    Cough after eating

I sneeze once and after 3 years, hubby still looks over and says "And you're done". Lol

    Are Hiccups Normal?

For me, hiccups come when I drink something cold too fast. They are not fun.

    Gym=No Weight Loss

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. However, the biggest culprit is water. By working out, you are tearing down muscle and rebuilding it. During this process, muscles will retain water. Give it some time - probably 4-5 weeks. Your body will adjust and then you'll be surprised at how it will begin to come off, even if you have to take a week or two off from exercising.

    Weight Watchers And Lapband

I think WW is great, as it's not really a diet and more of a way of eating for life. They stress moderation and you don't cut foods out entirely, which I think can be dangerous. With that said, it really sounds like you need a fill. Maybe you aren't losing weight because your body has gone into starvation mode and won't let go of the weight. What is the advice of your lapband Dr.? I think I'd go with his recommendation, since you paid (I'm assuming) to have the lapband surgery.

Why Do I Sneeze When I Am Too Full?

I sneeze too, but only once. I generally sneeze in two's, so if we are eating and I sneeze once, my hubby looks over and says "Oops! Guess you are done" LOL If I drink something cold too quickly or too big of a gulp I will get hiccups. Isn't it wonderful!! :-)

    I Want To Eat Cereal!!!

Oh how I miss cereal. Pre-band, there were nights that hubby and I would have cereal for dinner. lol I have tried a few times since being banded in 2009 and each time was disappointed to find that it just doesn't work for me, no matter how slow I eat, how many times I chew or how soggy the cereal is. Great Grains w/ pecans is my favorite!

    Straws??

I use a straw because I tend to gulp and/or stack without it. I say if it's working for you, then keep on!!

    Regrets

I have not been the model bandster and haven't lost what I think I "should" have because of it. But even with that said, I still would do it over again. I recently have re-introduced myself to my band and am now giving it the respect it deserves, which for me meant starting over. Measuring out my food, counting my chews, eating more protein, cutting out liquid calories, keeping a food diary (via an iphone app) and finally exercising. It's amazing - I haven't PB'd in over a week and I can sleep all night without getting up to throw up. (I was pb'ng/throwing up every day at least once) The lap-band is a tool and like a tool, just buying it and putting in the shed, won't make it work. Being here, around other bandsters has been a blessing for me. It keeps me in check.

    Dressed To The 0's?

My surgery was done at an oupatient center, but I wore regular clothes in - they gave me a gown to put on when i got there, and I left in my own gown and robe for the car ride home. Oh so pretty!

    Was It Me???

I was freaked out - I thought my work had banned this site (which didn't make sense) and was trying to open the page on every device I own, just to make sure. lol
  11. I stocked up on Gatorade and Vitamin Water in addition to some of the already mentioned items. For a little more substance, I drank the V-8 fusion juice. Good luck and welcome to banderland!
  12. Congratulations and welcome to bandland!
  13. It was about a month for me. My surgeon had told me to wait about a month before I started working out. I figured out why!

    Sugar Free Candy

I would check with your surgeon. I was still on liquids at 3 weeks. Be careful with sugar free candy, take a look at the calories.
  15. Awesome! Good for you! It's amazing how much better you will feel not drinking them. My band doesn't like them so much. Me? I miss my Diet Coke like crazy!!

    What's Your Food Of Sin?

Mine would have to be ice cream. And I mean, full on fat, creamy Ben & Jerry's or Starbucks.

Having My Band Removed On Sunday

I'm so sorry to hear about what you've had to endure with your band.

    Question For You Bandsters!!

I was self pay, but I went to the seminar on 7/7/09 and my surgery was on 7/21/09.

Having My Band Removed On Sunday

I'm not here to beat you up or question your decision, curiosity has gotten the best of me. What type of problems have you had since day one? Is the surgeon who installed it doing the removal? I'm sure there is life after the lapband for people.
  21. Please God, don't let my husband see this thread!
  22. I think that I, like hopefloats, have a sugar addiction. My band doesn't have a problem with sweets. I can put a pint of ice cream down in one sitting with no problem, but try to eat a 1/2 cup of broccoli and I'm in the bathroom PB'ing within 5 minutes. However, I try to limit my sweets because they are a trigger for me. 30 years of yo-yo dieting have taught me that neglecting my body of things doesn't work for me, so if I'm eating ice cream, then I had better be exercising (not at the same time!). THAT'S the trade off for me.
  23. I am right there with you! I feel the need to confess my sins. I was banded on 7/21/09, as well. I quickly lost about 60 lbs and then in November 2010, was too tight for too long, which resulted in my passing out at work from dehydration. I got a 1 cc unfill that day and proceeded to gain 10 lbs over the holidays. It's been a year and I'm still carrying those 10 lbs. Here's how my mind works. I started out at a size 24 and am now a size 14. Over the past year, I have maintained the weight, which was a new concept for me. I have been making horrible food choices in the way of liquid calories, I have stopped getting in my Protein and I stopped exercising. Why? Because old habits die hard and I'm a size 14! 3 years ago, I would have killed to be a size 14. lol Well, my 14's are now tight and last week I had a really bad PB spell from eating a hot dog. I felt like I had hit rock bottom - I remember standing over the toilet trying to get that damn hot dog out (sorry for the image) and was thinking "WHAT AM I DOING?" This weekend, I went back to basics. I started out with 24 hours of liquids/mushies to give my stomach and band a break. I got out and exercised and I am eating my protein, chewing a million times and taking small bites. The results are amazing! I have already dropped 3lbs, my size 14's that I bought 2 weeks ago are loose and I feel so much better about myself and my band. Let's do this!!

    Help

I agree with what's already been said. 10 pounds is great! Congrats!! If it makes you feel any better - my gas pain didn't start until about 10 days post surgery. I couldn't believe it! Arm windmills and walking (pacing in my case) helped me.
