  1. Eileen,

    You're more then welcome and anytime.

  2. I didn't know that. I've been burping since I was banded so I didn't know any difference.

    I'm going to see my doctor this month. I'll put that down on my list of questions to ask.

    Thanks

    Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

    I here you, logging helps me too. I was teetering between weights too and I'm glad to be coming out of it. Since I've been logging everything, I thought I was the only one that was pigging out. I look at others and feel that I'm eating way to much. But I'm losing so I'm sticking with it! It's good that you went outside the box and found out what works for you! Good job. I've copied this and put it into my diet file. This sounds so good! Thanks for sharing. Here is my food dairy for today: B/ Instant oatmeal w/half cup 2% milk L/Corn tortilla, grnd turkey 2oz, chdr chz 1oz, 1 Taco Bell taco sauce, Blk beans s/Microwave popcorn ½ c D/Crockpot pot roast 3oz, 1 mini plan bagel w/”I can’t believe it’s not butter” spray, ! ear of corn, Ice pop. Calories:1,118 8 cups of flavored water I'm happy to say that I've dropped below the 190 mark!! At 188:tt2:

    feeling a pinch

    Where is your port? Could it be that? If not, call the doctors office and ask them. I had these kinds of pains on my left side where my port is when I was first banded (3 yrs ago).

    Tomorrow is the big day!

    Rebecca, Good luck! You'll do fine too. Don't rush things when you get home. Stay w/the eating plan that the doc gives you. Stay on liquids (sip, sip, sip) until you feel it's time to move on to solids/muchies (take your time & chew, chew, chew)and start a food/liquid dairy if you haven't already. If someone offers to help you---take it, you'll need it. Try not to lift things for the first month or so, that includs laundry. Keep us posted!

    Struggling, Confused, need Help

    I use a site called myfitnesspal.com There you can figure out from your current weight and hight what the suggested calorie intake should be. Give it a try. I also us it for my food diary. As for your fill. Eat before you go and maybe bring yogurt for later if you are not going home right away. My doc requests that we drink some water and site for a bit before we go home. You may do muchies for a few days after the fill. Right now you should also make out a list of questions for the doctor to answer. Ask him about the protein intake? Don't be nervous, it will be okay. When they do my fills, they have a problem find the port. It hurts a little bit (like a pinch) but that's all. Keep us posted on your results. Also if you want, go to the chat line, there is usually someone there that can answer your questions too. Good luck!

    Really Need Advice

    Eileen, I have 8.5cc in my 10cc band. Before my last fill I could eat just about anything but w/this last fill from July I am tighter in the AM but if I drink first (sip, sip, sip) it usually goes down better. But I am now taking at least 30 minutes to eat in the morning. I usally start, walk away and do something for 5 min. and then come back. I'll do this off and on until I finish or feel full. I burp all the time, more then my kids do :smile2: I feel liquids go down first thing in the AM more then any other time during the day. I feel the food go down if I've been stuck. When this happens I usuall get up and go for a short walk. That brings up a burp and puts a smile on my face. Maybe you should go back to muchie foods. But either way eat the proteins first and then if there's room go for the other stuff. Maybe try ice pops or jello to get liquids into you. As for fruit, maybe a smootie? Some times for breakfast I'll try yogurt w/cherrios (I like the honey nut) or oatmeal. But then there's times I can eat an egg, 1-2 turkey bacon and o'brien potatos 1/4c or less. Can't respond on the period thing. Haven't had one in over 7 years. If you haven't, keep a food/liquid journal. When you eat, make notes about what's going on...stuck, can't finish... Also keep notes for the doctor--questions you may have at the time so you'll be ready when you go and see him. With my fill in July it did take a bit for things to get back to normal. I would say 3-4 weeks. Body is just adjusting. I first thought that the fill wasn't working cause I could eat to much. Keep us updated!

    stress=unfill

    Tracy, You did the right thing. Your health is always first, that's why you got the band to begin with. You will do well, still keep your food dairy and drink your liquids. Don't go over board on the foods you CAN EAT NOW! Keep it real. Things will calm down and you will get refilled again. My prayers are with you.

    HELP _ _ _ heartburn, indigestion, can't sleep

    That is such good news!! I'm happy you kept on top of it and have been able to get it under control. Please keep your doctor informed if you haven't already, just in case she/he comes across others who have this issue. They can inform them to look at their diet and eating time as a possible place to start to try to solve their issue. I've had acid reflux off and on for 3 years (the first year was the worst) and I've found that if I eat late that it will come on and wake me in the middle of the night. It hurts so bad, my chest is pounding so hard that I think it's going to explode; I’m sweating and trying to get down the hallway to the kitchen as huge task. I'm able to put out the fire w/a small glass of milk--THANK GOODNESS. I also take Tums before I go back to bed. I really like this site; we talk about anything and everything to help each other out. I wonder if the doctors cruse the site. It would be insightful for them if they did. Again; congratulations on getting things under control!

    Yeahs and Nays

    You sound good. You've done the reading and understanding what the pros and cons are. You will soon see the benefits from your new tool. Keep working out w/Mr. Wilson, he will be a great partner for all your future work outs! It’s good your sleep study went better than expected. I never had to do one of those. Keep us posted.

    I'm in hell now!

    Keep a journal of questions and concerns you'd like to ask your Doctor. I've not heard about the middle of the night hunger pain. I myself have acid reflux and when it happens it seems to be in the middle of the night and I wake up in pain and sweating. I rush to the kitchen and down some milk and it stops immediately and then take some Tums before I go back to bed. It doesn’t happen as much now but I’ve noticed that when I have fills it comes back. Keep up the “good choices” on your food; it’s showing that you’re doing a good job from the weight loss you indicated. I was just thinking; are you drinking enough liquids during the day?
  17. SanDiegoUbermom

    Grrr, Stupid people piss me off!!

