  1. My program said they DO NOT do both at the same time and I'd have to do the gallbaldder first, then 6 weeks later I could have the sleeve. BUT when I talked with my actual surgeon, he said it would be no problem to do both at the same time and he'd like to do a single incision through the belly-button.
  2. Yeah.... they aren't so friendly at Richmond. And they definately won't do aftercare if you didn't have surgery with them. I'm not a fan of Richmond either.
  3. I thought it was thicker than it used to be! They also have a vanilla flavor, I don't know if it's new or just new to me. I can't decide if I like it or not.
  4. I just talked to a fellow sleeveie about this yesterday who suggested if you're going on a cruise after surgery, wait at least 2-3 months after. The effects of motion-sickness on a newly sleeved tummy didn't even occur to me (I'm not prone to motion sickness and didn't have a problem on my last cruise over 10 years ago). I'm cruising the last week of May, so I'm hoping for a miracle and a surgery date in March, or I'll have mine done in June.
  5. EA Active is the best. I haven't tried the new Active 2 yet, I'm getting that soon. Even without the wii fit board, the Active game is a real workout!
  6. I'm in the same boat (ship? lol) I'm going on a cruise at the end of May and figure I might get scheduled for surgery in April... perhaps I'll have to delay it until I return, I'd hate to have zero energy on a trip I've been planing for over a year.
  7. I just watched one on youtube. It's fascinating! Actually the first sleeve surgery video I've watched. I'd be a little nervous about bungee-cording my liver up like that, but hey... if my surgeon wants to do it, I would probably go for it.
  8. I've been having gallbladder attacks and was told by my surgeon's office that I MUST take care of my gallbladder first. They won't do them both at the same time. He said it's much safer to go under anesthesia twice, than to be under for a long time. I was told the surgeries could be approx 6 weeks apart.
  9. I've heard great things about Dr Alami at SSF. If I switch, I'm requesting him. I think Stacey has Dr. Le. You should check out verticalsleevetalk.com for the Kaiser Richmond Board. Yeah... no one at Point West last week?! I was working that morning but I showed up at the end. Things have been crazy with tons of overtime at work. It's a mixed blessing. I'm happy to get caught up in the office and I'm thrilled to get the CTO, but now I'm working 11 hour days, and working every other Saturday. And I'm working on my 9/80 too. I'm not cooking or exercise like I want to, but the overtime won't last forever. How are my ladies? I miss you all!
  10. Just got back from walking the dog. It is so cool out tonight! I could have easily worn long pants and been comfortable. Doing good Ash! Keep it up! I only know one person (besides you guys) with a sle.eve. She's 2 or 3 years out and doing fantastic. Congrats miss size 14!!!
  11. Hello friends! My computer died recently, well the computer has been super slow for over a year and the monitor finally died for sure. My cell phone was jealous, and wants to go to electronics heaven with my computer. It's like the universe is trying to keep me from communicating! Went out and bought a new laptop this morning and I'm now all caught up on all things lbt! Donna- Sorry I didn't make it to the meeting/bday lunch! I'm hoping I can make it next month. I miss you all, I'd love to do a walk soon (Vallejo, not the valley- too hot here!). My Saturdays seem to be booked through the end of summer! I'm just a busy bee over here. Hope you're all doing well. Pam-Glad you got the unfill. Are you feeling better being unfilled?
  12. I wanna go on bike rides too! I need a bike first. Better work on that. lol. April- Still thinking about you! How great that Donna was there too!
  13. Tina- It was my understanding talking with Chrissy last night that April went in for a fill or unfill and when they took fluid out, she was in severe pain. She said she felt a pulling sensation. They admitted her right away.
  14. If I recall, April has been banded about 2 1/2 years. Some people erode very quickly. One of the bloggers I follow was banded and had erosion in only a few months. Very scary stuff. Mo- I love that, marking your spot! I might have to do that the next time I have so much to read.
  15. Here's the link for the Tri Girl Tri (all women's triathalon in Napa- Oct 9) Events – Tri Girl Tri All Womens Sprint Triathlon – Details – Enviro-Sports
  16. Anyone else notice all the cell phones blowing up at the meeting Saturday? It's like every phone in that room got call after call. I thought there was a meteor headed our way and everyone else had inside knowledge or something! John- I did talk with him, and he's standing firm. He's a total hardass. He told me my diet was good (I had a year's worth of food logs for him). Actually, he said my food log was good if I were normal weight, but to lose I needed to cut out all fruit except for apples, all yoghurt and cheese, all cereals (including cream of wheat per the 1200 diet) and reduce my morning protein by 1/3.
