Dave Ramsey fan? I don't have that kind of patience...but neither do I think it's a good idea for someone with bad credit to finance all of their surgery. But that's just my opinion...to each his own.

I have a whole thread of pictures if you look at my posts of the room. Great nurses, great bed, clean, nice companion bed, very quiet

I just had to comment! I had surgery with dr garcia 3 mos ago and could not be happier!!!!! Love love love him! I was at Mi hospital but I'm sure the staff is just as good as Florence! (Jealous cause florence looks amazing and I didn't have that option back then)
    Good luck!!!

I am at Florence Hospital now. The nurses are very nice. Most of them speak English. No issues with the IV or anything else. The hospital seems small, but fully equipped. Rooms are private with a futon bed of sorts for your guest. AC is vey cold!!! Rooms have flat screen tv; however you can only get one channel which is in Spanish. I was told that this is due to them switching to digital. Other than that, so far so good.

I was in florence back in April, the nurses were great. I was really dehydrated so they waited to do my IV until I was in the OR and I didn't have issues with it after that. They are round the clock with nausea and pain meds, they come immediately when you call them and I never heard them. I only had one that didn't speak english. I went in early april and I thought the temp was fine. Dr Luna visited me everyday

I am leaning more towards choosing Garcia as my doctor since he is cheaper and I can really use the extra money towards something else.
I was hoping to find more people on here that used Dr. Garcia at florence hospital because that's where I want to go. Not Mi hospital. I've read lots of people experiences in that one.

I've had two surgeries where I had no food and Water after going to bed. They had no problems with my veins. Also most experienced nurses should not have trouble with veins. For some reason a lot of people on here are having problems with Mexico nurses and veins. Makes me wonder if they have had any training.

Wow!!! I'm so glad to hear your not counting calories and can eat small bites of anything you want. That's what I'm hoping for. I don't want to be obsessing and counting every calorie. I want to just enjoy eating less.

I've found a passport office that does walk ins. Will be going there next week. I called several post offices and they are all quoting 3 weeks or more before I can even get an appointment!

Maybe tell them about the surgery but not about Mexico. At least not until you have the money lol.

Huge plus is Aceves performs his surgery in an actual hospital. Google all the so called hospitals other doctors do it at. You cannot find any info on them.

Olivia23 reacted to AussieLady in STOP CALLING IT A TOOL!
I am so over hearing people simplify this major surgery by calling it a tool. My darling Dad, who died 2 weeks ago, had this surgery 30 years ago because he had a huge tumor in his stomach. I guess he was a test case for us fat people. He didn't choose to have 3/4 of his stomach removed like we do. He wasn't desperate to be thin or want to wear a bikini or want to be like his friends or have blood pressure or diabetes problems, he hade a healthy diet and exercise regime, he wasn't lazy or the hundred other reasons we all claim to be the best reasons in the world for us to have this surgery.
He had this surgery to save his life, if he didn't he would have died.
I had this surgery to save my life and I am so over this disrespectful simplification of this major life saving surgery by calling it a tool. A hammer, drill, screwdriver, saw and jackhammer are tools. This is major surgery! Calling it a tool just makes it seem like Weight-watchers or Jenny Craig for people who have no idea what they are getting themselves into.
For example, why don't we talk more about the fact that if you get bowel cancer after you have been sleeved you are doomed to die because we don't have any excess stomach to replace the cancerous part of our bowel. Oh. And should we get stomach cancer then say goodbye because we are all left with the minimum amount of stomach we need to live.
I don't want to be over-dramatic, but a TOOL, that's misleading and insulting.

    Olivia,
Florence/Oasis is a full hospital with a blood bank and real ICU. It's actually a world renowned cancer hospital specializing in late stage cancer. There were people from Europe, New York and a lot of Amish folks.
When you pull up the first building is a one or 2 level building with a very nice lobby etc. The Bariatric section is in this building. There are 2 tall, multilevel buildings connected behind it.
I've worked in healthcare 15ish years and I have no idea where you get this hospital isn't a real one.
Oh and the nurse got my IV in on the first try and I am an IV therapist's nightmare lol.

Just so you know that being a Center of Excellence means that the have to do so many surgeries a month to get that title. I went to a weight loss seminar at a local hospital and the surgeon said they were a Center of Excellence then he explained how they got that title.
