  1. HopeW, I was late August myself and everyone was talking about how hungry they were just about the time I got banded. I remember thinking...."gawd, I can barely drink or sip soup, I can't imagine actually being hungry". Well..... accept that my "head hunger" tried to control me a couple of times. PeloRojo is right, you are right on target where you should be....
  2. Ya know I have been meaning to get to Fashion bug... this lady had on the coolest shirt the other day so I asked her where she got it and it was Fashion Bug.
  3. I for one hate Target or Walmart plus size clothes. They look great sitting there but once you wash them ONE time, you have essentially wasted your money. They fade, shrink, dont hold their shape, I could go on and on. I hate Lane Bryant because they try and sell you all of these designs that look great on skinny people and just make you look like a fat person trying to look like you can wear skinny people clothes. My favorite place went out of business so I can't suggest that.... =( So....my "new" favorite place is the major department stores. They all have "women's" section that you will not be able to find on your own so I suggest asking. It will usually be on the top floor in the very very very back. (I know this because I walked around for an hour one time too embarrassed to ask for the plus size section, never found it - had to ask anyway). Right now most department stores have their previous season fashions on sale 50% to 75% off. I went two days ago in search of a very important basic black dress that I had misplaced. I have just recently been banded so I browsed the sales but didn't buy anything. However, if I were in need of clothes I would have made out like a bandit there were skirts, shirts, pants, tops, tanks, you name it, all name brands for anywhere between $12 to $60. These were all wash and wear materials that would not need dry cleaning. I have several favorties Vicky V, Karen Bane.... Good luck.
  4. Good luck with your Dr. appointment. If they end up taking out your gallbladder that is not such a bad thing. I was reading up on it once and it is not uncommon for a person losing weight to develop gallstones. One cool thing is they will use the same inciscions, so no new scar areas if they have to operate.

Grats! I can't wait to hear about it.... My dream job would be working for Disney as an animator OR a video game tester! LOL.
  6. hmmmm. You might be able to get such a thing from your PCP. He has documents of all of your weights. Oh, thats what Teresita said... LOL... see it's a good idea... LOL.

Good for you! drink that whole gallon! You can doooo it! LOL
  8. This is good advice, I remember reading on one of the posts somewhere on this board that women who weren't filled but getting hungry tried very small servings of salt free peanuts and it seemed to help curb their hunger and cravings for carbs. I am finally starting to get the "not so full" feeling everyone has been talking about. So, I will be looking for salt free peanuts soon myself.

I found a black dress yesterday. Whew! I was able to buy it a size smaller. It's a bit more fashionable too, with its little flare at the bottom. This morning, of course, I put the dress on. I selected a blouse to go over the dress. I put it on and walked to the mirror. The shirt was too big, it looked ridiculous. So, I walked back to the closet and got a second shirt (same size) and looked in the mirror again. The second shirt looked just as bad. LOL. My husband is waiting on me at this point because we carpool. I walked to the closet and got a third shirt, this time a size smaller. It looked great. So, that was my first official "clothes too big" moment. w00t! He He, when I walked out of the bedroom, my husband gave me that "look" that I took too long. I laughed and said I had to try on 3 shirts to find one that wasn't too big. He smiled and said "thats great reason to take so long".

