    Swine Flu

Last Monday I was told my oldest DS had the Swine Flu (SF). I have four kids and thank GOD only one had it. I can tell you I lost a lot of sleep for a few days. But we were lucky, he had a mild case. He had been feeling sick the week prior, worse over the weekend and by Monday after going to Urgent Care (We went because we had been in contact w/someone who had been tested postitive the Friday prior, got a phone call that let us know). There was a close call w/strep too. He had white bumps on his tonsils too. It came back negitive so at least I had one thing off of my list to worry about. They did a SF rapid test on 3 of four of my kids and only one was positive but we still needed to have the lab follow up done for the next day. It was a long day, waiting for that phone call to tell me the results. It came late in the day (of course) and all was the same from the night before at Urgent Care. Only one had SF and the rest had cold symptoms...ear infections, water behind both ears and swollen limph nodes. Because my DS did not have a high grade fever we did not receive the medicine Tamiflu (sp?) to fight it, we were told to use over the counter meds. I am happy to say that he is on the mend, he went to school that Wednesday and only missed one day of school. His fever was gone by that evening and was fever clear for 24 hours. He had residual muscle aches from all the sneezing and mild headaches but as of today is his back to normal! I am now trying to get back into the right eatting habits again. I was eating what I could, when I could. I hope you and yours are safe during this difficute flu time. PLEASE REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR HANDS, KEEP SOME HAND SANITIZER NEAR OR WITH YOU! IF YOU OR A FAMILY MEMBER IS SICK ...PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AT HOME.

I'm afraid of what my *belly* will look like after weightloss

One thing I've been doing is exercising (twice a week--Zumba. Started out w/water aerobics, did that for a year). With the weight coming of slow it has given me time to tone up. Yes I have a tummy issue but it could be worse, if I had lost the weight fast I wouldn't have had the time to tone up. If you haven't yet, give some thought to exercise.

Left side pain upper stomach...freaking out!

I had issues for the first year. It was because of my port. Is your's on the left side? You do need to watch out but it will go away if it's a port issue pain. Good luck.

10/14/09 - Teenagers, can we shoot them?

Oh I'm so glad I'm not alone. My DS is my issue and he's not even a teenager yet!! (12 going on 20) Taking the phone is only an issue for a week and then he's over it. Grounding just drives me crazy and the rest of the house. But making him work for free...house chores, neighborhood jobs, grandma wrk...He doesn't like working for free.

    Want to hear something funny?!

Real quick...I went looking for my belt this morning. Well I found it, put it on and then noticed that it was my husbands belt! I figured it out as I tried to buckle it up. Got it to the first loop and couldn't understand why it wasn't going down like it usually does...then I really looked at the belt. I had such a huge smile on my face! I started laughing! Set the tone for the rest of my day! HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

    Restriction

Way to go! As people will see and notice; you take your time, you enjoy your food..each and every bite, don’t drink during (unless it extremely necessary), take time to enjoy those around you. Don’t be surprised if they pick up one of these new habits! Remember to listen to your body now. If you feel full or just comfortable, stop. It’s part of the new head game. Set your phone alarm; for ½ hour after you eat to remind yourself to drink. You’re doing great!

    Hello world

WELCOME BANDSTARR430!! It really is up to you to do this or not. Ya it would be nice to have family support but...not all of us get that at the start and then they see...they see what you've been tell them all along on what this "tool" will do for you and now the results that come from the proper use of the “tool”. Maybe have them come with you to your meetings, to the doctors’ appointments and let them ask questions too. Make them feel and be involved, “family support is always welcomed”. My DH has always been supportive but he even thanked me for asking him to come with me to my meetings during my 6 months before surgery. It was also good to have someone else there to talk to later about the topics that came up and how I might do this or that or even the same. As mentioned I had to go through a 6 month waiting period too. I had to maintain my weight, I was not asked to lose any. I started out at 225 (I’m 5’1”). Went to meetings, psychologist, nutritionist, had to journal all my food/liquids/exercise, and of course a monthly meeting w/the doctor. Then….I was asked to go on a two week liquid diet before surgery. Oh I thought I was going to die. It was hard but worth it!! Keep your chin up, talk again to the family and ask them to come w/you to meetings, continue to research to make sure that this is the right thing for you and be proud of yourself for recognizing that you do need help to get your life back, be healthy, and be happy. Good luck and keep us posted

