A little frustrated with myself...

Recommended Posts

I was banded in September and have only lost 15 pounds, but gained back 3 over the holidays. I had one fill early November, quickly realized it wasn't enough but decided against another one until after the holidays. I went back to the dr on Tuesday to get another fill and mentioned that while I can eat alot more than I think I should be able to, bread and rice are getting stuck.

He would not do the fill, he said that I must be eating too many slider foods and that I needed to lose 10 pounds before he would do another fill. Anyway, I knew this and I just need a swift kick in the pants!! I went right back to my old ways. Soooo, started Weight Watchers, and it is amazing how filled up I get now that I am on a regular diet. But, I can still eat a lot more than ought to be able to and I get hungry so fast.

Fill that void with Protein or things that stick with you like oatmeal, etc... Only real suggestion I have... I make sure everything I eat has high protein or protein added to it.. Even something like SF jello.. I'll mix in some greek yogurt to give it protein, SF pudding, mix in some Protein Powder, etc... Keeps hunger at bay.

Personally- My biggest tool for success is being prepared. I cook on Sundays for the week. I prepare everything from scratch. This allows minimal sodium and sugar in the things I make. I make things like chicken salad, mini meatloaves, shrimp salad, hearty chili...etc. I have small containers 1/2 cup and 1 cup. Every evening before bed when I make my daughters lunch for school the following day, I get mine together as well and put in my lunch bag in the refrigerator all ready packed! This leaves less time to re-think my choices and if Im rushing out the door, no excuse for fastfood! I pack Breakfast, lunch and late afternoon snack, because I leave the house at 615am and don't get dinner until 6pm. I am averaging 4-5 lbs loss a week and I have no cravings, and my hunger is under control or if I have an "off day" I have a snack. High Protein of course. I keep an almond mixture at work, already portioned out.

Just something that has worked for me and wanted to share! GOOD LUCK

Stacy, I love these menu items. Thanks for sharing. Did you get your band two months ago and already lost 63 pounds?

Thanks! I actually make the mini meatloaves in a muffin pan. It usually makes a 2.75oz or 3 oz meatloaf.

I was banded Nov 12. I started my pre surgery healthy eating Labor day of this year, I was 324lbs. I weighed in at 259 on Wednesday at doc's appt.

I had lost 15lbs after surgery, but became dehydrated and gained 17 back after I started eating solid foods.

At my 6 week followup 12/23 my weight was 285lbs.

He would not do the fill, he said that I must be eating too many slider foods and that I needed to lose 10 pounds before he would do another fill..

How many cc's in your band? Do you have restriction?

If not, then you should print off some literature from the lap band site for your doctor. The band was not meant to be a carrot/stick reward for losing weight. It was meant to be a tool to help lose that weight. He is misusing/abusing the fills if this is what he is doing.

If you have restriction (meaning you are not hungry and not able to eat to excess eating good food choices and not slider foods), then go ahead and kick yourself in the butt.

ElfiePoo is right on target. I was appalled at how your doctor treated you, what he said to you. Horses' patootie!!!!

Mimi

I agree. Each time I needed a fill due to being hungry all the time, I guarantee I could have PB'd on bread regardless.

Kristi99 (thread starter) and I both have the same surgeon and he is very nice and very slow with the fills. He wants people to learn new way of eating not just get filled as fast as you can.

I have been banded for 6 months and only have 3cc's. I am glad he goes slow so I can get use to everything slowly.

When I am ready to leave after my 3 fills I always ask when should I come back and he usually says lose 15 lbs and then come back. I have only lost 50 lbs so far, but I happy that he has done this slow. Hang in there Kristi99 it will get better for you.

Thanks for your advice everyone! I appreciate it. My dr was actually very kind and is one of the best lap-band surgeons (if not the best) in Houston. I did a lot of research before I chose someone.

I did agree with what he had to say and I have not been following the rules. Through the holidays, I ate quite a bit and mostly slider foods. Now that I am on Weight Watchers, I am surprised at how little I can eat. The good food does fill you up more than the junk!

I at a small piece of turkey, some fresh spinich, and a few spoons of brown rice for dinner and I feel like I am going to explode. An orange will keep me full for two hours, but if I eat a banana I will immediately be hungry. I just need to eat filling foods...

Again, thanks so much!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
