LOL. I did this JUST today. I stayed up too late last night on the computer, so I went to take an afternoon nap in my car at work. I hid the keys in the waistband of my skirt. On the way back, I was in the restroom and I looked in the mirror. You couldn't see the keys. I was thinking to myself, "LOL. how am I gonna hide these when I'm skinnier?" Ok. Let's see. You have never embarrassed/made angry your significant other by asking "Do these jeans/pants/skirt make me look fat?" Oh. and I'm off to look at the list to see what FUPA means. LOL

Is this up and going yet? When I did a search on clothes exchange this message is what came up. I am a business professional and I wear business casual clothes or nicer to work. I have spent thousands of dollars on fashionable, comfortable, business clothes. My favorites are Vicky V. and Casual Corner (August Max). I don't have a lot of casual clothes, but I would like to eventually pass my very nice work clothes on to someone who is just passing through my size, or on to several people even. I think women who wear business professional have huge obligation to look professional at work and doing so takes a good bit of money. I would really like to share my clothes when I no longer need them with someone who could use them and really doesn't have the extra cash to buy clothes.

Ha Ha! I read through the July bandsters post and they talk about this in their posts. They are a pretty funny group. I haven't had my surgery yet, but from looking at the July post....having your breasts taped out of the way is pretty standard. You should go have a look at their thread, they are quite humorous. One lady posted "Ok so, I wanna know whose job was it to hold my 10lb. boobs out of the way?" LOL. cracked me up. lisah25, Goodluck, I am just one day ahead of you. I was much more nervous last week, now im just giddy. yippppeeeeee!

OMG!!! I never realized this until I was just reading this thread... I had somehow repressed or forgot about it. When I was 12 my stepmother complained that the food disappeared to quickly. She would yell & scream at me and ask me what happened to the food. I was too embarrassed to tell her I ate it, so I told her that I fed my 4 friends when they came over. For example, I would eat 4 bags of microwave popcorn in one afternoon. One more, LOL, I forgot about this one too. Age 12 still, after school, I would make toast, put Peanut Butter on the toast and then load it up with pancake syrup. I would always hide this treat behind a chair if someone came while I was eating it. Subconsciously, I must have known they would disapprove. OMG!!! LOL. I just thought of ANOTHER one as I typed the one above. I had an older step-sister, 8 years older, this was when I was 12 still. She had a plastic tub of Kit-Kats (bulk) under her bed that she had bought from Sam's. I would take one out and eat it EVERYDAY. I jusitifed this in my head by thinking that only taking ONE a day, she would never miss or notice they were gone. Honestly, I never knew it went back this far until I read this thread. Thanks for sharing everyone.

Grats Robin, You are really cruzin'! :clap2: Onederland is my first goal too. I will see my best friend 1 month post-op and was hoping to be in Onderland then. Might be a bit aggressive, but everytime I have gone on a diet, I always lose really fast and usually not on purpose. It's the going right back to old habits that is my problem, as well as feeling like I deprived myself on the diet so I need many food rewards. :faint: I suspect my weight loss will be pretty fast too.

Wow I can't believe it is getting close to my day. I am a cancer survivor and my Dr. wouldn't operate until he received a letter from my oncologist at MD Anderson. Well, if any of you out there have ever experienced MD Anderson, then you know how hard it is to get anything from them if you don't have a scheduled appointment. I was beginning to get stressed because I didnt want my day to be pushed out. However, my oncologist's nurse called me at 8pm last night. She had stayed late to make sure I got my letter. I thought that was so nice of her. That means that it is REALLY REALLY gonna happen. :nervous I am seriously having last supper syndrome. I tried a self induced liquid diet for the this last week and I have absolutely no willpower. It is very easy to follow my Dr.'s pre-op instructions.... no carbs.... I have been doing that off and on for years. Just on cutting caffeine and carbs, I can only eat half of a portion of what I was eating a month ago. And if I feel full I stop, I have never ever done that before ever, much less been aware of the feeling. I took one sip of a Diet Dr. Pepper today and gagged because it was so sweet. I am also very addicted to Crystal Light lemonade, which is way better than 3 to 4 sodas a day. I'm rambling... I'll stop now. LOL. I'm just nervous :nervous

