Good morning! Whoa, it's noon. So It's my day off and I'm sick. Luckily I have no plans or appts today. I can just sit on the couch being sore and sick. Have I mentioned how I love being sore. It makes me feel like I've actually done something worth a damn. Last night we did 30 minutes of intervals on the elliptical/arc tranier thing. Then we went to the outdoor basketball court to do some core work. I could see the steam coming off me! So cool. Reggie- I bought the pesto, how much did you use for that chicken? Were those chickens swimming in pesto or just marinated? I need to make some chicken! lol. Coco- I have more soup if you want. We're kind of souped-out. Robbie can definately have the recipe! John & Lee- Do they let you see your stomach before they dispose of it? I'd kinda want to see mine in a jar so I could say a proper goodbye. Is that wrong? Of course, when I was 16 and in my first car accident I almost lost a toe, and I wanted them to get me a mirror so I could see how bad it was. (The ER nurse lifed the toe and said "cool" so I really wanted to see it too) Funny, since the boyfriend can't handle anything like that and I've got this sick curiosity. Anyway, I'm hoping to get out for a walk around the neighborhood for at least a few minutes. Oh! And I wore my MBTs to work yesterday, it was our 1 jeans and tennies shoes day of the month, so I wore thos MBTs and felt great. I can't tell if they made me sore or if that's the trainer's fault.

Hello hello! I feel like all sorts of terribleness today. I've been sore for the last five days (which is great, actually) but this cold is threatening. My asthma only bothers me when I'm sick, and it sucks! I got to go visit Coco today! I hope you liked your soup, lady! I'm planning on going to bed early tonight. (For me that's any time in the 10:00 hour) We'll see how that goes. Luckily today is my rest day so no gym for me.

I've got my first real training session tonight. I'm excited and nervous. I just finished baking boyfriend's b-day cake and I'll frost it soon. He's out to dinner with his friends, I figured I shouldn't go out to dinner right before training. lol. And yes, he's a keeper! This long weekend has me out of whack! I will work Tues, Wed and Friday this week. Thursday is my day off! Woohoo. I'm so thankful for all the lovely weather too.

Ali- The weight check depends on where you go. In Elk Grove, they told me I have to make an appt (which is stupid- but I still do). Nicole told me Point West doesn't require appts, but that's during normal business hours. As far as I know, no one is open there over the weekend. I just got my b-day present 10 days early. My boyfriend got me MBTs! I'm stoked! They were recommended by my podiatrist which is why I wanted them over the shape-ups. I'm loving them! So far I'm just walking around the house. I'm excited for my new shoes! The cool thing about them is that they make my shins feel great. I'm still a little sore when I wear any other shoe but I put on the MBTs and my shins feel great! I did the body fat testing this morning. If you ever want to pay $40 to feel like you're drowning, do it! lol. I'm glad I did, and I'll do it in the future to see how far I've come. You go in to the trailer and they have two little dressing rooms, you (swim)suit-up and hop in the tank. The water is heated to 90 degrees. They put a little weight belt over your back half because you're essentially laying face-down on a scale under water. You start out propped up on you hands or elbows and the guy tells you to breathe in, and breath out relaxed. Then breath in and exhale very fast, when you think you got the air out, go under water and keep exhaling. He's shouting "keep blowing keep blowing, blow, blow, blow" and when the bubbles stop you hold it until the guy knocks on the tank. Then you repeat two more times. They take the best of the three. The throught is that each time you do it, you get a little more air out each time. Then you get dressed and meet the other person with your print-out that has your resting metabolic rate, your body fat % and a list of how many calories you burn for various activities. I'm most excited about re-testing after I've lost a bit of weight.

Hey ladies! I did end up at the gym this afternoon, did about 30 min on the treadmill and I feel less sore already. I was sore in the shins, the hips and the muscles on the outside of my back. Good times! I actually like feeling a little sore since it reminds me that I did something worth doing. We don't really celebrate Valentine's day, both our b-days are in Feb so it's a lot of celebrating. We get eachother cards. I made my favorite soup tonight. I planned on buying Macaroni Grill's Chicken Toscani soup but when I called to order it I was told they took it off the menu a few weeks ago. So, with the assistance of my friend Google, I found the recipe. It's pretty bomb. Nicole- let me know if you want some. I don't know how it will puree, but even strained it's pretty good. This weekend has been beautiful. We had great weather on Saturday when I did my 5k, and today was so nice too. I walked at the gym today because I found out the tie-breaker rule for the challenge is based on attendance. So I'm going to get to the gym as much as possible, even if its just for a few minutes! lol. Tomorrow is my fella's birthday. And I have my appt to get my body fat test in the morning, better go find my swimsuit! Anyone hear about the Kevin Smith/Southwest incident? I'm so glad I know I fit in airline seats now.

