Don't know what it feels like to be "normal" sized & scared!
I can see it...I can totally see it now! I think I found my new addiction....music (well that's always been an addiction) and my treadmill! Been working out like crazy the past few days and I can actually see muscles! And last night I totally envisioned me on my treadmill joggin in some fitted workout gear..nice and curvy and toned! Maybe a far stretch, but dagnabit I saw me! I don't want to just be skinny, I want to be healthy and fit! I'm not scared anymore....I'm excited, elated...whew!!! Let's do it!!!!

He finally apologized...said that he thought since I was joking about not eating, he could joke about it too. I was like, no, that like me making fun of myself for being fat..that don't mean you can make fat jokes about me too! I have to admit, I've given in to eating during my liquid diet, mostly during the 1st week, not anything heavy, just a nibble of something in the evening. It's sooo hard coming home from work and the house smelling of dinner and the family chowing down! I only flipped out once over some buffalo chicken pizza...I ate a slice...at least it was thin crust...but I've been punishing myself with a hardcore workout or two everyday since. So, I'm still on track losing a pound or more a day! Surgery is Tuesday! I'm soooo excited! It's going to come quickly. Today I will be cleaning and getting packed and where heading to Chicago tomorrow to drop the boy at his granny's then over to Downer's Grove. I have to get my heparing shots from the hospital over there and then maybe we'll do a little shopping or something. Can't wait! Good luck all y'all being banded through the end of the month and congrats to those already banded! YaY!!!!

lol, I know what you mean! Last weekend I went to get my hair braided and knew I would be in the chair for at least 6 hours. I could have taken some shakes with me, but who wants to drink luke warm protien shakes...ugh! So, I drank one before I went in and stuffed a water bottle and a protien bar in my purse. That got me through the 6 hours..wasn't supposed to have the protien bar, and the luke warm water wasn't so refreshing, but that was better than falling to the Doritos everyone else was munching on at the shop!

Good for you! Hang in there! Let us know how you dealt with the 5 hour ride home, as I will have a 4 hour ride home the day after surgery. My doc told me to stop every hour and get out of the car and walk, but we'll be between Chicago and Indiana and it's friggin cold! LOL!

Lol, that's what you should have given him....a nice big cup of chicken broth! My hubby did apologize, he said he didn't mean it to be mean like that. He just thought since I was joking about food earlier, he thought it was ok to joke to. I was like, no, that's like me making fun about myself being fat, that don't mean you can make fun of me too! Men....lol!

I had my 1st appt with my surgeon on 9/18 and my surgery is scheduled for 12/22. I could have had it as early as 12/8, but I wanted to wait until my kids were out for Christmas break. I live 4 hours away from the hospital that my surgery will be at, so it that week worked out better as far as the kids. My surgeon had me do a practice diet and get all my testing done, and had me come back a month later. Since I did everything like he asked and did well with the practice diet, he scheduled my "pre-op" appointment a month later, where I had to bring my support person and get more details on what actually happens with the surgery and what to do. Then I just have to do a 2 week liquid high protien low carb diet...on day 6 now! Good Luck!

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Just keep trying...this IS worth it....YOU are worth it!!!! If it makes you feel better, I am sitting here smelling the bacon that my husband cooked for breakfast. This is after I came home last night to an empty house smelling like pizza, with half the pizza left on the stove!!!! Then my husband and my son come in from the movies with a big bag of buttery popcorn!!! Thank goodness for my Crystal Light popsicle, it's the ONLY thing I like about this pre-diet. So, we have to take what good we can find and make it work! WE are worth it!

Don't know what it feels like to be "normal" sized & scared!
Thank you soooo much! That means a lot. I am so glad I found this forum...it's nice to know that I am not alone in this and all the weird feelings I have! I have support from my family, but it just helps to "talk" to people who are or have gone through this as well.

Ketosis????
Yes, I'll be "wheeeee" one minute and feeling like death the next. But, "wheeee" I'm down 8 lbs since Tuesday!
-
Ketosis????
Ok, yeah cause the sorta sweet taste is coming from around my teeth and the other acid like taste is more like just there. Makes more sense. Thanks!

Don't know what it feels like to be "normal" sized & scared!
Thanks a lot for the feedback, everyone! I am so glad it's not just me. It's almost like when I had my first child, so excited, wanted it so badly, but scared. I guess in both instances it truely makes you a different person!

Ketosis????
OMG, you are too funny!!! Jungle prints & bedazzled jeans, lol, but it's so true!!! I don't know why they think big girls need to sparkle! I drink a shake during my drive in and my drive home, I'm ok going home, but not in the morning. Maybe I need to drink one when I first get up and one on the way!

