Looking for March 2010 bandsters threads
Don't worry about pain. That was my only concern and as I said, I never had any. I have not been hungry in weeks and am kind of losing interest in food all together. I have to keep reminding myself to "drink" another meal. There are 7 others posting here that were banded on the same day I was. Most of their post-op experiences sound much the same. One guy had a rough first day but appears to be doing great now. Good luck!!

I think I want it but don't know where to start
I'll be totally honest with you. I don't think you should be looking at getting surgery just yet. You say that you've been overweight for only 5 years. Some of us have been on diets that lasted longer than that. 100 pounds is easier to lose for young men than most will admit. I've got 2 pounds to go before I can say I've done it for the third time. Talk to a therapist and see it you can identify what is triggering you to overeat. See a nutritionist so they can get you on the right track. Start exercising more. Park further from the entrance to work or if you take public transportation, get off a block sooner. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Find a buddy with a common goal that is willing to exercise with you. It's a personal choice and I'm sure everyone here will support you in whatever decision you make but I would try the alternatives first. Good luck

I am Curious What Will be Highjacked Next in Our Country.....Lawsuit seeks to take...
Some of us think that your God is make believe. Others believe in another god or multiple gods. Why should we have to see his name all over public property? Most of us couldn't really care one way or the other. We understand how inconsiderate "some" Christians can be and have grown accustomed to it.

Thanks for asking! I feel like a million dollars. There was no real pain requiring painkillers at any time. Tuesday afternoon I had real bad gas. None of the shoulder pain that many complain of. Popped Gas-X strips like they were going out of style. The gas subsided and I slept like a baby. Wednesday, the gas is back but not nearly as bad. More Gas-X. Thursday, every muscle in my body felt cramped and achy. I think it was the IV fluids leaving my body or something. I don't think the pain killer would have helped and don't like the drowsy feeling it gives me. I was a little stiff still on Friday morning for an hour or so and then felt better than I did before surgery. I have experienced absolutely no pain or even tenderness around any of my 5 incisions. I can't feel the band from the inside. I can guzzle Water just as easily as I could last week. I won't know about solid foods for another 3 weeks. Blended/mushies starting Tuesday. I do have a real bad habit of swallowing air when I want to belch and this isn't working. I can't get a good, resounding belch out and have to wait for all of that air to come out the other end. Are you ready for Wednesday?

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Welcome 2Good. What kind of dogs? I have 2 english mastiffs and love them more than I would real children. Betsy, are you taking medication for hypertension? I am and if I do have hypotension now, the medication could be doing more damage than good. I'll have to figure out which box I packed the bp cuff in. Those of us in North Texas are missing the Texas sun today too. It's wet and only supposed to be about 60. Gloria, sounds like fun. It has been about a month for me on shakes and now liquids. I can't remember what it is like to eat out. I don't really miss it yet. The chair, slab and grass in this picture are all gone. Replaced by a swimming pool last summer.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
It sounds like a good idea if you enjoyed it. I have absolutely no hobbies and need to find something to do other than watch tv and surf the net. I had to quit bowling because it was getting expensive buying new clothes. I kept splitting the crotches in my pants.

Fell off.......
The positives here are that you stopped before you did any real damage and you didn't declare it a cheat week or month. :smile2:

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Trust me, it started as a front. I am posting and using others to convince myself to have a positive attitude. It does seem to be working though. I am chugging right along and not looking back. I am starting to get light headed for a few seconds every time I stand but am fine and not weak or drowsy afterward. I hope my surgeon and nutritionist know what they are doing prescribing these diets. My blood pressure and/or sugar has to be lower than it should be. My follow-up appointment is March 16th and I start mushies 4 days from now, hopefully I can fix whatever is going on.

To be honest, I am sick of hearing about greek yogurt here. I'm glad you said how nasty it is. I was thinking I was the only one that thought it was rancid. Regular old Dannon or Yoplait are so much better. I love cottage cheese but have to wait another week for that. By that time I will be putting all kinds of crap in the Cuisine Art and creating mushy masterpieces.

I didn't go the broth route. Sticking with shakes and fat free yogurt. The shakes got me through 3 weeks on pre-op. So, I am used to them and may as well keep going. :smile2:

Banded Living- Is This the EZ Way Out?
Let's just say that WLS is the easiest way out known to man. Why is that a bad thing? I don't understand what is wrong with taking the easy way out. Therefore, I don't understand the need to justify it.

Happy Saturday all. Just checking in to say that I feel like surgery never even happened. I feel as good as I did prior to surgery. Now to take my time and go phase to phase with this post op diet.

should i be scared?
It is natural to be afraid of the unknown but honestly there is nothing to be scared of. I had my surgery 4 days ago and you wouldn't even know by the way I feel today. I was uncomfortable for a couple of days at most. Just look ahead at the good that will come from this experience.

Do I really need Lap Band?
You're doing the right thing. Take your time and do all of the soul-searching and research you need until you are positive one way or the other. You are young and the lapband isn't going anywhere. You've got 4 posts here showing the positive side of surgery. Look around and read the negatives as well. I wish you luck in whichever decision you make.

Today is a Big Day
Congrats!!!!!

Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto!! Nobody has made that comment to me yet but my response has been rehearsed, "What is wrong with taking the easy way out?"

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
My surgery was Tuesday as well. Thursday was my worst day as far as soreness and gas go. I felt great today. The fact that I had surgery 3 days ago slipped my mind until I attempted to lift a 38 pound bag of dog food. Had to settle for a couple of smaller bags for now. I don't feel any different when I drink either. I can still guzzle a half liter bottle of water with no ill affects.

two weeks post op ....a lil depressed
Our bodies take a minimum of 4 weeks to heal. The older we are the longer. The healing process includes excess fluids and scar tissue. Give it a little time and look at the positive, you're not gaining.

Need some friends to help me stay the course!
Everyone was the new kid in the sandbox at one time. In no time flat you'll see the next wave of people coming through and you'll feel like an old pro. You can help them out the same way others helped you. I may be the only one but I actually enjoyed the 5 month wait between consult and surgery. I read and read and read to make sure I was doing the right thing. I think those that have little or no wait are missing out on some quality soul-searching time. And it's ok to step back from the website a few days at a time. We aren't going anywhere and I promise you won't miss anything vitally important. Good luck.

Has anyone else....
Congrats on the weight loss!! That is more than a pound a week and nothing to be down about. You're losing. That is all that matters. I can't help with the soreness. Did you mention it to the doctor or nurse during your fill?

Cheating or Good Planning?
You enjoyed a snack. Big deal! Don't you dare lose a second of sleep over it. I hope I've given up fast food for good but I plan on eating chips and dip once in a while when I get back to normal. I just wouldn't do it if I was supposed to be on liquids or mushies.
