of tilapia with my fork instead of "dirtying" the food processor or blender. I took too big of a forkfull and apparently didn't chew well enough. Fortunately, it only lasted 2 minutes or so but I'm sure after a few fills if I am not careful, it will hurt a lot more and last a lot longer. Now onto to PBs and sliming!!! Woohoo!!

becuase i want to
Very good point about the other programs!! Having just been banded myself, I can only take my surgeon and veteran's bandsters word for it that the band will keep me from regaining after I lose.

The last time I was this size, I was....
Congrats ladies! I have to hold off on taking this poll for about 3 months. I was this size about 6 years ago. Once I drop 22 more pounds I will be in territory I haven't seen since my late 20s.

Whether the band will work or not is ALL up to you. You are the one that must eat right and exercise to lose the weight. You are responsible for every pound you lose, not some little piece of plastic. The band is not a magic wand or a miracle cure. It is merely a tool that will help you feel full/satisfied with less food if used correctly. Like any tool, there are instructions that come along with the band. If you follow these and keep a positive attitude, the band will work for you. Read the experiences of both the successful and not so successful bandsters. Good luck!!

New here! And beyond grateful!
Thanks for the kind words! A lot of people, myself included don't have a lot of time to keep up with the forums on work days. If a post gets lost amongst the others and you don't get a response, it can be frustrating but please don't feel rejected or like you're being ignored. Sometimes you have to repost or reply to yourself in order for the posts to be seen. Keep your head up, a positive attitude is a far more powerful tool than a lapband.

Help! Being banded on 3/11/2010 and soooooooo nervous!!
This looks similar to one of my blog entries. A lot of us are prepared for surgery only to have it delayed at the last minute for one reason or another. I was supposed to have surgery in January only to be delayed until March. loserbob had his surgery delayed a week from March 3rd until March 10th. Just keep a positive attitude and hang in there. The longer you are on the pre-op diet, the more weight you'll lose.

The many faces of Sleep Apnea
I live alone and have nobody to take my picture but this one is real close: My pets never complained about my snoring. That is because my dogs snore louder than me.

Expectations and experience: how do they match up for you?
I can only speak of expectations and not experience yet. I too was an overeater. I am not fat from junk food unless Guinness counts. I ate good foods for the most part, just way too much of them. I am expecting to lose 100% of my excess weight. With the emphasis on "I". I am expecting the band to keep me from over eating. I am taking a far distant route from many here in that I lost 50% of my excess weight prior to surgery and expect to lose another 5% with plastic surgery. So, basically, I am just asking the band to help me with 45%. I want to congratulate everybody on their drive to gain their lives back. Especially those that have hit their goals. You are an inspiration to the rest of us and strengthen our determination.

2 weeks postop today
Christine, you are not alone. I'm 3 days behind you and can relate totally. I've only lost 1 pound this week when I had been losing 3-5 pounds a week for the past 5 months. I'm not letting it get me down. I am going to try and be creative with the blender and bide my time until I can eat real food again. Good luck!
