I think you should inform the company that employs the Dr. Think about him doing it to someone with fragile mental health causing them to spiral or worse. I agree that this person is a bully. People do that stuff because they continue to get away with it. I would've released the Crackin on him for sure.I would've asked/demanded to speak to to the office manager immediately. I would have TOTALLY shamed him. There have been occasions when people have erroneously mistaken my politeness for weakness, but never twice. I'm sure you'll do what's best for you, but I hate to think of him victimizing people one after another. He needs a reprimand. I'm really sorry your Dr. is so highly unprofessional & mean-spirited. This would have eroded my confidence in him. He sounds like a sadist.

I'd like to be very clear about some things that have been posted here.
Yes, every one of us has "caused" our overweight. By that I mean at times in our lives we have eaten the wrong foods and too much of them and not exercised nearly enough.
On the other hand, many of us were also dealt a really crappy hand of genetics, hormonal imbalances, biochemistry, upbringing, and life experiences that contributed to our obesity.
And for some of us "fixing" our obesity is the only thing we have not accomplished in lives otherwise full of accomplishments and pride.
But there's a very bright line between the tough love that a long-time family doctor may dish out to a patient they know well and the crude and brutal treatment described in some of the posts above.
A doctor who does not treat the person in front of them with a desire to help needs to reconsider seriously their vocation.

You need to find another doctor...don't let no one to put you down. Similar situations happens to me, not only one but twice.
The first time I went to this doctor to do a physical, I did blood work before I saw him, so he had the results in his hands went he burst out "why do you eat so much if you are diabetic? I didn't know I was pre diabetic, he made me feel like an idiot, an stupid person that is eating her life out. Of course He never saw me again. He was rude, nasty and aggressive.
The second time I went to see this doctor for the first time, and before saying hello the only thing that came out of his mouth was "oh my God why are you doing this to yourself?" It took me a couple of seconds to realized he was talking about my weight, he immediately without touching me send me to loose weight and get on a diet. He never saw my beautiful face again.
There are already negative feelings between you and your doctor, get another one and have your medical history transfer to the new one. Don't wait.

In this country we put doctors on a pedestal. Very few of them deserve it and some, as we know, are total jerks. Hugs to you. Find a new doctor who treats you with respect.

I've got to get serious about this. I've had to back off of crunches and leg lifts because of my back. I can plank. I've just been making excuses for not doing it daily...that stops this weekend.

I'm pretty excited about planking. The Mrs. Winnie-the-Pooh belly is much smaller now, but I really need to tone my core for every reason. Unlike a lot of exercises, this one is easy to do in a very short amount of time. Also I have wrist and hand problems and since this is on the forearms there is no impact at all. There are challenges that suggest twenty seconds to start on first and second days, then moving up to thirty, etc.
These images helped me a lot:

Well, preop I was a 44DD and at 4 1/2 months out I had to shop for new bras - 38C. Not sure what my weight loss was at that point....probably around 60 - 65 pounds. Unfortunately I jumped the gun, because now at 7 months out I'm 90 pounds down and those bras are too big. Now I'm a 34B. Haven't had this small of boobs since middle school! And they certainly were never this saggy.

Your doctor is a bully my love. Having MD behind his name cannot change his character. He is a mean bully and I'm sorry you had to deal with his epic unprofessional behavior. No none wants to say it, but he was fat shaming you. We have all been there at one time or another. But to have a doctor do it..........unacceptable. Continue to take care of you.

Well if he gets you where you need to be go for it...But at the end he is going to treat others the same way he treated you. Imagine if that was your mom or your daughter. You would lose it...In the end when you are where you want to be..I think you need to talk to him and let him know your rights as a fellow human being and let him know what he did and the way you felt....
I just recently did that to a Dr. that did not give a rats behind about me because of my weight in the past. I had to see him again and he was so nice it made me want to puke. He remembered me just a little but did not remember treating me with such rudeness. Selective memories....Don't leave it as long as I did. As when I talked to him the entire conversation was way over his head....

