  1. Glad your feeling better!
  2. So funny to sit down and this is the first thread I see. I bent over about 10 minutes ago to pick up my daughters shoes...and I gave the biggest, loudest burp since surgery. OMG did it feel wonderful! So much pressure was released! LOL
  3. Hi Jessica- Im glad your doing so well. That would be great if we could be friends. It is better talking with people going through the same stages. I.. of course love that others have gone before me as well! LOL Today has been soooo much better for me. I am at work and am sipping a Protein Drink slowly. I started at about 745am and Im down about 12 ounces. No pain, yet. I am really hungry today though. My tummy is really roaring!
  4. They stated that it wasn't filled but when he flushes the band, there may be some fluid that is leftover in the band. If my "problem" persists to call tomorrow and he would see me. Thanks!
  5. I have never made it out of clear liquids. Was supposed to start Protein liquids on thursday but Im scared. Ive only attempted broth, Water and Protein powder in water. Did manage a SF popsicle this evening...so far, so good
  6. I also was banded on 11/12 and should have been on clear liquids for a week. Well, I can't even get a protein drink made with water down!!! WTH! Called doc today and he said it is swelling.......this is not fun:thumbdown:
  7. Lightheadedness and hot flashes...Im with you on that one! I have 3 sets of clothes on my bed side from tank top to hoody sweat shirt. The sweats come with pain and being uncomfortable. Hope we make it through this...this is not nice!
  8. Thank you so much. I have been coming back to the PC to check the board for a response. I will follow your advice and call in the am to find out whats going on. Thanks again. Im going to bed now. The best way around this pain...
  9. I was banded on Thursday. Doing OK...generally feeling better each day. Today was the first day that I was able to get down my whole protein shake and a popsicle. About 3 hours later, I started feeling extreme pain in my stomach. I had to leave to get my daughter from after school care and it takes me 30 minutes. Sweating, severe pain, painful burbs and gas. By the time i got to th edriveway, I was vomiting into a cup I had in the truck! About 5 times, nothing but bubbles and saliva because I havent eaten anything since last tuesday. I feel like I did the day after surgery!! I came home and took my meds, AGAIN! Is this normal? I don't understand how I upset anything if everything is liquid going in...
  10. I am 4 days post-op and it has been much worse than I anticipated. I really expected to be up and around by the 3rd day. I did feel somewhat human yesterday but got tired very easily. I was able to sleep without pain meds lastnight and today I woke up feeling 80% human! I immediately looked around my house and went to work....dishes, laundry and picking up! GUESS WHAT! I feel like crap! I am back on the couch and I bet I won't do it tonight or tomorrow. I go back to work on Wednesday and I hope to be at least 95% human. My sites are healing wonderfully and I am starving but controlling with protein drinks. I feel the worst is over. Of course I had to learn the hard way
  11. I was banded on Thursday 11/12. I was fine the first day, was able to drink 8oz Protein drink and then all h*ll broke loose. Felt like everytime I took a drink of Water, or Protein Drink I was getting stuck. I was taking too big of gulps. Today is 3 days post-op and I have eaten a popsicle and drank about 3 oz of protein drink! Im taking it easy and lying down when i need it! Best of luck to you
  12. I was banded yesterday at Beebe Hospital in Delaware, by Dr. Zarif. After some scheduling problems and a Nor'eastern storm I made it into surgery at 12 noon. I was out by 1:15 and awake by 2:30. Very little pain, just felt like a bad tummy ache. Dr. gave me Tylenol w/ Codeine liquid and that has been helping. Slept perfect lastnight, getting in and out of bed was easy for the most part. This morning, my left shoulder was killing me and after doing some arm circle exercises and stretching I took some pain medication and laid down. I woke up about 1 hour later and the pain was gone. I was able to get down 12 ounces of protein drink by sipping and sipping water in between. So all in all, I had a wonderful experience! In the recovery room after surgery there was a wrapped gift box that was brought to me. The wonderful nurses begged me to open it and what I found inside was this... A beautiful gold stamp that said, "A gift for you ...As you begin this journey" and inside was a water bottle, pedometer, book of positive inspirations, samples of vitamins and protein drinks. This came from my surgeons office! How awesome was that??!?!?!? So, I am doing fine and will keep in touch as the days continue.