I was suppose to start my (self induced) liquid diet yesterday. I had a slimfast chocolate shake in the morning for breakfast. When lunch came I didnt have the will power or desire to have another shake. I had tamales that the house keeper brought me. Then for dinner I went out to a favorite local restaurant. I ate half of what I normally eat and skipped their homemade brewed beer. So, I ate less than half of what I normally do there including no beer! Far cry from liquids only. I am drinking my strawberry slimfast drink for breakfast at the moment. It doesnt really taste that great so it is hard to drink. I take a sip about every 2 minutes. I have been drinking it for 20 minutes so far. I don't even think I am halfway finished. Its Thursday before my surgery on Wednesday and I am very nervous. I still haven't received the letter from my oncologist that he is ok with the procedure. I am going to try to call dr. spivak's office and see if there is a different way to get permission.

Welcome Lisa, I start my liquid diet tomorrow too. Actually, my only requirement is atkins style and clear liquid one day before surgery, but I am going to do liquids for a week because it seems more logical. LOL, I am a band wanna be. I have visited all my favorite restaurants over the last few days and said goodbye to food I know I won't be eating after. LOL. Good luck today Jamie! :clap2: LOL. The craziest thing has been happening to me. I have a mild form of anxiety, which I take daily medication for. And every now and then, I will have an attack, but it is usually related to meeting someone, crowded crazy stores, stuff like that, so it goes away pretty fast. Well.... I just realized at lunch today that I have been having an anxiety attack since yesterday. LOL. It's like I have taken heaps of "speed" pills or something. My hands are doing crazy things on their own. LOL for two days in a row now, I have gotten on the elavator and pushed the multiple wrong buttons. This morning I even hit the emergency button. ROFLMAO!!!! Yesterday, I was sitting at my desk typing and my hand reached over and tried to knock over my Water glass out of no where. Next thing you know, I'm wrestling with my water cup trying to keep it from spilling. LOL!!! LOL!!! I am laughing so hard as I type this. I had no idea I would be this anxious. I have been reading how anxious everyone gets right before hand, but im a walking, talking, mile high goofball atm.

Robin, I have Dr. Spivak too and he told me the only meat that I could eat my first month after banding was fish while I was in the "mushy" phase. Did you not get that same instruction? Badmadmama, I haven't been banded yet but the location of my port is very important to me. Already before banding, my underwire bra hurts and irritates the fat on my stomach when I sit, so the fold on the top of my stomach hits my underwire. I get sore there often already and I mention this to Dr. Spivak. I am sorry that you are in so much pain. :cry Thanks to your post, I am going to voice this as a HUGE concern of mine to Dr. Spivak the day of my surgery now. Ha ha Betty, your mind is in the gutter. I think she meant post surgery when she said "Post SX". LOL Libra, I am glad to hear you are feeling better. Lisah, I went shopping the other day at lunch too when everyone went out for mexican food. I had a great time reading labels and buying items that I am going to need pre and post surgery. tee hee, shopping is the best part! Good job on not giving in and eating the BBQ. :clap2:

KLS, My Dr. requires each patient to learn about both procedures before making a decision. Dr. Spivak stated that 1 out of 8 of his patients choose RNY. I know you understand the risks, so there is really no need to discuss them. IMNHO, If I was afraid that I would try to "cheat" around the band and knew about myself that I couldn't be fully committed to use the band as a tool, then I would have chosen RNY no questions asked. I have already decided to do this surgery, so for me, it was just a matter of determining which surgery was best. You have already expressed concerns that you are afraid that you will work around the band and not lose weight. People who work around the band are in the 15% of patients that have little or no results. I think you are being honest with yourself by admitting that you might try and work around the band and I applaud your bravery in being honest. It would be a shame to spend the money on the lap band and not have it work for you and then later decide to have RNY or not be able to afford a second surgery and be stuck. Many people choose the band because of its reduced risks, however with ANY surgery there can be complications if the surgeon is not reputable. For RNY, I would do research upon research to find the most experienced, responsive, educated RNY Dr. available. The Dr. who does the best Band may not necessarily be the right choice for RNY. I wish you the best with your decision.