I'm sick too! Bummer. Well, so far it's just a gnarly sore throat but I know the rest is coming my way. The fella just got over his cold and gave it to me. That's love. Oh, and it's his birthday tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes. I'm hecka sore from my workout yesterday. It just tells me I need to walk way more. And I should stretch more too. I'm wondering if I should rest today or do a light walk. Hmmm. I'll keep you posted, I know you're on the edge of your seats.

Ashley, You are amazing. I don't have any advice, but you seem to be doing the right stuff, getting that baby a checkup is a good place to start. How are your boys taking to him? It must be tough, but I know that little boy is going to do so much better with an attentive adult in his life. Do you have family close by to help you out? I'm sure once he gets going with your routine you'll have the time/energy to get on the treadmill again.

Howdy! I'm now finished with day 1 of my 8 week challenge. It's been quite a day. I was at the gym at 8am ready to weigh-in and do whatever the group exercise would be. Well, the weigh-in took over an hour. I just sat at one of the tables reading my booklet they gave me while the line went down. Once I finally got in line, I realized they didn't have the scale there anymore. I asked one of the trainers and she told me everyone already finished weighing and there had been two lines, one for weight, the other for body fat. Well, that just got me annoyed. Also annoyed since the group exercise was a 5k and while I was still getting weighed (so I thought) they sent almost everyone out on the 5k. I told the trainer I needed to run to my car to get my sunglasses and sunscreen since the didn't warn us this would be an outdoor thing. She said "ok, we'll wait for you. We don't want to leave anyone behind". I got back from my car and b*tch left me behind. I was so angry I was fighting tears. This felt so disorganized, I still never got the call from my trainer. So I set out on the 5k, I had to ask someone which way they went since they didn't have maps or a marked trail I was lucky to catch up to a few people on their way back. I did the 5k all alone and caught up with the trainer who said she wouldn't leave me. She apparently thought I had left in my car, when I said I was getting sunglasses. She had to head back to the gym so she could take pictures of everyone finishing and wanted me to turn around with the last group of walkers once I reached them. Now you know I didn't do that! I was determined dang it! I went to the very end. I even ran a few times too. My trainer came back to bring me in at the end and he ran with me for a bit, but was late for a meeting so one last trainer walked the rest of the way in with me. I'm really glad I did the whole thing, and ran too. I did it by myself (except that last half-mile or so) and the trainer could see that I ran too. Once I finished, I wasn't livid that I was left behind. In the beginning I kept thinking of what I was going to say in my letter to the management. But I seemed to work it off because it was all better. I also have to complain about their scale, weight limit was about 300 lbs, and their scale was 5 lbs heavier than the one at Kaiser yesterday, and 8 lbs heavier than my scale at home. It's so freaking embarassing to watch that needle go all around the dial and back to zero. Why couldn't they have a digital scale, or one of the old fasioned bar scales? Seriously. Not a great day. So I'm home now, and crazy sore. I had a sensible lunch and now I have a new cool walk route! So perhaps we can get together some time for a walk in the grove!

Howdy ladies! The party at work was too much. I think it was a lesson in saying "No". I was going crazy since I didn't get home until 8:30 the night before and still had food prep, then I get to work and people complained that we were having snack stuff, but no real meal. Well- No one brought anything! Jeez. I wanted to smack a few people... But everyone kept coming up to me and saying "Oh, when's the potluck" I'd tell them 2, cake at 3. And then I'd get a "Oh, then I need to go buy lunch". I'm so done with the party planning committee. DONE! Lucky for me and everyone who works with me, we have a 4 day weekend. It's funny, I was hoping this would be the weekend we could move into our house... Maybe we can be in the house by Easter? Memorial Day? jeez. I'm thinking I should go take a walk around the park and feed some ducks. I have some bread left over from the spinach dip and the ducks could use it more than I could! I'm also trying to decide which class I should take at the gym today- Zumba, Cycle or Cardio Kickboxing. Oh, and the challenge starts tomorrow. I just found out last night that I have to be there from 8-10 Sat morning for weigh-in and the first workout. Glad someone finally told me! I was told 2 1/2 weeks ago (when I signed up) that the trainer would be calling me "in a few days" I still haven't heard from him. I hope that's not a sign of things to come. Anyway- I'm thinking I should pop by Kaiser and get a weight check and get myself walking today! Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Pat, I can't wait to walk the wetlands! Thanks for inviting us over! Riley- Where are you woman!? We miss you! I'm apparently the party planning committee for my office. My coworker is transfering to another division, we got official word yesterday so I was asked (yesterday) to throw together the party for her (tomorrow-her last day). It was supposed to be a potluck, either give me $5 or tell me what you'll bring. Two people are bringing stuff, everyone else gave money. So that meant I had to do all sorts of shopping to feed people. I left work at 5 and didn't get home until 8:30 and still had food prep to do. Why didn't I just decide to order pizza? Ugh.