Don't know what it feels like to be "normal" sized & scared!
I have no idea what it’s like to be “normal” size, and I’m getting kinda scared about it. I don’t know why, and it seems really dumb to me, but now that I’m so close to my surgery date and losing like crazy on this liquid pre-op diet, the possibility of being “normal” sized is becoming more real to me. I can already see a change in my face and my body, and it’s kind of freaking me out. I have never been anywhere close to ideal weight. Even in my preschool photos, I was very chubby. I remember even in elementary school having to shop in the plus section. I’m guessing my most “normal” weight was in 9th grade I was about 200lbs, but still, that was very overweight, I wore size 18/20. So, anyone else in my boat, never been at a healthy weight? Anyone else nervous? Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about being able to do things I haven’t been able to in a long time, like ride things at the amusement park, and things I’ve never been able to do like go on a plane without the extender, or buy clothes without having to go to Lane Bryant or Fashion Bug. Hell, for a while I couldn’t even shop at those places because I was too big, nearly 400lbs and had to shop at Catherines or buy clothes online! I should be down right excited, and I am, but, at the same time something about the whole thing has got me nervous.

Ketosis????
The first day of the liquid was the worse! I think I was seriously delirious. I could not get in enough calories that day, I think it was under 500. I would be hopping around then tired, my husband even told me I looked crazy, lol. I was supposed to drink 2 more Protein shakes when I got home from work, but I just couldn’t, so I had chicken and noodle Soup. That made me feel better. This ketosis stuff is weird. I have to pee all the time, thought I was going to die at work last night because the cleaning folks were in the bathroom forever. I think my smell is ok, just my tastebuds. I’ve been chomping the heck out of sugar free gum too. I usually do anyway, especially when I’m thinking really hard, lol. But, now it’s just to ease this weird taste I’ve got going on. Good thing is, because I’m so tired, I’ve been sleeping really well at night. I usually wake up several times during the night, but not the past few days, I have been knocked out. But, I work an hour away from home, so the drive is starting to get hard because I feel like everytime I blink, my eyes just want to stay shut, plus it’s dark when I leave, I just want to go to sleep. Not good driving 80mph down the highway. Funny you speak of the hunger pains, I haven’t had any pains really, but I was in a meeting yesterday and my stomach started growling like crazy! So, I drank some water thinking it would come down and it got louder, like a little monster in my belly getting ticked and fussing because I gave it was instead of food. The broth isn’t so bad, I actually like it because I load it up with pepper. And giving up caffeine wasn’t hard because I would only drink a little soda with dinner anyway…now that there is no dinner….lol! And I don’t do coffee, I never growed up for coffee, lol. My saving grace has been the sugar free popsicles…yum, lemonade is my favorite. Did your doc say you could have those? Are you getting emotional and stuff? I don’t know if it’s the drastic change in my diet or if I’m really spazzing out about the surgery….I’m nervous, then I start to 2nd guess if I’m doing the right thing, then when I think of finally going into Target and buying me a regular size shirt, or crossing my legs, I tear up. I’m a mess. I’m feeling loopy, should probably try to focus on some work, drink another shake…

Ketosis????
I'm finishing up day 3 of my 14 day pre-op liquid diet. I'm only allowed a max of 800 calories, max of 80g of carbs, and they want over 80g of Protein per day. Protien shakes, chicken broth, sugar free popsicles, Water and that's it...no "real food". So, like I said, I'm on day three and I'm now noticing this weird taste in my mouth...kinda sweet, but like day old gum and then kinda acid like at the same time. And my head is killing me, I feel like my energy has been sucked out of me, and I'm kinda jittery. I googled this and seems I'm in ketosis....some say that's good, some say that's bad. Anybody else having this issue?

I get the Swanson low sodium chicken broth and load it up with black pepper. Is that bad for me? It tastes pretty good.

December Bandsters 2009
I cheated AGAIN tonight...ate a few of my son's chicken nuggets..UGH!!! Then he told his dad he didn't like them, my husband looked at his plate and said "well you had to eat ALL of those to figure out you didn't like them?" ....thank goodness my boy is only 5 and just shook his head "yeah"...otherwise I would have been caught! LOL! I feel like a crack head! Better luck tomorrow!

December Bandsters 2009
I tried to "pig out" before my liquid diet, but I found that I couldn't. Maybe because I've been cutting back on what I eat since September, but I couldn't hardly eat. And the stuff I thought I would enjoy the most, I didn't. Except that chocolate chip cookie, now that was GOOD! lol, but I only had one and I was satisfied, normally I would have had two or three. For me, it showed me that I was ready to do this. But, now that I am on my 2nd day of the liquid diet, I'm feeling really weird. Jittery, agitated, and very tired. Anyone else having that problem? I'm not hungry, I just feel like my energy has been zapped. I only took in a little over 600 calories yesterday, I could have up to 800, but I just could not drink another protien shake. I like them, but that was just too much! I had 4 shakes, a cup of chicken broth, 2 sugar free popsicles, and then a had a cup of chicken noodle soup, even though I wasn't supposed to have the soup, but I needed something, just couldn't suck down another shake. Today is a new day....good luck everyone!
