  1. I had my second fill Monday and my diet has changed. I got stuck the day after my fill and it scared me. I am very careful now to chew, chew, chew and take smaller bites. I am a little bit afraid also...so I know what ya mean! We cannot eat like we used to and if you are to get to your sweet spot then you must follow a set of guidelines that we all must adhere to. My portions are much, much smaller. But I'm in the same boat with the "fear" part of your post. The good news is my scale is actually moving again! Take care and best wishes!!!
  2. I wish you the best of luck. It was hard for me...even on Chantix...keep us posted!!!
  3. Diet is a strong word. However, we need to make major adjustments to the way we eat. I now have a little restriction and eating is a bit more of a chore, I must admit. Some might choose to call it a diet but with proper food choices and the portion control the band offers we are sure to be successful!!! Best wishes!
  4. Sluggo, You can ask for an aggresive fill. This is where you kind of set the limit (within reason). I asked last Monday and was given what I asked for. I'm now at 5ccs in a 10 band. I have some restriction now but am still not at my sweet spot. Hang in there and ask them to, "filler' up" :scared2: You will know when the band begins to work. Best wishes!!!
  5. It's actually listed on a scale of 1-5. One and two being a nonsmoker, 3 is a higher rating, and 4 & 5 being a smoker. I believe you can get a score of 2-3 to pass it. I was a 2. I only know because I saw the results explained. They can tell if your on the patch vs. "cheating" per say. I know it's more defined than "pass" "fail". I'm just not sure of the details (if this makes sense to anyone :scared2:). Best wishes always!!!
  6. I gained 4lbs also. But soon lost it. It's the fluids they give you in your IV. A grumbling stomach does not mean you have to pass gas. My stomach grumbles all the time. I took GasX and walked and walked and walked. I believe that walking helped me heal faster. Hope you're feeling better real soon...
  7. They do a blood test and they can tell if you've even had ONE cig. I used Chantix. It really helps ALOT! But it gives you vivid dreams. You need a prescription for it though. Best wishes to you...
  8. Some of us have lost a lot, some a little. Just remember that after you are banded there is a time period to be aware of that you might even gain weight! :rolleyes2: Before you get any fills, and after the swelling goes down, you are in a time period of not feeling the band at all. This is discouraging and anticlimatic for us banders. But no worries, after several fills you feel the band. I got stuck last night for the first time and boy did I know the band was there!!! Only had two fills so far. I've lost 35 lbs. to date. Best wishes!!!
  9. I love them just steamed! But I guess that's a thing of the past. I did cut it up but didn't chew it enough. Thanks for the suggestion...I'll try it when I'm past my fear of them again...lol:w00t:
  10. Wow!! 18 lbs. That's awesome!!! Keep up the good work. Hopefully it won't be as hard this time with your new fill!!! Congrats!!! and Woohoo!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
  11. Wow! Band Groupie your ticker is amazing and you drink beer. I really thought I'd never have beer again and on a hot summer day there's nothing like a Coor's light!!! Thanks for showing me that it can be done!!! Not that I'll drink that much. But just knowing that I can drink it (occasionally) and not be fat is amazing!!!
  12. Yes, yes it is. From now on I chew my food dutifully!!!
  13. I drink coffee every morning and when I go to Starbuck's I do the skinny menu too. Love there Skinny Vanilla Latte with Splenda.
  14. Well???????????????????? :thumbup::confused::thumbup::confused:
  15. You did the right thing! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Maybe she really wasn't a TRUE friend to begin with and just not worth it! Hugs your way...
  16. It happened at dinner. I made a nice piece of Orange Roughy, rice and brussell sprouts. I got my second fill yesterday (5/10ccs). So, I'm halfway....Anyway, I took a bite of fish...no problem...then a brussell...keep in mind I'm hungry. I didn't chew the brussell enough and Bang there was that pain that everyone keeps describing to me. Right between my breast bone. I, like another poster on this forum, did my Lamaze breathing. It hurt like the dickens. Some sliming. No PBing. It passed and I was officially done with dinner. No problem! No brussell sprouts for a while either...lol. But NOW, I feel like a member of Bandland!
  17. Very interesting!!! I thought I would never have a beer ever again. I think before I try anything I will lose the weight first...but who would of thunk...lol
  18. Keep on bitchin'!! I'm with ya sister!!! We're all in this together...lol
  19. I drink red wine. It is empty calories though, so be careful. I was able to drink as soon as I went back to solid food but didn't until about 4 weeks out. I know this summer I will miss having a beer every once in a while, but I don't want to stretch my pouch either. So no way, Jose!!! Won't touch soda ever again either. No bubbles!!!
  20. I am in the same boat! I got my second fill yesterday and have NO restriction. I ate an entire can of chili for lunch! This is nuts! I really appreciate hearing about your restriction (Melspage). It helps a lot. We, who have no restriction, need to keep on hearin' this! I can't wait until I can only eat 1/2 the can of chili as the serving suggests. And I know I'll be hungry before dinner. How can this be? I just had an entire 2ccs added to my band yesterday. And I've felt nothing, nada, zip!!!
  21. I suffer from depression and anxiety. I see a psychatrist for my meds. Since he added Abilify to my meds I have seen a drastic change to my mood...for the better! My anxiety is not any better though. I take Xanax when needed for this. Having Lap Band surgery is anticlimatic. You were working towards a goal and that goal is now accomplished. Often people suffering from depression get depressed when their goals are accomplished. Maybe this explains it for you. I would talk to your doctor and maybe see a psychatrist. Best wishes and hugs to you....
  22. So glad to hear this!!! Had my second fill yesterday and not feelin' it!!! Can't wait until 2 weeks from now when I get my next fill!!!
  23. Best Wishes!!!! We're thinking of you!!!
  24. Many of us gain weight inbetween the time period of being banded and getting our fills. This is common. Please don't be too hard on yourself. Perhaps you need to log your meals and count your calories. Perhaps your not eating enough. Perhaps what you are eating is high in calories. It really helps to write down everything you eat and count calories, fat, carbs and protein. I put everything into thedailyplate.com. It does a lot of the work for you. Best wishes and hugs to you...
  25. Wow!!! That's fantastic. You're an inspiration to all of us!!!:cursing::thumbup::thumbup::bolt::thumbup:
