issues with alcohol after surgery
Something else I want to mention...(non-professional My body hates alcohol. I love it, but my body doesn't use it as just calories taking in. I could have 3 measured drinks and count calories and it would stall my lose or even make me gain. This has been true for the last 25 yrs for me and I know it has something to do with the way my body processes the sugar in alcohol. I can have 2 glasses of wine, literally 4 oz each and my weight is higher for at least 48 hours after. I get puffy and retain fluid. My body just doesn't do well with alcohol in my diet. Every time I have successfully lost weight I have excluded alcohol all together. And when I start to drink again, I start to gain again. I want to mention that I am not a regular drinker. Maybe 1-2 times a month....Just some food for thought

Almost 4 weeks since surgery...Can I have a freakin drink??
Most things in life are OK in moderation. That includes food, alcohol, shopping, gambling...etc...etc. I could go on for days, but the fact of the matter is that this is all a learning experience because if we were all able to "control" ourselves and all of our things in moderation we wouldn't be on this board. So, with that....I have indulged twice since being banded. Prior to healthy lifestyle, I could easy drink a small bottle of wine at a holiday or dinner party. Since the band...half way through the first glass, I am buzzed. I like my new life!

Please help me settle this once and for all........
I absolutely agree! I could see if you were just filled a few days ago and I would say give it some time, but it's been 10 dyas. I would have to look at it from th epoint of..."Could I live like this and is it healthy for me?" Isn't that why we get the band to begin with?(at least partial reason...LOL)

A little frustrated with myself...
Thank you so much! I will send you a personal message some time today.

A little frustrated with myself...
Thanks! I actually make the mini meatloaves in a muffin pan. It usually makes a 2.75oz or 3 oz meatloaf. I was banded Nov 12. I started my pre surgery healthy eating Labor day of this year, I was 324lbs. I weighed in at 259 on Wednesday at doc's appt. I had lost 15lbs after surgery, but became dehydrated and gained 17 back after I started eating solid foods. At my 6 week followup 12/23 my weight was 285lbs.

A little frustrated with myself...
Personally- My biggest tool for success is being prepared. I cook on Sundays for the week. I prepare everything from scratch. This allows minimal sodium and sugar in the things I make. I make things like chicken salad, mini meatloaves, shrimp salad, hearty chili...etc. I have small containers 1/2 cup and 1 cup. Every evening before bed when I make my daughters lunch for school the following day, I get mine together as well and put in my lunch bag in the refrigerator all ready packed! This leaves less time to re-think my choices and if Im rushing out the door, no excuse for fastfood! I pack breakfast, lunch and late afternoon snack, because I leave the house at 615am and don't get dinner until 6pm. I am averaging 4-5 lbs loss a week and I have no cravings, and my hunger is under control or if I have an "off day" I have a snack. High protein of course. I keep an almond mixture at work, already portioned out. Just something that has worked for me and wanted to share! GOOD LUCK

Wii Fit Question
Keep in mind that if you use it on carpet, your weight will be significantly lower than true weight. This may get you on sooner if your over 330.

issues with alcohol after surgery
It does not take a long time for your body to become dependent on alcohol. Alcohol is a physically addictive substance. By stopping abruptly, you can die if not properly tapered or detoxed. It can cause tremors, seizures, spike in blood pressure, and many other major medical issues. Please talk to your doctor about this. I do not know how much or how long you have been drinking so I am speaking in general......

Really weird question for those who have lost a significant amount of weight :D
I actually feel/get taller! Now...I have to explain myself. Even at 340+ I NEVER had a butt. So I think I actually sit on my butt bone. HaHa:lol: I am tall to start with 5.9 but after losing these 60 pounds, I feel like Im 6ft tall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wii Fit Question
Hey there! I first used the Wii Fit at 330+lbs. I was 324 in Sept 2009 and was doing 30 minutes of advanced step aerobics 4X a week. I had no idea there was a weight limit!! I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had known. In December I was 280-285lbs and was doing 5X a week advanced Step Aerobics AND 30 minutes of EA sports using the board. I wouldn't recommend jumping up and down on it, however....You could benefit from using it moderately until you get close to 300lbs. Just my 2 cents:thumbup:

Sad news
I went in for my month follow-up from my first fill. I lost 24# in a month. He was not going to give me a fill, but we talked. I mean really talked. I explained that I didn't want to have vomiting and I wanted to be able to go to dinner or eat a meal with family without excusing myself! Too tight would not work for me. I explained that I was "dieting" had no stuck episodes BUT I was eating every 2 hours because I was hungry and my body was telling me it was hungry. I am also exercising 5 out of 7 days. I couod still gulp water and eat 6 oz of protein at dinner and 1 full cup of veggies! I have eliminated added sugar anbd most all carbs....He agreed to .75. I have been on liquids allday with no problem and had soup for dinner. I was full after 3/4 cup. I am looking forward to having this be my "sweet spot"!