    Ticker

Okay; go to "User CP", (this is at the top left of each page) scroll down to "Settings & Options" on the left side of the window. Click on "Edit Signature". There is the box that you can put what ever you want in as your signature including your ticker. Yes; paste the "bbCode" from your favorite ticker site there in the box. Before you post, preview it to confirm. I hope this helps.

    last try

Alright; I've been playing w/this because it's been a while since I did this. Go to your ticker website, copy from the bbCode. Then come back here and paste. To check it out before you post, go to advance and "preview post". If you don't see it, then it didn't work. But it should. If this is what you like and you'd like it in your "signature", do the same thing, copy it to there, preview and then post. I hope this works.

    Back on track!

I’ve been on track for two days now and it feels good to be eating food and not just snacks—the wrong kind of snacks to be exact. While I was at Zumba (exercise class) yesterday, I had many people ask “what have you done, what are you doing, you look marvelous”. This is the only place outside my house I wear skin tight clothing. So everything shows. Those moments are what I needed, a reminder of what I’m doing. As I explained my routine (leaving out the band info---that’s a need to know bases ya know) about exercise, eating right, keeping a journal, sticking to a certain amount of calories per day and making sure I drink enough water. It clicked. I got it. I’m going down the right path to get back on track again. I needed to hear it out loud, to bring it to the forefront of my brain. It felt good to share my experience, help others to start on a program for a better and healthier life.

    A cry for help

I was doing so well during the summer. Posting each day about my food, liquids and exercise. Since the kid's school has started I can't find the time do log. I'm lost. I eat whats easy and that's usually not the right thing. I've been dumping lately because I'm eating on the go. I wish it was summer again! I'm maintaining but....how long will that last. I cancelled my fill for this month because I was doing so well. I moved it to November. I think I might need to call and move it up. I fell I'm losing it! HELP!!

    Ah, today is much better

    Way to go!

    Wrong choice

egomez; call the doc, make an appointment for a fill. If you have one already, make an appointment to talk about what's going on and ask why it's it working? Make up a questionnaire sheet for him/her about your concerns, be prepared for the appointment. Maybe you need to speak to the nutritionist? You've come all this way, don't give up yet!
  23. Did you have any problems with the chat line today? I was in earlier today but around 10:30 PST I couldn't get in.

angcal26, georgiagirl & jollygreen1955; Thank you all for responding. Yes; planning ahead has always helped me in the past. Right now it’s just a little hard because I’m out of money & can’t do grocery shopping for just me…I can for the family, but not my stuff yet. I’m digging through the freezer to see what meats I can cook up and have for later. Chili sounds good too…georgiagirl what is your recipe for that? I’ve see that I have some carrots, radishes, letuce too, just need to clean and cut up. There’s a salad right there. Remember my cake and soda recipe; I’ll need to look through the pantry and see if I have cake mix. This way I’ll have my sweet tooth taken care of. Today I’ve been good; walked so it earned me extra calories to work with. 1,392 (189 added for the walk, usual is 1200) and drank 8 glasses so far. B/EAS Premium Protein/Choc w/2% milk = 270 L/Tuna Salad w/mayo, radish, sharp chdr chz, pinapple & lettuce = 300 s/Pineapple & 2 100 cal snacks = 320 (who knew pineapple was so big in cal.) D/Cheese burger; bun, American chz, thou drsng, pickles, onion, ketchup, A1 sauce, 93% lean/7% fat patty = 472 I really enjoyed the tuna salad w/a hint of pineapple Dinner was great, at it slow because of the bun and it was great. It was wonderful to eat and not snack all day. Had 3 crystal lights today too – 30 Thank you again everyone for being there for me. I love this site!
