  1. I was banded on 7/7 and i stayed in bed for first 5 days. I had a hernia repair also. I didnt realize that I would be in that much pain and sore. I could not sit up for no more than a few minutes. I actually felt better lying down. I would get up a couple of times to try to sip some gatorade but I felt like crap. On the 5th day, I began to feel like myself but still sore and walking very slowly. I am 2 weeks out and just in the last few days have began to feel "normal." Hang in there, it does get better.
  2. Did you all have any guidelines for your post-op diet? How many calories you should try to stick to? I am on clear liquids for 4 more days. I am wondering am I getting enough calories. I only had about 300 yesterday. Should i try to aim for more? What have you all been doing?

  4. Hey Bobbi...good to hear from you and thanks to you all for the mental support. OMG...it has gotton better. I went to GNC and got a drink simular to the isopure but its the GNC kind. It looks like gatorade but has 60 grams of Protein per bottle. It has really helped the hunger pains!!! So I will use this drink until next monday. I can do it! Thanks to you all!!
  5. Hey Friends....I am really stressed at the moment. I went to get my staples out yesterday and to my suprise the nurse told me that I was to be on another FREAKN week of clear liquids. I thought I was going to pass out. I was thinking that I could begin full liquids today where I could at least drink my slimfast to get some good protein(not a whole lot of sodium). My stomach is now beginning to growl...I did not expect this. Not this early. I am going to order some isopure but any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to you all!!:sad:
  6. I was denied the first time for the MGB-mini gastric bypass. Cigna says that it is still in its experimental phase. The second time was (for the lapband) because i had not done my nutritrional evaluation. i guess 3 is the charm...at least for me.
  7. well..i know with Cigna. They will count the previous months if you went in to see your Dr each mth and the Dr documented(in detail) about your weight/lifestyle changes. I did not have to lose weight during my 6mths but I had to make sure I went and checked in with the DR each and every month. Cigna is getting so bad that if you miss a month you have to start all over. My surgeon didnt require me to lose weight during that time. I just have to do this pre-op diet(to shrink my liver) for 2 weeks. I am into my second week and surgery is 7/7. I was denied twice before I got my approval, so just be prepare to fight for what you know is right for you.
  8. Trying to figure out how this ticker thing works <a href="http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wSae2Ja/"> <img border="0" src="http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/wSae2Ja/weight.png"></a>
  9. Ok Guys...update ...this is day 6 for me. I am drinking my low carb vanilla Cream Slim-fast shake. chocolate is my favorite but I had to mix it up for my tastebuds. The scale said that I was down 8 lbs. I am happy with that. I think in the next couple of days...it may be a little more. I find it very hard to get all my Water in when I am not working. So being back at work...I am going to pump up my water consumption. I will say that this has become easier each day but Friday....I drove by like 50 McDonalds. OMG i was like a drug addict looking for a fix. I never stopped but I was VERY TEMPED. It will be these mental battles that will be the hardest for me. But I survived!! Congrats to Bobbie045 and Mainhappymom...we are all LOSERS!! "talk" to you all soon!
  10. OH MAN...i think that would completely suk. But now that I think about it my slimfast is just about $100 for both weeks. But we have to look at it as an investment. An investment into our health. I am on Day 3 of pre-op diet and I must day that things are going A WHOLE LOT better than I anticipated. I was really dreading this pre-op diet. I got on the scale and it was down 6 lbs....I was totally amazed!! My goal was to lose 10 lbs before surgery. I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!!! Pray for me! Cee Cee
  11. Bobbie....what can you have on your pre-op? no salad at all?
  12. hey all...its the second day and I must say its better than i thought it was going to be. Its my lunch time at work. I did a workout class called Zumba. It is dancing to latin music. It was fun...really didnt seem like excerise. So now I am "drinking" my lunch. I am VERY suprised that I have not had the "hunger" feeling in my stomach. It is so weird to me. I have been able to continue my day...keeping busy and drinking a good amount of water(which keeps me walking to the bathroom). I have a banana for mid-afternoon snack and sugarfree gum in case of an emergency. Thanks to you all. I feel like I have some people with me on this journey that completely understand what I am feeling and going thru!! I actually feel like I CAN do this. Talk to ya later. BTW...my nickname is Cee Cee.
  13. I am 1/2 way thru my workday and this is my first day of the pre-op diet(to shrink my liver). I seem to be holding up pretty good. I have decided to write down everything I eat to hold myself accountable. I had a slimfast lowcarb high protein(20g) shake for breakfast. I didnt have any hunger feeling all morning. Had my morning snack of yogurt(70 cals/0 fat). Our workplace has a gym so I am fortunate to be able to workout. I decided to do 30 min on the eliptical since I can't really eat. I am sitting at my desk now having my same kind of shake for lunch. So far so good. Pray for me. Thanks to you all!!:smile2:
  14. I am July 7th also....they moved me up last week. I was orginially set for July 14th. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow...6/23. they want two weeks of the liver shrinking diet...so needless to say...i had my last two hotdogs today at lunch. i think i am just ready to get it on!! I am ready for change! I am excited but very nervous about the whole surgery---being put to sleep and pain afterwards. I am praying that God will keep me cause I have worked on this process for a loooonnnnngggg time. Now the time has come and I know he wont leave me now. Best to all of you!!
  15. Well....let's see. I have Cigna insurance. First Dr's(primary care physican) appt- Oct-08 thru June-09(insurance required 6 mths of Dr. supervised diet) Phsych evaluation - April-09 Nutrional evaluation - June-09 Surgeon seminars/clinics - 2009 - I attended 2 so far. Final clinic and pre-op admission - July 6,2009 Surgery date - July 7, 2009 So in all approx. 9 mths....most of that is due to insurance requirements. But in the long run...it is well worth it because I only had to come out of pocket with $2000. Everything else is taken care of by Cigna at 100%.
  16. Hi all....my surgery date is 7/14th. I am really excited and scared but I guess that is being human.