Hey Wilsonjw, Are you scared of the operation? not ready to give up food? Haven't had surgery before? I am 12 days pre-op and I am a bit nervous, anxious and excited all at once. I can't say that I would get nervous enough to cancel. I also have a mild anxiety disorder. I have feelings like you are having now but over regular things and I was prescribed Ativan .5 mg. Its not something you take everyday just when you are having an attack. It is similar to Xanax. Maybe you could get your Dr. to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication if you know you want to go through with it, but you are just having a hard time coping with it.

I have been on the low/no carb diet that Dr. Spivak requires. I have decided after reading the forum that I am going to go straight liquids one week pre-op, so that is in 5 days. I am visiting restaurants that I will miss on my one month post op mushy diet. I am practicing my new eating style to get myself mentally prepared. I put my fork or spoon down between each bite. Just eating low carb style, my appetite has greatly reduced and things are tasting too salty and spicy. The salad at Niko Niko's yesterday was terribly salty, however my SIL said it tasted normal to her. I am very excited, nervous and anxious to begin my journey in band land. :nervous I feel that I will lose the weight very quickly. I have never had a problem with dieting. The problem I have is maintaining and keeping it off. So I am a Yo-Yo overweight person.

White Rabbit, You are definitely not alone. I had a situation that was similarly stressful with my father. He was an absentee father that had 3 failed marriages and turned to very heavy drinking for the last 10 years of his life. He tried to commit suicide about 2 years before he died by over dosing on some vicadin and drinking 2 liters of scotch. To his dismay, his neighbor came to check on him and found him on the floor and called 911 immediately. His sister, my aunt, nursed him back to health. I am not really sure how he ended up at my house exactly. I think he was running from the law from a dwi ticket and needed to get out of the state. My family and I took him in under the assumption that he would be with us for a month until he got on his feet. Well I will spare you the two years of agony and pain of what I went through until his death, but know that it was horrible and I necessarily wasn't very happy to be taking care of a father who had never once taken care of me. There are two things that helped me tremendously during those two years and by the time of his death my father had seen another grandson, we repaired our relationship to the best it would get and best of all he died in peace in a loving envrionment without a worry in the world. How did it go from hell to so peaceful? Well, first and foremost I started seeing a counselor through our mental health program at work like people have mentioned in previous posts. It was a long and arduous journey but we worked through everything that was an issue in my life and each time I needed help, we came up with a practical way to confront each issue that worked for me whether it was mental (due to the unhealthy relationship with my father), money related, stress related, etc. The very first thing my counselor did was refer me to my PCP to ask about anti-anxiety, temper controlling, stress coping medication. I started then and am still taking Celexa 40mg. I started taking only 10mg. It may not be the right medication for you that is something for your PCP to decide and you may even choose a more herbal approach, entirely up to you. However, I do recommend that you see your PCP and tell him everything, including situations of where you are extremely overwhelmed to how you feel when you are angry at the situation. The medication for me was able to even out my emotions so I stopped going from 0 to 10 emotionally within 3 secs which is a common symptom of people under too much stress. It gave me the patience and clarity that I needed to deal with everything in a more practical manner instead of being led by my emotions. By taking care of me, I took care of my husband and children, salvaged my job, repaired friendships and resloved issues with my father. Like I mentioned before, even though I was going to counseling and taking medication, it almost took the entire two years before peace was back in my life. I send you....... many, many hugs and I truely know how stressed you feel. Please feel free to PM any time if you need to vent or a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear of any kind. ~ Faybie
