    Week Three is almost over....

Congratulations, you are doing great. I am back on softies as I just had my first fill yesterday. I had liquids all day yesterday. Bored, Yes I know the feeling. I do try to switch it up and I have been doing a bite of cooking. I still have to get the protein in. I tried some red pepper soup it was very tasty. Not hot but warmed it was just what I needed. There are people on this site that have recipes listed some are very good. Check them out. Hope all is well. I was banded June 29 I am only 4 weeks post op and feel so much better today. imaluckydog

    Saboteur-Perfectionism

For Today: Prayer is not logical, and yet it works. Where rational intelligence fails, I place my faith in a source of help that is beyond my understanding and know that I will receive what I need. Little White Book I enjoy reading your blog thanks for the lift. imaluckydog

I'm In THE Club: Club Bandster

Hi, Best wishes and feel better soon. I was scheduled to go in at noon and I did not go into surgery until 4 O'clock. I had an extremely long wait then the Dr. came out and said he had an emergency and then I would be next. He also thanked me for being patient and also for filling in a spot that another person was unable to make. The story of my life is the waiting game. When it comes to lap band take it slow and easy. Chew only when it is time and go slow and easy. I know I said that twice! I am reminding myself to do that as I just had my first fill and I again have to chew slowly to beat the band. Welcome, we have fun on these pages. Thanks for sharing and please keep us posted. imaluckydog

Anyone remember Mary Poppins? OK I'm Old.. I was Banded 6.29.09 and my First Fill 7.29.09 I feel a little like Mary Poppins right about now as I float into my Doctors office today for my four week HAPPY VISIT. I know I feel lighter but I did not know how much lighter. I do not own a scale. I was not even sure I would get a fill? I thought it was to be 6 weeks out and I am only 4 weeks post surgery. I look in the mirror and I see a fat person. I have had to buy new bras and new clothes. I have gone down two sizes. Yikes!! My family has paid me a lot of complements and I do take them well. It does make me feel good. I still feel like a fat person. I see my fat self in the mirror. I hope this will change! I will need to make that happen. I am working on it...... Although I was light on my toes when I walked in, I flew out as HIGH as a KITE when I left. My nurse said "are you here for a Fill?" I said you tell me? I had to fill out a one page questionnaire, took about 20 minutes. It was almost like a test. How much this do you eat? How much that? Does this happen when? and are you allergic to anything OMG!! How many times have I had to tell them this stuff. I think they do this because it buys them time in between patients. Today before I left home I weighed my shoes so I would know how many ounces to subtract from my weight. My sneakers weighed 3.3 ounces I am a nut case, who in their right mind weighs their shoes??? I have an old food scale my husband uses when he catches fish. LOL Ok the Fill. DO NOT READ if you get squeamish OK...Lay down on the bed and push your stomach out as the nurse pushes the needle in. She said it's a 2 inch needle that goes into my port area. No, I could not look!! I get squeamish too!!! Put your arms over your head and she said breathe normally. YA OH RIGHT!!! Oh that's if she can find my port!!! She was trying to be nice. I have a lot of adipose tissue (you know FAT) and she has the needle in and it takes almost 10 minutes (no kidding) to find the correct angle. I keep breathing. She is being nice and I am saying I'm just Fat!!! I am not sure I enjoy this experience AT all. The nurse was so patient. I am sure if I had said "oh forget it" she probably would have!!! I am glad she hung in there and gave me a Fill I will NEVER EVER FORGET!!!! Here is the deal.. I have a 10-cc Allergen Band. At surgery time I got a 2-cc primer Fill. Today, She gave me 2-cc's I now have 4-cc's. Only liquids for 24 hours. Soft foods for 2 to 3 days after or how ever I feel on the third day. It is recommended I continue to eat slow and to chew, chew, chew to Beat the Band. The nurse said I may not feel any restriction for about a week. She said just take it easy and go by how you feel. I am very excited with a loss of 10 pounds. Add that to the 37 I lost / or misplaced before because that is what I lost first post op happy visit. I am down a total of 47 pounds. Where did it GO? NO I DO NOT MISS IT :smilielol5: Excersize is not my favorite thing I walk and that is all I do, I WALK. I am making good food choices and I feel full most of the time. My head does get hungry but I do NOT FEED IT!! THAT IS MY MONSTER WITHIN. I want to be small so I eat small. I am what I eat. FRIENDS Thank you to everyone who has given me tips and helpful remarks. I am finding this journey to be more manageable than I had envisioned. I am creating my destiny. All I can say is: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious imaluckydog

Thank you for all the comments. I have always felt full. I have to take it very slowly. I met with another person who had it done at the same hospital and she did not get the 2 cc primer, like I did. I am not sure why I did? I have had a hard time today after yesterdays first fill.. I am drinking only today. I made the mistake of having a bite of a muffin OOPPPssssss. Not a good thing. I will not do that again. I honestly feel full so full. I am not sure I like it. iamaluckydog

    Tip #1

Tell me about paper work... LOL I had all my paper work done and everything was approved. The hospital sent to my insurance all need paper work. I had done all required test and classes so when my date got moved up, I was on the phone with the insurance company at 8 am having them fax the needed info to my hospital because of a glitch. Phone approval will not get surgery with my insurance. LOL Tell me about paper work??? When will we all go green??? Good Luck and Best wishes it is a Learning, Healthful, Journey. Create your own destiny and be prepared. I am going for my first fill today. imaluckydog

    The New Me!

