  2. I came on here after getting scheduled for revision surgery from my lapband to RNY. I agree! Kimaly, I am glad your surgery went well but let me tell you. Mine has been a total nightmare also. You have no right to act all high and mighty. My realize band is FULL. See that FULL. I have 100% no feeling of fullness, restriction nothing. The band has not slipped, the band has not moved, the surgery was perfect. My esophagus is perfect, everything is PERFECT. Yet I have no weight loss whatsoever, none. In fact even with the liquid diet, I lost 10 pounds. That came right back when I went to soft foods. My surgeon said in some people the band just does not work, same as with anything. I happened to be one of those lucky people. I feel horrible for the person posting this, it is an awful thing to have happen and you feel like a total failure. Its embarassing because you get it and people know and yet there you are still as big, if not bigger than you were before WLS. It does a lot to you mentally because you do blame yourself and it hurts. You put all this time, money and hope into this surgery thinking that you are going to lose the weight and get your life back. Then you get it and not only is that not the case, you have this thing in your body that is a hassle. I really recommend going to the psych and talking about it with a neutral party. You need to weigh your options, talk to your surgeon, your PCP and a nutritionist. RNY and other surgeries are a complete different ballgame. I really feel for you and your situation. Don't let other people get to you. If it makes you feel better, all of the surgeons looked at my tests and scratched their heads. Also you may want to check out the 7 stages of grief, it really doesnt just deal with death. Your emotions are normal and if you feel out of control in that respect there are people that care that will help you.
  3. My exit paperwork says milk of Mag...also
  4. My surgery is on August 14th! I cant wait =D
  5. *grumble* I have the 5 shakes and water diet too. Im telling you I am so hungry that I want to scream. Thank God that August 14th is not that far away. Congrats and good luck to everyone!!
  6. You know, it sounds like you're looking for an excuse to me. I'm only saying that because I did the same thing. Oh I cant stand doing xyz so I cant do this. Well, Im in week 2 of pre opt liquid fun and I refuse to live the rest of my life on fluids...I WANT REAL FOOD..you never know what hunger is until you want to beat your coworker up for an avocado...(dont ask) I dont think liquids forever is a reality. So, look at your options and when you cant stand it anymore, you will have your answer on if you can do this or something else. Thats what it took for me anyways =D Best of luck.
  7. Congrats everyone! My date is August 14th...
  8. I feel all of your pain =/ I just told my co-worker that if it was between him and an avocado, the avocado was going to win...whats worse, I dont even like avocados! LoL sigh
  9. I totally feel you! Good luck tomorrow =D
  10. Ive gotten the pasta out of the bowl with light cheese.....its just nasty fast food. My stomach hated me for days and Im not even banded yet.
  11. My surgery date is August 14th at 0845 hrs! My pre surgery class is on the 17th of this month and the pre surgery lab work and ekg is the 10th of august! Is it me or does it seem like this journey took forever?
  12. I was turned down at 210 pounds (im 5ft 4) and within a years time gained 40 pounds due to a whole list of reasons to include PCOS and diabetes ect. I cant help but think that it would have been a better option 40 pounds ago for both my health and for the amount of money the insurance has had to shell out for all of my stuff. I think if you have weight issues in your family and such, preventative medicine is the way to go. Besides who am I to judge? We get judged enough for getting this surgery by others. We need to support one another.
  13. No I wouldnt, If it got to that point, Id go to St Marys (they have staff that know how to deal with the band) and have them just unfill it and f/u with my surgeons office in the morning. If Im uncomfortable to the point im vomitting blood, Im going to the Er.
  14. I am a 911 Dispatcher =D and a mother to an awesome 9 yo =D
  15. Your mom is basically holding you hostage emotionally. It isnt fair to you and it isnt healthy. Part of the reason a lot of us are obese and/or addicted to food is because of emotional eating ect. You need to list your pros and cons and think very long and hard about what you can say to your mom and do to remedy this situation. Boundaries are a big thing and you need to have them, even with your mother. Just because she is your mother, doesnt mean she gets to treat you however she feels at the moment. So my advise is to look at what needs to change, what you'd like to have change and what boundaries you are going to have in regards to your mother. I know this is an icky situation and one my mother actually went through with her mother. Unfortunately I never met my grandmother, but from the sounds of it...I didnt miss much. Also, seeing the psych or a counselor is not a bad idea to at least talk to about this. We have a lot of reasons we are overweight and for me at least part of it is the emotional stuffing by using food. While they are our family and sometimes we feel we have to love them out of obligation, we have to take care of ourselves first. Your mom is old enough to know better, old enough to know how to treat people and old enough to take care of herself. The pool can wait, she needs to pay her car payment ect. I dont know about you, but if I tried that one, they'd repo my car. So I'd have a pool, but no way to go to work to pay for it. Its just food for thought really, no one wants to "break" up with their mom or dad. But sometimes, we do need to distance ourselves.