Hair Loss, Protein, Bioten etc...
All of those things you are eating is great...but how much at each meal are you getting? If you are only eating a few bites of chicken or egg (per meal), thats not enough. Remember that your body can only use about 25gr of protein at a time. I have dieted in the past many times and lost a ton of hair....so far Im doing great with that. My nutritionist and I have actually discussed hair loss and she reviews my meal plans. Hope this helps

Weighing Yourself?
i was just talking to a co-worker on Tuesday about this...I am obsessed with the scale! i have always, always weighed myself twice A DAY! Morning and night...It's a sickness! When I was 346 lbs, I still weighed myself daily to see how much I had gained or lost. I have actually gone out to a store that was open 24hrs and purchased a scale when mine broke late at night.... I have made a decision to remove my scale from my house and take to my mothers. I see her once a week. This is a huge step for me. FYI...my scale now weighs at 1/10th of a pound:unsure:

Who else is on 800 calories
I try to keep at or under 1000. My typical day may be something like this... 2 hard boiled eggs w/ olive oil mayo 7-8 low salt crackers 1 cup of leftovers: could be 4 oz of Tilapia or 3.5 ounces of homemade meat loaf w/ steamed veggies 5-6 oz of fresh fish or 3.5 oz of meat loaf or 4 oz chix breast baked w/ steamed veggies or salad with no sugar added dressing. I do not eat added sugar and I do not eat processed foods. I also drink a crazy amount of Water...somewhere around 100-120 oz daily

Mii and my Wii!
Ive had the Wii for almost a year now. But actually just started using this past fall. I first bought Gold's Gym cardo and started the boxing. Love that, but it got boring fast. I then started using the Wii Fit here and there maybe 3X a week presurgery. I was banded 11/12/09. At Christmas I got the EA Sports...I absolutely love this workout! I have done the pres-set workouts, and made several of my own workouts. My workout schedule currently is 5-6X a week I do 30 minutes(6-5minute sessions) of advance step on Wii fit and a 25 minute workout on EA Sports. I also have a treadmill at home and have not used it since being banded just because what I am doing is working. I have seen a HUGE difference with incorporating this in my lifestyle change. I highly recommend the EA Sports, there is a ton of things you can mix and match on the program...even dancing!

do unfills=party!!!
addiction talk....."You had a relapse." When we relapse with food, we get the same feelings of failure, incompetent, guilt and depression as a drug or alcohol addict would after trying so hard to JUST STOP! The wonderful and blessed thing is that we do have these tools that can help in getting back into our recovery from food that has taken control over us...once again. Good Luck

Why are you losing weight?
Jumping in head first on this one...I was tired of being the "biggest" person in every room I entered. I was tired of being the "really big girl", "yah, but you are so tall"! This is my reality. I am not a shallow person and have NEVER worried what people thought of me. This changed when I started seeing my daughters reaction to people looking at me. That is when it HAD to change for me. No questions asked. She is turning 10. She ask me to stop smoking for her birthday when she was turning 7. That was all she wanted, because she was worried about who was going to raise her when i died of cancer. She knew that smoking kills, but at 7, she couldn't know the problems I was bound to have because of obesity. I stopped smoking the eve of her birthday in 2007 cold turkey and this is just the next gift to both her and me.

Chicken Salad Without Mayo.....
I start with 2 large chicken breasts, fresh off of the baked bird. Cut up the chicken into about 1/2 inch squares. Then put about 1Tbs of mayo w/Olive Oil AND about 2-3 TBS of creamy Grey Poupon Dijon mustard, onion and cracked black pepper and sea salt. It makes about 1.5 cups of wonderful chicken salad. If it is still warm, I mix in steamed cauliflower and broccoli mixture after I dice them up. Makes a great meal!