  17. Hi Ladies & John! It was so nice to visit with Tina, Donna and Pam again. I saw you Ali! You snuck out early but I did a mental "hello" to you! And it was great to meet Stacy too. Tina, we were wondering how your daughter was doing with all those surgery pics! Sometimes there was no reason for the ladies to be without bra (esp the ones where there was no work done on that area) but some of those pics were amazing! Tina- How did the seminar go? I was really bored with her for those couple of minutes she spoke to the group, maybe I was just anxious to talk with my ladies since we didn't get to break into groups yesterday. Hi Christine! (I see you down there) Hope we can plan a nice walk soon. We were thinking we should go to Vallejo since it's just too darn hot in the valley. Maybe I'll host a walk in the fall when it's a little cooler.
  18. That would be me. Doc Fisher told me that, but it may not apply to everyone. I guess they figure if your over 300 lbs in your early 20s, you've got a problem. Dr Fisher told me (about 6 weeks ago) if I got down to 190, he'd do any surgery I wanted (band, rny, slee.ve). He's been discouraging the band from the start, told me he thinks RNY is better for me. But I'm stubborn, and I don't want my insides re-routed. If they do discontinue the band, maybe I'll join the John/Chrissy/Ash team. Who knows. Maybe I should try the Kaiser medical program with the Optifast. Probably should try EVERYTHING before I have surgery. Can't wait for the Point West meeting on Saturday! I've missed you all so much!
  19. Remember Tina's too-tight experience? If you're too tight, don't count on losing a few lbs for it to loosen up. The opposite can happen, you can irritate your stomach causing swelling, making the band even tighter. Mo, can you get Water down? How about other foods? I know I've had problems with Vitamins getting stuck (And I don't even have a band yet! Don't know how that happened). If you are serious about being too tight, don't let that turn into an ER visist.
  20. Cole- How old are you? I had some age related stuff come up with Doc Fisher. (I'm 26) Partly due to my age, part due to me being childless. For all the new folks, I've been in the process with Richmond for over a year now. Doc Fisher gave me a pre-surgery weight loss goal of 84 lbs. I lost 50 lbs quick, but I've been struggling for the past 6 months or so. I'll be at Point West next weekend! It feels like it has been so long since we've seen each other (Because it has!) I'm hoping we can do a walk soon too. I want to have everyone over, but I have to get this darn house in order. We finally finished putting the last two doors on today. We took all the doors down before we moved in so we could paint them, and never got the closet door or the guest bathroom door on! Little by little we're making this house our home. Took the puppy for a walk today, we did 26 minutes according to my pedometer. He's a small dog, and it's only his 3rd walk. I'm going to get him going on much longer walks with me, but we've got to work up to that.
  21. Doc Fisher told me if I get down to 190 (BMI 32) He'd still do surgery. He explained that it's not just a weight-loss tool, but also a wait maintainance tool. A big Hello to everyone! I've been MIA for too long! It's been difficult to get to the computer lately. Trying to get a routine back with the gym etc, throw the new house and the dog in the mix (no, don't throw the dog!) and it's busy busy! Chrissy, I'm so glad surgery went well. You're gonna rock that sleeve! Gotta get to work, I'll try to read more and respond more tonight. Miss you all!
  22. Aaaannnd... DONE. I finally finished reading all the posts I've missed. That's right, I don't half ass it and skip this stuff, I've read every single page of this thread. All 804 pages. That doesn't make me sound too good. I swear, I sometimes have a life too! Congrats Ash! I'll be thinking about you tomorrow! Congrats Chrissy and Annalynn two more surgeries scheduled! Woohoo! I have not been following the 1200 calorie diet, tough to do with the move. I tried the first night we worked on the house and I had chicken and salad for everyone, they looked at me like I was punishing them. So, I fed my crew pizza, chips, cookies, donuts and everything else high-fat, high calorie, high carb. I didn't do a food log for the past two weeks, and didn't weigh myself until this morning. (The scale was left at the old house for a while) The scale seemed kind to me, I gained a couple of lbs (about 3) but sometimes I just fluctuate like that. I have only been to the gym once all month, but I was getting a ton of steps in. Moving day had my pedometer at 18000+ steps for the day. I'm hoping to have the house ready to invite everyone over for a walk and lunch sometime in the next month. It'll be a Saturday. I'll let you know!
  23. Hello friends! I'm finally back online, only took me 10 days or so. Still trying to read and catch up. Great to see Christine, Tina, and Jes posting again!
  24. We should be moving in this weekend. Finished touch ups of the ceiling, and painting baseboards today. I'm so glad to have those horrible tarps off my floors. The house already feels so much cleaner. Our dog's name is CONAN, THE POMERANIAN. (Like Conan, The Barbarian). Yeah... guess who named him? He was already named when I got home. He sure is a needy little sucker! I can hardly get on the computer. He doesn't wake us up at night, he sleeps in the crate in the family room and he'll whine for a little bit when we put him in.
  25. Wow! It's been so long since I've had that much to catch up on! Good to hear from Tina, Jes and Nicole! I've missed you ladies! Just like old times! Still exhausted, this new puppy is taking all the extra energy I have after dealing with the house. (our paint count is now up to 22 gallons- Yikes!) I really should go to bed now, I don't have that much time to sleep anyway!
