not much weight loss

I am a little discouraged. I thought this would be an easier journey. I was banded on 4/29/09 and have only lost 18 pounds. I can eat just fine and really don't feel much restriction. I did not do a pre-op diet - the Dr. never told me to do the liquids before. I just had to do liquids the day before the operation. I have had 2 fills. Is there an average number of fills before restriction is felt and weight loss occurs faster. I keep reading that people lose so much so quickly and that is just not happening for me.

Sounds like you need more fills. There have been polls here about #fills and amounts until the sweet spot (you can do a search under the fill section). I've had 3 fills and have restriction now, but I'm sure now that I'll need at least one more (5.6 in 10cc LB). Some need nothing in their band and some need it completely filled. If you're eating more at meals than you should or you're hungry between meals you need to keep getting fills. You'll get there...I know it's discouraging now, but remember it's not a race as long as you end up on the finish line. -BG

i was very discouraged cuz i was in pretty much the same boat but i had TOO MANY fills so i had passed that elusive sweet spot! go get another fill & see what happens. i told my dr how i read about some people who lose 100lbs in 6 months & i wondered why it wasnt happening for me! i look at pics of people who were banded last year is i was and some have done miraculously-i was envious as well as happy for them! i was eating very littlle & holding on to every lb:eek:. i only lost 52lbs in a year which is a lb a week but i felt like i colud have done that on WW:frown:. do not be discouraged, join the Lap Band Strugglers group & try to track your intake with a diary until you get the next fill. you may be surprised how much tou are still consuming:ohmy:. hope you find your spot!!

Hello,

I too lost 1lbs a week but guess what it has been two years now and yes over 110lbs down! So in the big picture its only time you WILL get there if you find the right fill point! My doctor told me 3 years is the magic number so it took me 15 years to get that big 3 years is fair to take it off.

Hang in there you too will get there.
