  1. Rissa,,, Please do not let your Mom control you this way, you can support her and not live with her. (trying not to sound coarse or uncaring here) If she was so sick as to NEED you there, I'm pretty sure she would not be working 12 hour days. I am far from being a profesional ANYBODY,but... 1) Right now YOU do not need the extra stress (that it sounds like) she is adding to your life. 2) If your not healthy, you can not help your Mom, anyways. I know family is tough, and mine try to lay guilt trips to get whatever they want, and that extra stress far from helps anything. Try doing for you, and see just how good it feels.Honestly, it's not allways the selfish thing to do.

  5. This is all quite interesting,, about 4-6 weeks for lifting,,,,I wear a utility type belt with close to 50 lbs on it,,,,it looks like I may need to go light duty for a while, thanks for all your help,,and very quickly, I'll take all the info I can get!
  6. How long was it before any of you could start back at work? What about lifting, certain things at your job? Light duty? I'm not yet banded, and no date yet, but am going to the seminar in Springfield,(Ma) on this thurs. Aug. 3rd, and will start the process then. I will be banded, one way or the other. Just a matter of time. Best of luck to all of you, no matter where you are in your journey.
  7. That is where I think I'll be going,, I called Dr Haag's office and have a appointment at the seminar on August 3rd. in Sprgfld. then go from there, it should be easy going, I have a BMI of over 50, sleep aponea (SP?) and hypertennsion. Good luck to everyone no matter what stage your in !!!!

  11. Hi all, I've only been here a little bit, and not been banded as of yet, I have my first seminar to attend on Aug. 3rd. then we get everything rolling. I'm pretty nervous, and excited all at the same time. My BMI is 51.5, 380 LBS, and 38 yrs. Good luck to everyone, I'm here because you are all so supportive of each other, and I'm gonna need some of that in the future.
  12. The name of the Dr. (that I saw on here) is Dr. Haag (SP?) though I still have not gone to the 1st seminar,, that is going to be Aug 3rd. So I'm still a ways out.

Well I figured it was time to do something drastic,,, I have finnaly peaked out @ 380 lbs,,, my BMI is about 52 give or take, and I'm 37 yrs old,, I work 2 high stress jobs, and have a 3 and 4 yr old,,,, along with a 16 yr old (previous relationship) and my wife of 6 yrs has a 22 yr old daughter and a 18 yr old son,,,,,,,more stress,,,,every thing leads to more and more stress,,LOL,, but I handle it one way or another,, my wife figures if the lap band works well for me,, she's gonna go for it to:) I guess she wants me to guinna pig for her,,,LOL:rolleyes:
  15. I've been sneeking in here about a week or so, peeking at info. and tips, and you all seem like wonderful people. I've all so picked up the name of a good Dr. here and have set up an apointment for thee initial seminar, in August, I've allready set my mind to this, one way or the other I'm going ALL the way. I have the support of my family, and my Dr., my insurance should not be to much of a problem. I just wanted to stop and say hi,,,,and I'll be around hopefully getting to know every one, and thanks for all the info I've allready gotten.
  16. Hi all,,, I've been looking into this, as my personal Dr. thought it was a good idea, I go to the seminar on Aug. 3rd,,,,kinda excited and nervous about the whole thing. But @ 380 lbs,,,,, it's time I do some thing.