Breat Size
I lost 9.5 inches from my bust in about 50 lbs. For a while I felt super saggy and was really unhappy. They just don't seem so droopy anymore, I don't know if it was the skin adjusting or what, but they're better. Of course, 100 more lbs and who knows what they'll look like! Don't get discouraged if you don't love the way things look while your body is changing. Think of it as contents settling during the journey.

Pre Op Diet ?
Pre-op diets have a few purposes. 1- Prove to your doc that you're prepared to lose weight and stick with the program 2-Shrink the liver so the blind pass is manageable during surgery... you don't want them poking your heart or something. 3- Less abdominal fat means more room for tools to move too.

Gummie vitamins vs chewables
The Bariatric Advantage calcium is nasty! The lemon one starts out good (kinda like a starburst) but then it gets chalky, which you wouldn't expect from a chew. Yuck.

Tamra, What's with the fries!? I didn't see that on stage 3 lol. I don't mean to nag you I just want you to succeed! If they're hard to stay away from dont get them for your daughter, she doesn't need them either!

No Mo, my goal weight hasn't been reduced. I feel like I need to at least get back down to my 1st goal he set for me for the psych appt (which I met) and maybe 5-10 below that before I can even ask to have my goal reduced. I have to get my act together before I can ask for leniency. I know I can't show him I've been working the program when I haven't and the scale shows it. I'm stepping up my efforts and I hope my challenge at the gym will get me to goal. 40 lbs in 8 weeks? I would so win that thing... I really enjoyed seeing everyone. It was so good to talk with people who have struggled with The Doc and know how to deal with him. I'm looking forward to these next few months. I hope to be banded before May 12th, that would be my anniversary of my orientation. Oh, and I finally but the Wii balance board on the floor! lol. I did 20 minutes of Wii Fit, and I started the Jillian Michaels game too. I really hate that the Wii Fit makes little sad noises when I step on, like "oh my.. that's heavy" and I hate that it does the bmi and then says "that's obese" I know that! And... (one more) I hate hate hate that my little Mii is normal looking, then it weighs me and my Mii get's all plumped out-and seems to waddle when she tries to run. Wii Fit is Rude! Anyway, I was glad to finally whip out the Wii, and I did 50 minutes on the elliptical.

Tamra Tamra Tamra! Don't make tomorrow be your fresh start. Start over RIGHT NOW. Make good decisions for the rest of the day, do an extra workout to overcome your guac habit. Don't wait for tomorrow! *Now if only I'd take my own advice! lol.

Reggie, tonight was just what I needed! My fella loved his dinner too, he commented on it about 3 times. (That's mad props) It was so nice to see everyone. It was great to get so many non-Sac people too! We sure did miss Nicole, Tina, Maria and everyone else!

I've always had large calves. I do have a pair of knee-high boots from Torrid, if only they made ski boots! Seriously Laurel, that's horrible! You always feel like the salespeople think that, but to have one say it! Yikes! I wasn't the only one with boot trouble, there was an average size woman who had to return her boots because they were too small, it just sucks! I woke up this morning with red, swollen shins. Worst ski trip ever! Even worse than the time my brother and cousin both broke their ankles and had to be dragged down the hill in a tobbagen by ski patrol. lol.

I just finished reading. Whew... stupid emergency maintainance! Candra- Lmao about the hoochie dress & ski boots! I just asked the guy if I could "duct tape the sh*t out of them". He didn't think it would work well. Today was just a bad day. It reminds me that I'm not where I want to be and that I really need to work at this. (Even though I ate chips, a handfull of broken cookie pieces & some cookie dough) I even wrote down the "Exercise is NOT NEGOTIABLE" quote. I haven't been to the gym in over a week. I need to live that quote. And I need to remember that every bite counts. I'm still trying to figure out my hoochie goal outfit. I like the backless shirt idea, they were way popular when I was in high school. It's time for me to go to bed. Maybe I'm not sleeping enough and that's why my scale is brutal.
