I am a little discouraged. I thought this would be an easier journey. I was banded on 4/29/09 and have only lost 18 pounds. I can eat just fine and really don't feel much restriction. I did not do a pre-op diet - the Dr. never told me to do the liquids before. I just had to do liquids the day before the operation. I have had 2 fills. Is there an average number of fills before restriction is felt and weight loss occurs faster. I keep reading that people lose so much so quickly and that is just not happening for me.

Has anyone experienced severe back pain a few days after a fill? I had my second fill on Friday and all seemed well. I didn't notice any difference at all. Then, last night I woke up in the night and thought I had the flu. My back and stomach hurt so bad. I took tylenol and went to sleep about 4 hours later. I was O.K. through the day and went to sleep at 10:00. Well, I woke up at 11:00 and my back and stomach are hurting so bad. Here it is 12:45 and I am in pain and can not sleep. Not sure if it has to do with the band or fill or if I just have a case of the flu. Has anyone had this experience? I wonder because I had really bad pains in my left shoulder for a long time after surgery. I thought it was just me and then I looked it up and found I was not alone and it was a common side effect of the surgery. Thank goodness that has gone away, but I have new aches and pains. I hope in the end I will find this has all been worth it. I was banded April 29 and have only lost 16 pounds.

  5. Wow! You're doing great. Keep up the good work!
  6. I had my surgery on 4/29.09. I went back to work 6 days later, and started eating everything then. I eat tiny amounts and chew well. I put my lunch in 1 cup containers and that's all I get. I've never thrown up. But if I eat fast, it hurts a little. I've not had a fill yet.

I have been banded for about 1 month. It has been very easy and I have felt great. I eat less, but it takes much restraint because I haven't had any fills. At 1 week, I started eating anything I wanted, but just chewing very carefully and eating just small amounts. I love beer, but haven't done that since it is a big no!! Well, last night we went out to dinner and I had 2 margaritas since I can't have beer. I really don't like hard liquor and I hate wine. Those 2 drinks were way too much for me and I have a headache today. Is there anyone out there who has found an alcoholic beverage to replace beer? I also love mimosas, but those are a no also. I drink only when we go out, but would like a drink that won't hit so hard.

  9. I have been banded for 3 weeks now and I too had some pain and could feel the port. But when I went to doc he said all was fine and I can still feel it but it doesn't hurt. I did not have constant pain though. I would just move the wrong way and it would hurt badly for just a few moments. Good luck.
  10. I think using those exfoliating gloves works wonders!!! In my family, the girls all have a set of gloves and we use them every day. My daughter, who is not overweight, had little bumps and she does not anymore.
  11. Good luck! I was banded three weeks ago. It really wasn't that bad. I teach First Grade and I was back to work in 6 days. The two days before that, I was cleaning my house! The worse part was I was soooooo hungry and by the third day I did not want another liquid!!! My headache from hunger was worse than the surgery and it went away in 1 day. Make sure to have clear liquid protein. I drank Isopure. Good luck.
  12. I found that I like Isopure liquid protein. It tastes similar to koolaid and is refreshing. It has 40 grams of protein, 0 carbs, 160 calories, no sugar, and is only 160 calories. You can drink it the first day after surgery. The best place to get it is GNC or online.

Hi! I am just beginning this journey and have enjoyed reading all of the blogs that all of you have posted. I thought that I would have the surgery and two weeks later I would be 25 pounds thinner and never feel hungry and be on my way. I was so discouraged until reading from all of you. I thought "Another expensive diet that won't work for me because I am unhelpable!" It's been 3 weeks and I've lost 10 pounds.