Yes, it was hard for me too! I am now at 4 and a half weeks and it can still be hard. I do feel full most of the time. Try to keep to the Dr.'s orders as the first couple of weeks you are healing and that is so important. I can now eat just about anything I want. I just have to chew, chew, chew to beat the band and eat very slowly. Be mindful what and how much you are eating. The liquids were very hard for me I ran back to the Dr. cuz I could not keep it down. I had to really slow down my drinking and change types of protein drinks. I did not want to have an un-fill. Well tomorrow I go for my first fill. I am excited I know I have lost but I do not know how much. Best wishes to you and you will feel better in a few days. It took me about two week to start really feeling better. Although I have heard of some going back to work in three days. I needed longer. Welcome to the Lap Band Journey. Stay in touch. Kathy imaluckydog

    5 days post revison surgery

Hi, I have had my band for 4 and a half weeks and I am getting my first fill tomorrow. You sound like me. LOL!!! I had a surgery date of July 20 back in the day. It was about a few days out and the nurse calls me on a Friday June 26 and says how would you like to come in on Monday June 29 and have your LB done early. Ya RIGHT I said!!! I was not ready at all. It is a shock to your system so take it slow and easy. You know it will all come back to you. Have confidence in your NEW BAND and yourself. You have done so well for 3 years you are inspiration to me. Thanks for sharing. Kathy imaluckydog
  18. Hi Laura My Band Buddy. I have been thinking about you and hope all is well? We finally turned on the air conditioning. We usually need it in July but we have had so mush rain. It is HOT now that's for sure. I am going for my first fill tomorrow have you had one yet? I am nervous, I know I have lost but not sure how much. I do not own a scale. Hope all is well just wanted you to know you and your family have been on my mind. Love Kathy imaluckydog to have friends like you!!

  19. Barbara, How have you been? I am going in for my first fill tomorrow. I must say I am excited. I will get on the scale to see if I have lost? I know I have but not how much. I do not own a scale for fear I would be on it every minute of the day. I was banded about four and a half weeks ago. Hope all is well with you. Would love to hear from you and how you are doing? Banded July 20,2009...UPDATE

Do you have any support groups in your area? Please follow your Doctors and Nurses orders. You need to heal properly. The first week on liquids is so important, then a week of soft or mushies again very important. I remember having some liquid protein for some meals as the food is so heavy. I would have soft eggs for breakfast and a protein drink for lunch and then a light meal for dinner. If you rush food you may feel uncomfortable. I did!! NOT a good feeling I must say. I am 4 weeks post op today and I have trouble with grilled red meats and pork it must be just too dry and sits wrong in my stomach. You will try things and when the feeling hits you know it. I must say follow your orders to the letter it is for your own health and the band. My first operation date was to be July 20, I was so excited. I am excited for you!! Then I got a call and my date changed and was moved up to June 29, they took me early as I was ready and had met all the requirements. Someone who's heart was not able to under go the surgery had to give up their apt. Long story short we are all on the health journey and it has been a good one for me so far. I can't wait to get weighed tomorrow as I do not own a scale yet. I can't believe I just said that I never ever wanted to be weighed in my entire life, look what happens I'm going to the dogs for sure. Best Wishes and keep blogging and find support. Kathy imaluckydog I hope to hear from you and Best Wishes on your journey into Bandlandia. Kathy imaluckydog

family.. not worken with me here HELP

I am 4 weeks post op ant I have had pizza to Lobster. In small amounts of course eat slowly and chew, chew, chew, to beat the BAND. I have had hamburger (no bun) wrapped in lettuce so good. The only thing I have found I can not swallow just yet is grilled red meats and pork if it is too dry I have a hard time with it and it sits in my stomach not such a good feeling. I do not waste my time talking to my family about my life choices. They just do not get it!!! This is my journey. Talk here on these pages people do read and listen and share their experiences and it is such a relief. I do have some family support but have found they do not want me talking about it all the time. I have kept the learning to myself, I am happily post op and have taken a week vacation and survived on restaurant food by making good choices. I have lost I know since my op 37 pounds and I weigh in tomorrow and get my first fill. I know I have lost I have gone down 2 sizes and non of my clothes fit. The journey is a long one and many good things happen along the way. Best wishes to you and hope to hear from you again. imaluckydog

Start with your Health Care Insurance first. They can tell you Doctors in your network. That is how I started. I think you want the insurance to cover it I have heard "self pay" is extremely expensive. I was banded 4 weeks ago. Good Luck it is quite a long, learning, journey. Best wishes we all had to start somewhere and these pages are a good place to start. imaluckydog

The Band - It is hard work

Hi, I was banded June 29 th it has been hard especially when the head starts spinning out of control. I also use this site to get my control back. When I blog I am keeping my paws out of the cookie jar. This site helps me to jump back on the band wagon and that does make me feel so much better. Keep up the good work and positive thinking. imaluckydog