  11. How many cc's does a 9.75 cm band hold?
  12. I found this site today that has some of the most comprehensive information I have seen yet about the surgery and lap band information "all in one place". http://www.surgery.ch/en/default.asp?ID=2753505 I had read a lot of this information before my surgery, but had to read many websites to get this much information. Enjoy! Oh, and I saw this list hanging in my surgery advisor's office and did a web search on it. http://www.lap-band-surgery.org/the-new-diet.cfm
  13. I haven't had a PB yet. Everyone seems to have had one. I guess it is something that happens when you have restriction more than just the band itself.
  14. I didn't necessarily loose my desire to eat either like others claimed or the Dr. claimed might happen. However, what I did find was that my desires were my "head hunger" not my body telling me it was hungry. I can't say that pain was that high either, it was mostly soreness as well. I do remember that Day 5 was the worst of them all, maybe it was like my hump day. The next day, Day 6, was totally different. It was hard to believe that I felt so much better the next day. Maybe Day 7 is your "hump" day. Today is Day 14 for me and the only thing that is still sore is my port incision. Your port is actually sewn to your muscle wall, so it makes perfect sense that it would ache the longest. Hang in there, it sounds like everything you are going through is very normal. Just know that the pain will be over shortly.
  15. I think this is a great idea. I am at the end of the month of August so when viewing and sharing with my August bandsters they were all complaining of this at about 3 weeks as well before I even had my surgery. Someone suggested measuring there as well. I did it right away so I have pre-surgery measurements. I have lost more inches than weight since surgery day. I can't explain it, however it has greatly helped me in seeing results. I am results oriented too, so I know exactly how you feel when the scale doesn't move. One of the other things that has helped me is......I look through the "before and after pictures". It helps me to see the successes of others so that I can be inspired by that since I don't have my own experiences to inspire me as much just yet.
  16. Yep, that's the one I was talking about.
  17. hmmmm.... there was a member nana something, I saw she made costumes in here signature. I tried looking through the member list and couldn't find a name i recognized. Hopefully, she will see this and send you a PM.
  18. I have no regrets, but I am such a "newbie". People have made some really great comments for you to read here, I can't really add much more but to say that I agree with them..... I agree that YOU have to make the decision and be 100% behind it. I agree that a person can eat around the band and have it not work. I agree that it does not help emotional issues in any way, however it does give the courage to fight back with your stomach when you can't with your mind. I agree that surgery is one tiny small step in the right direction and it requires a lot of knowledge, understanding and committment for it to work effectively. P.S. I knew it but didn't really KNOW IT that my head hunger controlled me more than I realized until after surgery. good luck,
  19. Well Penni, I don't know a single thing about anything that happened here on LBT. In words, you don't hear inflection, so often times many things that were meant innocently are taken in the context that the author did not intend. I have been moderator of several boards myself. I have deleted posts, moved posts, locked posts, etc. Not everyone agreed with what I did or why I did it. However the owner of the board was behind me 100%. Sometimes, removing people from the situation can help them calm down and come back more level headed. If you are a moderator, its because you are experienced in Lap band, are on the boards frequently and are willing to help Alex. Just because someone disagrees with a choice you have made in the past, doesn't mean you should feel the need to resign. Most of us here probably have no idea what happened. Learning from your mistakes is growth and maturity, no one is perfect. And yea, people can say they disagree with decisions you have made, however they have no idea how difficult those decisions were to make until they are in the position to have to make them themselves. Just my 2 cents......I don't think mistakes or regrets equal failure. I don't know if its too late however, I think you should reconsider.
  20. From what I am gathering reading websites and posts of people who have had erosion, they have admitted for the most part that they did not stick to 6oz. meals in any way shape or form. Dr. Spivak gives his stats in his seminar, so you don't even have to ask.
  21. What did you learn? just that throwing up is bad? This is interesting to me actually because I am a cancer survivor and there is a chance I will need to go through chemo again. Throwing up is an everyday occurance for chemo patients. I hadn't thought about that....
  22. Ok, ok. LOL. I was trying to be so middle of the road on this one but after seeing the responses, I am going to have to jump off the fence and join in. Phone courtesy is HUGE to me, because (kind of like bathrooms to a restaurant) it lets you see the true colors. When I called Speigels office the lady was short, rude and "didn't have time for my questions or concerns". She wanted my facts and figures including my social security number. I was like O.O. I made my appointment anyway. When I called Dr. Spivak's office the lady who answered the phone was extremely nice and when I went in for the seminar everyone in the office was friendly and the lady remembered talking to me on the phone. Somehow as I was sitting there I imagined that the lady that I spoke to at Speigels office wouldn't have a clue who I was. After my visit with Spivak, I called and cancelled my seminar with Speigal.
  23. I had something that wasn't necessarily "diet" like last night and felt guilty all night until this morning when I was discussing it with my husband. A light bulb went off, I didn't choose the band because I wanted to not eat regular food the rest of my life. I had a half of a handful of what I was eating, where normally I would have a HUGE bag all to myself. As I look back, I have absolutely no reason to feel guilty or upset. I was completely satisfied with my half of handful and that is JUST AMAZING.
  24. I haven't had anything to drink with any meal since banding including my liquids. I really do think this helps me stay full longer. I thought it would be hard to do and it was hard the first week just because its a natural reaction to reach for your drink. I would accidentally reach for my tea or water on occassions. Now, if im at home or work, I make sure nothing is near. If I am at a restaurant, I make them take away the glass. The waiter usually thinks I am crazy and I have had one manager walk over and make sure I was being taken care of properly. LOL.
