Road to "TWOterville"
Hi all, I had to update my signature again as well. I finally gave in!! I've bought some scales! said I wouldnt do it, but I'm sick of getting weighed all over the place so best to have my own...just have to learn not to get weighed evey hour on them....lol Just had a NSV, I waved at an old school friend yesterday as i arrived at my parents and he stopped my brother last night as they were passing each other in the car! and said that I looked great and it looked like I'd lost loads of weight!!! this is a fab nsv for me 'cos he's not the type to make comments like that!! and it came at a good time, I was feeling great having lost 4 stones(56lbs, well im 1lb away but...) so i took some photos, and it brought me down to earth with a bump!! I realised i'm still soooo fat!! i know I'm fat but 'cos I've done so well I was concentrating on the weight I've lost not the weight I still am... Has this happened to anyone else? Julie nyc - we'l miss you in twoterville, but you go girl and maybe one day i'l see you there....lol well done everyone else...c'mon all you people who haven't updated your xmas challenge...lets do it together!!! Road to "TWOterville"
Hi all, well done Libra it just keeps coming off... I've still got my cough and haven't been weighed yet! I think theres a conspiracy against me getting weighed... I decided to pop into the gym just to get weighed and my friend pointed out that I wouldnt make the stairs with my chest at the moment - good point. Then when I was at the drs I asked if he could weigh me and he didn't have scales in the room he was using, so suggested I stopped by the nurse to get her to weigh me - good idea but she had at least 10 of the older generation waiting outside her room fro their flu jabs...so I went home! Then to top it all I decided I was getting so desperate to get weighed that I would buy some scales, something I said I wouldn't do 'cos i'l get obssessed ...and the only scales I could find only went up to 18 stones (approx 252lbs)...so I didn't get any!! What do you think guys? a conspiracy?? so i've now decided I'l just wait until I get to the gym...problem is that weeks ago I was only 2lbs away from twoterville!! and I'm sure that I'm there now but can't celebrate without that confirmation....lol

Sharon Osbourne is removing her band
I think that a lot of what has been printed has probably been misinterpreted by the media ignorance! I saw an interview on TV here in the uk with Sharon and she was discussing the band and nobody actually understood what she was talking about even afer she explained. I beleive that band is still too 'NEW' to the general public therefore making it harder for them to understand. Just look at your own friends who need lots of explanation to help them begin to understand. Looking at Sharon's history i would think theres probably more to this than we or anyone is aware of, if she has been making herself sick regularly then she may have caused some damage to her band and rather than admit that it's easier to blame the band!!

Josette - keep going if you feel up to it while taking the antibiotics!! Libra - you seem to be doing really well!! I can't tell by the xmas challange how much you've lost but you haven't got far to go....you'l get to xmas before any of us at this rate!! Well guys, I've had a terrible chesty cough for nearly 2 weeks now and lots of yuk coming from my chest, the problem I have is I can't tell when I've eaten too much/enough!! and I also can't tell if this yuk is me sliming before a PB... this cough started just before I had my fill so I can't tell how I'm doing foodwise!! it's really difficult at the moment, but I'm trying to stay positive..lol I also haven't been to the gym as anytime I exert myself I'm being sicky!! and thats where I get weighed, never mind sorry about the moan I'm going to try and see my doctor tomorrow about the cough and also try to pop into the gym just to get weighed..take care everyone!

tummy tuck
Telly - that bellybutton is fantastic, it looks real... nanaholmes - you say you had an arm lift and thigh lift, what are the scars like? I was told by my local dr that they are really bad and not to even consider these as you can no longer wear shorts or sleeveless tops. I'm nowhere near needing these yet, but suspect I will in the future and would appreciate your thoughts...

Poll - Are You Attracted To Overweight People?
Ok guys, this is a real issue with me at the moment.... I've been talking to a guy on a website, and he is the kindest, most thoughtful, lovely guy I could ever want... I knew he was a big guy cos I saw his pic showing a chubby face, thats ok I had no problem with that. We met on saturday night and he is huge!!! his pic was obviously off a long time ago. I'm no good at guessing weights but he was super obese, he made me feel petite and im a big girl!! anyway, we got on really well, although he's a bit too quiet for me and he kissed me at the end of the evening, it was nice(it's been a while) but there was no feeling(if you know what I mean!!) Now I have a problem, I have a guy who wants to see me again, me who feels so unattractive due to my size!! and he fits most of my criteria but i dont find him remotely attractive due to his huge tummy and swollen legs... how can I a fat person judge someone like that?? he's really attractive on the inside but not outwardly!! I feel like a really bad person for thinking this, I would hate for someone to think this about me...it's making me all confused! Theres also the issue of food, he wanted to go for a meal I wouldnt cos ive just been filled and have huge restriction (I told him about my band before we met, I though it could be an issue) now I feel bad, going on about how i was soo fat and decided to have a band when he is soo much bigger than me.. I can see in him some of the things I didnt like in me pre band. What do I do guys?? do I see him again or do I just tell him 'can we just be friends' I don't want to hurt him but am sooo confused!! I neve thought I had a problem with big guys, I've been out with a few in the past but he was just too big...

