GuyMontag reacted to 5.0junkie in Is It True What They Say???
Hey Guy, if it is true we just may have to start a new kind of LapBand results forum.

GuyMontag got a reaction from PrettyThick1 in Partial band slip
You may get lucky and they can fix it with an unfill. If not, you'll more than likely have to go through a revision. If they do the unfill the stomach can go back the way it's supposed to be. Maybe since they said you have a partial slip the odds are better that you can just do an unfill to fix it. Good luck!

Not sure the exact amount but yes. Mainly, as the fat around it contracts back you do gain additional length. The rumors are fantastically true!

Hello everyone!
Until I hit puberty, I was as skinny as a rail. Once I did hit it though, I gained weight and kept it on. I guess i was never really "fat" even though I was called fat by classmates and the like, but I've always been bigger than I wanted to be. My mother passed away after a brief battle with cancer last year, and that sent me into a really bad funk where I gained a lot of weight. My wife and I also welcomed our first child near the end of 2012. It was certainly time for a change.
I started this journey at 6'1, 349 pounds. I lost 10 pounds leading up to the surgery, and have lost another 20 since my surgery, which was at the end of June this year. I am currently at 319 pounds and heading in the right direction. I look forward to interacting with you all and sharing the experience together!

GuyMontag reacted to skikyd in To Band or Sleeve..that is the question??
I originally went in looking for a band. After talking to others and a gastroenterology doctor friend, I opted for a sleeve.
I am not trying to change anyone's mind. Just telling my story. WLS in 30 hours.

I put my utensil down between each bite and chew. I also do not get my next bite ready while I'm chewing like I used to do.

You can always start over. Support is definitely the key to sustaining your success. You may consider going once a month to the support group that is an hour a fifteen minutes away. If you make that commitment it might help you realize how committed you are to the new start.
You could also start your own support group in your area. There is a website called Meetup.com that is really helpful in starting new groups or finding weight loss groups in your area. Good luck!

GuyMontag reacted to missybear in Quick question...Myth or Fact?
I fly often both around Australia and internationally. No problems to date specific to the plane, I got stuck and felt ill due to mushroom (which happens on flat ground as well).
I've also had a fill the day if a flight. I think I worked myself up a little bit about the fear of it being tighter on a flight, but fortunately nothing happened. I just stuck to my liquids as advised by the doc after a fill.
I actually find it nice now to turn away airplane meals and if I do try them, I'm very satisfied having a taste of bits and pieces, leaving some behind, rather than feeling like ' omg is that all' like I did pre band

GuyMontag reacted to Amy Carter in pain
i was just banded yesterday and i can have an ounce of liquid every 15 minutes. I sip the ounce and it lasts about 5 minutes. The gas is almost all gone now. My heating pad has really helped.
I hope you find what helps you.

First four days are usually the worst. After that you can expect some pain at the port site for a couple of weeks. Keep taking the pain meds they gave you and it should get better.

Nope. My doc is located in West Chester, Ohio.