  13. Hi there. I do 30 minutes quick walking at lunch time about 5X a week and 30-45 minutes 5-7X aweek on the Wii. I have used Golds Gym Cardio, and Wii Fit. I have EA active and the new one from them on my christmas list! I also have a treadmill and tend to do my Wii before I will do that!! The step aerobics are incredible and I can add my own arm movements. To answer your question....If I do more than 45 minutes I am hurting pretty bad in my hips and lower back the next morning. (arthritis)
  14. I completely understand what you mean! I think the difference for me is that I was so STRICT in the past that if I "messed-up" by eating anything that was unhealthy, I just threw it all away. This past weekend, with permission from my nutritionist, I had a half cheesesteak (no mayo, lite cheese and the bread gutted) and a piece of my birthday cake. It was my birthday and I was not going to jeopardize the surgery or outcome. I had that meal and 4 cocktails.....with no weight gain all weekend. I was so excited. I think I have actually learned to eat in moderation and for the first time in my 40yrs.....listen to my "full" button. Please let me know as you go through your appt how things go for you...how much do you have to lose?
  15. How do you get it to apply though? I tried all of the URL's???
  16. Why does the URL when put in the space tell me that it is invalid?????? I have tried this many times and stop because of frustration. Please help.
  17. I was told Yogurt has natural sugar in it. I believe they meant no "added" sugar. food lion carries a brand with no added sugar
  18. Interesting post...My nutritionist explained that everyone has a different life and schedule. As long as you were eating every 4 hours and not hungry in between, it was good! If you are living 17hour hectic days, 3 meals wouldn't be enough for you. I would try to adjust when your eating or spacing out smaller protein filled items. Cottage cheese, etc. Food logs are incredible for me personally. Just my 2 cents worth...
  19. I walk during my lunch at work with a co-worker for 30 minutes. Sometimes we can get in about 1.5miles. I then do about 30 minutes of Wii fit...mostly aerobics in the evenings. I have always been very active even in the 300# but because of that and the damage to my joints, I have to be careful with certain exercise. I love weight training and boxing. When i added the Wii fit, I doubled my weight loss!. So any movement is good movement!
  20. Make that Triplets!!! Me too on Thursday! I only had pre-op diet since last friday though. I am breezing through this because I had worked so hard in the last 2 months. I do have too confess though...I wish I would of had a "last meal". My birthday was Sunday and I did have a piece of b-day cake. (very small) but counted the calories in my daily log!!! What a wonderful road all 3 of us have ahead of us!!!
  21. I LOVE,LOVE the Boca burgers. I also have used the chicken ones. I use these open faced on high Fiber wh wheat bread with spinach! yummy!
  22. I had to complete a documented 6 month diet with nutritionist. I started the process in late April and had my last appt with doctor on October 21st. I was approved on the 24th and scheduled for surgery on Nov 12th! The first 3 months ...my head wasn't in it. I had lost and gained so much weight throu my life I just wanted to not think about it. I actually gained about 15 lbs from April to Sept. Then I just realized one day that I had to be invested. I had waited all this time and "What if they still denied me?" I still wanted to lose the weight and get healthy. So I woke up that next day and BAM! I've been on track ever since. I have lost 36lbs since middle of September and feel great. The pre-op has been easy for me and I also started walking 30 minutes a day and light areobics 30 minutes about 5X a week. The insurance i think was just doing what their policy said. and I would imagine that there are some that give up when they hear they have to wait 6 months. Not me....I'm stubborn!! Keep me informed about your progress, stay on top of it!
  23. I had 2 sleep studies done. They aren't all that bad. I wore a sports bra.(cotton/comfy) and some cotton shorts. The techs, Im sure see all kinds of stuff while your sleeping....LOL
  24. Hi Janine. I am 39 and started this journey at 324. G-Bypass wasn't ever in my mind to do. I had mild sleep apnea as well but the pulmonary doctor decided not to treat me prior to surgery because during my second sleep study my sleep improved little. ( i didnt have much sleep disturbance at all) I have fair knowledge about nutrition and what works in my body. I have always been a healthy eater but had severe portion control issues and would binge when cravings would come over me. I was always active and never drank soda, candy or sweets regularly. But at my highest was 347! So...I say all of that to say, you are an absolute candidate for Lapband and I encourage you to seek out a surgeon who is open to what their patient needs are. best of luck!
