  1. We'll be thinking about you tomorrow!! Good luck and prayers for a Happy Surgery Day!
  2. I am so excited for you! This is the beginning of a beauuuuutiful friendship between you and your band! I went and posted about the problems in the board questions/support forum. We'll see!
  3. We've had several posts simply "disappear" in the Feb 2011 Bandster forum...also, posts will be cut off after only a few sentences. What's the dealie-O? This is getting really, really frustrating.
  4. Okay, where in the he*l is the rest of my post??!!! This is getting VERY irritating!! There was a lot more than just "I'm so tired"!!! Grrrrrrrr!!! Can't the admins here get it together??
  5. Well, my pre-op appt is in two hours. I am so tired I can hardly see straight.
  6. I'm afraid it's that "American" type of eating that got a lot of us in this boat to begin with! LOL!! So I'll have to be a different kind of American, like the kind from the early 20th century. No fluffy foods!! (those are foods that make me "fluffy"!!)
  7. Wow, Elle, I am really sorry. That is horrible! I hope it all gets worked out though. I was reading either here or on a blog somewhere about this person that went through a series of delays and they thought, wow, maybe this is God telling me "don't do it", but they went ahead and they were SO glad they did. So just think how much sweeter this will all be when you are done with surgery and losing weight! I don't sense by your post that you're even considering giving up, but I just wanted to encourage you anyway!
  8. Hey Elle! My latest post must have been a casualty in the big post loss from this month. I, too, am keeping my original date! So it's all good! I understand about it being an eye-opener. I think it just reinforces the idea that ultimately, it's our own strength that will get us through this journey and lead us to success. I think just based on what you said here that you are MORE than ready and will do great!
  9. Thank you so much for posting that, bigtom. I am definitely getting it!
  10. I feel just like you! I am not emotional, in fact, aside from my initial anxiety, I've been downright indifferent myself and have felt like an observer too. I think that must have to do with the multiple times I have been disappointed in my life after being excited about a diet, exercising, etc...and now I'm looking at this with a....I dunno...realism I never expected. This is serious business, this surgery. It's hard to get excited about it when I know the mental steps it took for me to get here. I am sure that once I start fitting into pants in my closet that haven't seen my hips in 5 years, I'll begin to get excited. Maybe.
  11. I have no idea! That is messed up!
  12. Elle! I am so sorry. That is a big bummer, I know. You won't believe this, but I have to call my doc's office tomorrow to see if I can reschedule mine to the 23rd because my sister called me last night to tell me she was not going to be able to come down the week of the 16th. Niiiiice. Not her fault, but still....urgh. So, we might be banded on the same day! You never know!!
  13. Hey Elle! Well, I grew up in Kingwood, my husband grew up in Angleton, but for the past 20 years I have stayed on the west side. When my husband and I got married in 2001 we bought a condo in Memorial near Town and Country, and we stayed there until September of 2009 when we moved here. We LOVE Clear Lake and the area. We are big boating fans and always saw ourselves being close to the Water, so this has been an adjustment for us. There are lakes around though, and some beautiful rivers, so that's definitely a bonus!! You know, I wanted to say that if you are feeling tired, it could be because your body is starting to use itself as fuel. I remember back on Atkins when that happened. I became super sluggish around day 2 or 3, but usually got a huge surge of energy around day 4 or 5. I don't really know why. Anyway, you might want to get some Ketostix (just ask for them at the pharmacy desk) and check several times a day to see if you're in ketosis, which means you're burning FAT! :-) Yay!
  14. Hey Elle! We came to San Antonio from Houston just over a year ago! Hubby and I both were raised there. We miss it soooo much, but we are enjoying San Antonio.
  15. are there any of you NOT on a pre-op diet? I'm wondering if I will just get mine when I go for my pre-op appt on the 10th...but they haven't said anything about it yet! Is it an insurance requirement? I'm self-pay.
  16. YAY! Congrats!! I think that pain might be gas pain? Did they tell you? Poor thing. I am glad to hear you are all done and well. Can't wait to watch as you go through your journey, Smokey! It's just the beginning, but wow, of a whole new chapter...heck, a whole new book!!
  17. Good luck Smokey!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!
  18. Smokey, you are right, you WILL get over it!!! It will be just about the time you get yourself into a pair of jeans, look in the mirror, and say, "Dang, I make this look good!" Truly though, you are my hero. It's a scary thing doing this by yourself, but I understand about your hesitancy in telling family. My parents are gone, but my sister knows, only b/c I know she'll keep it to herself. My husband's parents are still alive, as are all his siblings, and none of them know....nor WILL THEY...at least not right now. I love them all, but they can be very judgemental and stick their nose in where it doesn't belong. Thankfully my husband supports that decision 100% and in fact, suggested it LOL So Friday, eh? All righty then. Hopefully you will have internet there at your hospital and you can check in with us.
  19. My surgery date has been scheduled: February 16. My pre-op appointment is for the 10th. I find I am excited, nervous, and surprisingly, hesitant...like...do I really, really want to do this? Is this just all in my mind that I really need this surgery and I can't just do it by dieting? I think I've been waiting so long for this that I wonder if it is all real. It is hard for me to imagine what my life might be like this time next year. P.S. does anyone know how to change the Member Title? I've looked all over under the "edit profile" feature and nothing....I need to change October 2010 to February 16, 2010 up there underneath my pic. Thanks!
  20. I hope I didn't offend by offering advice. I just wanted to help.
  21. Hey Lori, thank you so much!! I did want to let you know that you can quote someone and respond in the same post--I didn't know if you knew that or maybe your computer was being wacky, as computers often are! When you quote someone's post, all you have to do is type your response right underneath their quote in the text box. I hope that helps somewhat!
  22. Here's the thing that sealed the deal for me (and I've had all sorts of peoole giving me their unsolicited 2 cents...LOL): Lap-Band is reversable and removable. Gastric Sleeve is permanent. There are no long-term studies to show what gastric bypass or gastric sleeve surgery will do to your body. I am very blessed to have a husband who is a Ph.D. in Genetics and Human Molecular Biology. He was very matter of fact about this surgery and felt that the lap-band was the best one for me based on the above. Trust yourself, but brace yourself, too. You will find opposition. Have confidence in your decision and do not feel like you have to explain yourself.
  23. Hi there I'm Polly, and I am having my lapband done in February! In fact, I am calling the scheduler back tomorrow to pick a date. It has been a long road as I was supposed to have it done over a year ago, but my husband got a terrific job offer and we moved from Houston to San Antonio and the new insurance did not cover it. So we began to save money and here I am. I am excited but very nervous, however, when I start to feel anxious....all I think of is how many things are wrong with me physically that will be sooo much better in the long run. I just turned 40 last month, so this is, in a way, a birthday present to myself, in the hopes that I have many, many more birthdays!! I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, a form of hypothyroidism, and I also have PCOS and a mess of other little annoying things that tie into those two. I live in San Antonio, I have been married 8 1/2 years and have two sweet little girls. I look forward to getting to know you all as we move through this journey together!!
  24. Okay, so here it is 7 months later and I have most of my $$ for the surgery. It is $12.5K and I have $8K. The other $4.5K will be put on my recently-paid off credit card--but it's a lower interest rate than CareCredit so that's why I'm doing it. I've notified Dr. Cavazos' office and they've sent all the paperwork. Now I wait for their scheduler to call me. Very exciting! Just wanted to update.