You'll find them every where! The real trick is to not let them get away with it! It is up to you to walk out and or bitch slap them in the head....No but you can picture it and laugh in front of her/him! And then turn serious and walk the hell out..Then make the calls and call him/her a rat bastard!
    Did I say that!?

I am so so sorry you had such an awful experience. That was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. Besides the resources mentioned above, I would also contact the organization that employs the doctor. I think some sensitivity training is definitely necessary. You are a strong person and I admire your ability to handle the situation so well.

Omg I hope you walked out how inappropriate how damaging. One hell of a bedside manner.
If I were upset as you sound is be on the AMA website and filing appropriate complaint and finding a new doc who can relate to my knee condition with the compassion required of a physician.
    What an ahole

BMI is not the most accurate measure of healthy body weight anyway. People with a lot of muscle mass (weightlifters, etc.) will rate high on the BMI scale because it only takes in height and weight. Nothing about the content of your body.
I agree body fat percentage is a better gauge. But, I also agree with RJ -- it's so much more than the number on the scale. You have accomplished a lot and should revel in that. If it is worth it to you to put in more effort to try to lose some more pounds, do that, but don't beat yourself up if it doesn't happen or if you decide to just accept the weight you are now. You're not a failure either way.

Everyone has to come to the realization that we are who we are at some point. If you cannot find happiness within yourself at this point you will never be happy... If you can't Celebrate where your body is now..Healthier and in great shape and you feel great...what was the point of all the work you have done to get where you are today...
It is the common thinking that it is never enough until we look more like models that have no shape at all. No breasts, and bones sticking out everywhere. Is that what you want for yourself. To no longer look like a woman.
To say ' is this the best it is gonna get' implies that you are not happy with you, and who you have become. 75 lbs gone and muscled now.....
Take 75 lbs of butter and place them on the table next to you and look at what you have done. Where you are.Take a look at the before and after pictures and Celebrate the wonderful success of your journey..
Your body may decide to lose more but live as much as you can where you are now and let your body do the deciding.
Just stay on the program and do not Detour and you will reach the right place for you...Whether it is this year or next year...This is not a race, it is a journey!

Ima Fox reacted to Teachamy in Veterans, what do you miss most from your Pre-Op life?
I miss eating a bag of Cheetos. Not gonna lie! But honestly, once I had surgery, I started noticing other heavy people around me, especially at restaurants. I got the salad, they got burgers and fries. I ate !/2 c., they cleaned their plates. Truly, it was eye-opening. I started to get it. food is about 85% of the issue--at least for me.

After 4 months I could eat whatever I want. And I pretty much do. Sometimes I wish I could eat more of something really yummy, but in general I don't really miss the larger portions. It's actually fascinating to see just how much other people eat, knowing it's not really necessary. I thought I would miss beer and getting drunk at parties, but I don't. Not ever having a hangover has been a great alternative.
I can't really think of anything I really miss that hasn't been replaced with something better.

I started losing my hair as soon as I hit 3 months. It came out in huge clumps when I washed it and flew off my head when I brushed my hair. I had already read all the sites on here so I pretty much knew it was going to happen and that I had to deal with it. I went out and bought a blonde wig about the same color as my hair so I had something to fall back on. I increased my fish and red meat consumption and increased my olive oil on salads. I take the Biotin as a precaution so I don't know if it really works or not. I haven't noticed any extra Hair growth on my legs or other areas so maybe it doesn't help at all, who knows. Hair loss continues a bit but has slowed down a lot. I am contributing it to the increased meat and the fact that I have quit stressing about it. I read the book the Alchemist and decided to live in the moment because pretty soon the hair loss will just be a memory. The stress does more damage than anything else. What will be will be so move on and address the things you do have control over. Little hair or no hair....we're all thinner and healthier. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I'm 3 weeks out and had some thinning in the front to begin with. After the surgery I noticed some more coming out. My RD pre surgery warned me of hair loss in the 3rd to 6th month if I did not faithfully consume 60 to 80 grams of Protein per day. Its about nutrition! I have been eating a serving of Jello daily ( I mix one box sugar free and one box unflavored ). Just started taking Biotin, collagen and using Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner system . Hoping I wont have to deal with it too much
