Tamie got a reaction from MarQuida in Does the Acid Reflux get worse over time?
I to was banded in 09 with no problems until this summer. Same as you same symptoms. Today I had an unfill of 6cc and a CT scan. I have a hh. I’m not sure what’s next but I’m thinking nothing good.
I was throwing up in my sleep just clear bitter liquid, diet does not help but tonight I feel so much better.
Good luck and don’t wait to long or it can get worse.

I got to the part where you said you're eating a double cheeseburger, fries and a coke and I think I found your problem...No offense but I think you need some tough love right now..Youre eating like complete crap and I hope you realize that..No amount of surgery is going to help you until you clean that diet plan up...

Tamie reacted to Travelher in Why does the lapband fail
My worked for me reasonably well until I had my son. Afterwards the fills did not work. I would be so restricted in the mornings I struggled to swallow saliva or Water. I felt no restriction in the evening. I had acid reflux so bad that I would wake up choking. I had a partial de-fill and decided I would just have to live at my post pregnancy weight and then it failed entirely..I went to have it tested and there was no saline in it. It wasn't holding a fill. I had it put in in 2005 and removed and revised to bypass a month ago...it was such a relief.

My first fill went fine, one poke and 3cc. Second attempt 10 pokes, no go, went to xray and port was flipped completely over. Dr tried manually turning it back, but wouldn't budge.
As long as it's just tipped, you should be fine.
Even with this bump in the road, I'd do it again.

Tamie reacted to Christina.Rose in Band-to-sleevies, do you like the sleeve better?
I was revised to the sleeve about a month ago. Got banded 2009. I immediately have noticed a tremendous difference between the two. I have immediately began losing weight. You literally can't hardly eat and don't really want to......AFTER THE POST OP liquids PHASE OF STARVATION HELL.........but that's only about 2 weeks. As soon as you hit puree or soft foods it is crazy how little fills you up. With the band you had to guess if you were in the green zone and get 50 adjustments just to hopefully get full. The sleeve IS the green zone. So much easier and you're not a slave to those damn fill appointments. Soooo much better. Oh, if you eat too much or too fast you can get sick and feel a little "stuck" but not like you are being strangled by your food like the band. Others have thrown up....not me....and you CAN get dumping syndrome if you eat something too fatty or sweet. I have experienced that a couple of times. Sweaty, flushed, rapid heartbeat, nausea, diarrhea. No fun. But that's rare and STILL better than fearing each bite will choke you and slime. This is just what I have experienced so far. Hope it was useful to you.

Tamie reacted to SugarHollowGirl in My Lap Band caused Esophageal Cancer
i recently heard about the connection between Es. Cancer and the lap band. This disturbed me greatly because no one told me anything except that I was the last person to receive it, and any questions as to why were put off. Now I understand WHY they always asked about reflux. I would not have done something that would possibly give me cancer as I am already a survivor. So a couple weeks ago, in the morning I was awoken with this horrendous pain in the middle of my chest as if the back of my esophagus was being pulled through, having a bad back I thought it was this. I took my meds and it went away. It happened the other day and I woke right up and took my meds and went back to sleep. When it happened again this morning I became even more concerned, but pulled all my pillows up and slept sitting up and it went away, but I'm getting really concerned, has anyone else that then was diagnosed with something wrong with their esophagus had these symptoms?

Yes, sounds too tight. I have 5.5 cc in mine. bread tends to get stuck regardless (for me) also steak and green leafy salad. I can eat romaine lettuce just fine, but spring greens tend to stick in my upper portion. I cut everything into super tiny bites (think pencil eraser), I eat sloooow and chew, chew, chew,.

    Lap-banded and love it!

Tamie got a reaction from PrettyThick1 in What is the goal? Satisfied? Full? Restriction? What is the definition of "restriction"?
I was banded in 2009, in 2011 I had port replaced.i am down 106 lbs and holding for two years. I only have 5 cc in and can eat just enough to get "not hungry" but I can also have just a bit more if I really really want to. Again I reached my goal in 9 months and have kept it off. Remember we can't say no to everything all the time but we are responsible for what we put in our mouth. Enjoy your new tool, listen to your body, you will do great. Just pick wisely as you are limited on your space.

My name is Tamie and I was banded in July 2009, I had to have my port replaced in nov 2011 due to a leaky port. I had lost 100 then gained back 50 in that time. Now today I am down 106 lbs I feel great and eat like we are suppose to eat, small portions of anything. I make sure to eat healthy and every now and then I can have a treat. The key is proportions, I still take a lot of different foods for my lunch so I can have variety and this keeps me from straying to bad food. They make a dark chocolate granola that fills my cravings. I still eat on a small plate and my stomach does not like some foods any more but that's ok it just means I don't need them ( bread, tortillas) I have learned to layer my foods to make sure I an getting the right amt of proper Vitamins. Veggies first, then my Protein. Sometimes I just want desert so that is when I pull out yogurt ( vanilla) and add that chocolate granola. Yummy and 140 cal. Also log your food every bite!!!! I use My Fitness Pal, it is great and works with endomondo a exercise tracker. Don't worry just log it, this is for you to help you, another tool in your journey. Tamie got a reaction from Bandista in Post-Band Eating Question
I have friends that still try to sabotage my success. It is what it is, they are large folks, I know what I have to do and stick to it. You can to! I am the cook in my family and it has made my family eat better. If I have three people eating over I cook for three and just skim a bit for my self and then add an extra fruit or veggie as an extra if they need. But that's it and it has been 4 years with no complaints.

Mine changes day to day. Sometimes I can have hot sometimes cold. Your body will tell you. But yes coffee is in my diet. I do sugar free because I don't need the sugar. I waited one week but never had reflux issues. Be careful and take it slow.
