  1. I thought this would be a good topic considering that it is 4th of July today and there will be lots of barbeques, and TONS of food everywhere! For all of the bandsters, how do ya'll do it? Do you just get to a point where you don't feel tempted by all the yummy food around? And I was wondering also, when you go to someone's house for say Thanksgiving or something, and they have cooked so much food, and they don't know you have a lap band, do they look at you like you are rude if you don't pile it on your plate like everyone else? I know in our culture, people almost expect you to eat a lot, or they take it personally like you don't like their cooking. Discuss....:hungry:
  2. I worry about the big head issue too...my daughter and I refer to them as lollipops. I will trade my big ass for a big head any day though! *LOL*
  3. That makes me sad about Ann too, she is beautiful and I love her voice. But, if she is happy then that is good. I love heart! fabfatgrl~ You said about Sharon Osborne~ "I remember reading somewhere that her PBing drove Ozzie nuts" I am still new to this...what does "PBing" mean?
  4. I agree with many of you that Star should have just come out and said something about it, it does seem as if she was being dishonest with the public and while I can respect that it is a personal journey, I think she really could have helped a lot of people...I mean, she had no problem taking everyone on her excruciating to watch journey of her damn wedding! :blah:
  5. Randi~ Do you know how they assign you surgeon to you? Is it just random or can you pick the one that you want?
  6. Thanks for the info July5forMe and I will be thinking of you in a few days when you begin your journey to the *new you*! Keep in touch, I am glad that I am meeting people in my area like you. Let me know how everything goes!
  7. The seminar that I went to today was for http://www.southwestbariatric.com/ Does anyone have any info about them? I liked what I heard and am starting the process with them.
  8. Well, I went to the seminar today and decided that this is definitely what I want to do. I felt very happy because they said that my insurance usually goes through without any problems and fairly quickly...quickly meaning a few months as opposed to a year or more, that is a relief! Now I just start the process with my patient advocate, so here I go! I am sure that I will be in here a lot, asking questions, and counting down until I can finally become one of you! I looked at the *example* patient that they had speak to us, who has lost 76 pounds since September and thought to myself that I cannot wait until I am at the same place he is. Wow...I am so excited! By the way...how do you post those ticker things that all of you have?
  9. Okay...what is the barium swallow? *LOL*
  10. Thank you Becky! I feel happy about it already....I have skinny friends who could never even comprehend what this feels like for me...I hate them! (just kidding) Where are you from? I am from Texas!
  11. Hi! I am new to the group and found this wonderful website today. I am at the very beginning stages of this. I am going to the seminar tomorrow, but have made up my mind that this is what I want to do. I have so many questions...if ya'll could answer any of them, it would be a big help! 1. How long did it take you from the beginning of the process to get your lap band? 2. What about the loose skin issue? How has that been for you? 3. Do you think insurance companies are getting better about approving this procedure? 4. Is it weird to not eat as much now? Is there a lot of adjusting psychologically after you have this done? Congratulations to all who have lost so much weight, I am totally inspired by all of you!