No support from friends.
I must say that i thought i was alone with unsupportive friends... I made my decision alone, went on that long journey of assessment without telling anyone, it was my decsiion and i had to be ok wiht it and certain before telling anyone, I knew they would all have comments to make!! After i was on the waiting list I told my parents, who although surprised were suportive, I then told a few very close friends who all said 'if this is what you want then go for it' so i felt fine ... THEN!! I've lost 46lbs and those supportive friends (who actually are both obese) dont even acknowledge my weight loss, I can tell them ive lost 6lbs to their face and they dont even respond the best I get is if I say im happy with my loss, 'I bet you are' thats my supportive friends!! However, although this hurts initially i can see it for what it is..their insecurity!! you see for years although theyve been big ive been bigger...and therefore made them feel better about themselves!! but not for much longer... So Ive decided I will take my support where I can get it...my parents, a few friends and my lovely support system here!! In conclusion (sorry to waffle), is go for it, nobody knows ourselves like us and only we can make this decision, I have no regrets about doing this only wish i'd done it years ago and if i lose a few friends on the way, then I'l be sad butthey obviously werent meant to be....lol

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Well done everyone! Wheetsin - thats the nsv I want!! not having to ask for an extender belt on an airplane!!! way to go... I got my first fill today, he put in 3mm in a 9mm band although he says the most he would ever fill it to was 7mm. He's really pleased with my progress, although I know my weight has been the same since end of august, by there weigh ins i've lost 7lbs!! since I last saw them. I was feeling as if I had come to a standstill and was doing sooo badly but when I stood in that office with other people who were waiting for there first fill and they had gained or not lost anything at all, although i was sad for them it made me very happy and proud to realise that I had actually achieved 39lbs loss, so pat on the back to me....LOL

Hi, I was banded in sunderland by the same surgeon as sugarplum (we do know each other!!) I'm getting my first fill on thursday, adn can't wait!! I sometimes get really down reading of people in USA who were banded at the same time as me and have 2 fills and want more, when i've had to wait 10 weeks for my first..

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Teresita - My willpower has stopped working!! I thought that I didn't have any restriction at all, but then today I've had my very first PB!! nothing to be proud of and it's horrible!! I ate stodgy white bread...very nice but not band friendly.. I'm going back to the gym monday as i've been made redundant and no longer have a job. My first fill is thursday, so am looking forward to restriction!! I think I was eating very badly because of all the stress I was under, but now most of it has been lifted I should do ok. Since my Pb earlier, I find I don't want to eat, so am going to be missing a meal hopefully that will help prevent me from gaining. I'l post my gain/loss on monday...hopefully it will be a loss. Well done everyone else!!

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Hi Guys, i haven't posted in a while i'm on a bit of a downer, i'm now 9 weeks post op and not getting my first fill until 28th September. It's the way things work in the UK. I lost any restriction I had about 4 weeks ago and have been using willpower only since then...and what happens with willpower? It eventually fails!! I got the band to be my willpower for me, to stop me eating when I can't do it....well, I was doing ok until I had to stop going to the gym for 2 weeks as I had Sciatica and my doc told me to rest up. I can start again now but am frightened as that is where I get weighed!! I think I may have gained...it could be all the chocolate and crisps I've been eating!! Anyway, enough moaning i try to start each day anew but its not working, at least I only have a week until my fill and then I'l get back on track. Well done to everyone, your doing so well and I hope to be loosing again soon..

Liquid vitamin or chewable?
Hi, I have difficulty taking tablets of any kind, so I take a chewable Multivitamin I find I will remember to take them, whereas liquid i would have to stop and take rather than on the run. I can't see why you can't take a liquid supplement, but I'm not a Dr, maybe call you dr and ask...

Big Hello from the UK
Hi Mastiffmum, I'm from the Uk as well, I got banded July 18th. I have PCOS and have found although my weight is still high, I have started to have periods which I have never had regularly and sometimes only 1 a year... I'm also bordeline diabetic type 2 and I hope this will prevent it from becoming full blown and from what I've heard on this site, I'm sure mine and your co morbidities will improve....good luck