    Those kids of people just don't understand. They either have the same issue and are jealous that you had the BALLS to do something about it or they don't have a weight issue and can't understand why we just don't go to the gym or eat less to lose the weight. Your doing great! Not lose your faith because of those kinds of people.

    Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

    Boy it seems like I'm eating a lot! :mad: With the new site that I'm using (myfitnesspal.com) to journal my food, I'm posting everything as you can see because I really want to see just how many calories I'm really eating. This is new for me. Way back when when I tried counting calories, I found it to be to time consuming. But it's easy now! I've calculated my calorie intake to be at 1,200 a day to lose 2 pounds a week. So far so good, even with all this food.:wub: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today B/Oscar Mayer - Turkey Bacon, 2 slice Large Eggs Fried W/Pam Potatoes - O’Brien, home-prepared, 0.25 cup S/Cheerios Honey Nut L/Souplantation: Chicken 2 oz 2t Rnch Dressing & 1t Balsamic Dressing 1 hardboiled egg 4 Sweet pickles ½ celery stalk 1 radish 2 cauliflower florets ½ c ice berg lettuces Grated carrots 2 bits Mac & cheese & Tuna Tarragon ¼ brownie Vanilla Lowfat yogurt ice cream Chopped nuts S/Nurti Grain Cereal Bar/Blueberry D/Oscar Mayer-Turkey Bacon – 1 slice Large Eggs Fried W/Pam Potatoes - O’Brien, home-prepared, 0.25 cup 1,316 Calories (Over by 116 cal.) ___________________________________________________________________ Yesterday B/Yoplait French Vanilla Yogurt – 1 Container Honey Nut Cherrios – ¾ c No mid morning snack L/Mission fl tortilla Ketchup ½ T Mustard ½ T Mayo ½ T 3 pickles 1 sl White American Chz 2 oz Ground beef 1 package snack size Dorritos Cool Rch S/(beach w/the kids for 4 hours) Mozzarella/Cheddar chz stick 100 cal ritz snack mix 7 cheddar chz nips ½ banana 1 c Koshi Heart to Heart Honey Oat Cereal D/1 c stewed chkn 2 T Kc Masterpiece Honey BBQ sauce 1 package snack size Frito corn chips 1,755 Cal (exercised, rec'd extra calories)

    Questions, anxious, looking for some support

    Here is lesson number one in your new life change---chew, chew, chew and eat slow. But wait...don't eat yet. Keep w/the liquids for a bit longer. Don't rush things, it will come. Maybe make some jello? Or ice pops? Just to change it up. When you get stuck it will hurt as you know. I too have had more then my share lately. I had another fill in July and I some times forget to chew, chew, chew and eat slower that I had a few months ago. I found that if I walk, it helps things go down and produces a burp which gives a huge amount of relief! If you come across acid reflux--I either reach for the tums or a small cup of milk. In the middle of the night I find that milk helps out quickly but before I go back to bed I'll also take some tums too. Shakes: "you can't handle them"--is it cause of the taste or that you can't drink them down? Because your a newbie--you should be sip, sip, sipping right now only. Keep us posted or if you have a question; go to the chat line. There is usually someone there that can answer most questions.

    It's good news week!

    Way to go! You've done a great job and now it's time for your reward. I've not heard about this "mid band" before, I wonder if this is the same as the "sleeve" I keep hearing about. I don't know much about that one either. Keep us posted! Christmas--oh you'll have a late gift coming to you :}

    I received a fill in July of this year. I had not received one since November of 2007. (That's when I thought I was a know it all and could do it myself. I was losing weight and didn't need support - of any kind) Boy I was I wrong. I had dropped 30 pounds in 2007 since my surgery in July of 2006, but when I decided to get my a$$ together I was 10 heavier. In April of 2009 you could say I was reborn. I decided that I did need help—OF ANY KIND! I started searching the web, keeping a food journal, joined a support group and went to see my doctor (for the first time since 11/07). I rec’d a fill in July, the doc and I thought there was only 7cc in but we soon found out I had 8cc. He added only .5cc but it was enough. It took a good 2 weeks before I could really feel the restrictions. I’ve always been tight in the morning but now it’s a bit more. I drink before I eat to help loosen things up. I can only eat half of what I used to in the morning and I’m hungry w/in an hour. This is new; Yesterday I became concerned while trying to eat my lunch: [/b]:%20void(0);"]Mission Tortillas - Yellow Corn Tortillas - Super Size (Approx 6.5"), 1 tortilla [/b]:%20void(0);"]Cheese - Cheddar, 0.5 oz [/b]:%20void(0);"]Lettuce - Iceberg (includes crisphead types), raw, 0.5 leaf outer [/b]:%20void(0);"]Sun Vista - Black Beans -- No Salt Added, 0.025 cup [/b]:%20void(0);"]Taco Bell - Taco Sauce - Medium, 1 tbsp I started having heart palpitations after having 3 bits. I put my hand on my chest and could feel it move. It didn’t last long but boy is was scary. I waited a few minutes and it stopped and I was able to finish my taco. I had another taco for dinner and didn’t have any problems. I get stuck more often now I’ve noticed too. I need to remember to chew, chew, chew.

    I was okay today. I didn't have any problems but I tell you I sure was waiting for it. I chewed it all up and ate slowly today too. I see my doctor on the 15 next month, I'll ask him about it.

    I'm finding it easier...

    I did it again today and I OMG, I'm eating and it's ok! Today I could see that I had a low calorie count (under 800, but yesterday it was 1,262). I would have never had known if I had never given it a try. Loving It!
