  1. LOL!! I meant september! I must have been thinking about Thanksgiving!
  2. I want one of those sparkly names for the September bandsters!
  3. Just a little update. I've started sleeping on the heating pad every night and most of the shoulder pain is gone. I still get it sometimes during the day, but not as bad as it was!
  4. I was at one month day before yesterday. I have lost 23 pounds since the surgery, and 15 pounds on the preop diet. I am only able to eat about 6 ounces at a time.
  5. I was banded a month ago, and I no longer feel the port when I move. It was almost like the stitches were pulling. But, I don't feel anything like that anymore.
  6. My dr has told me no carbonation ever again. I'm okay with that. I was a diet pepsi addict. I would drink a 2 liter a day, no problem... and I still want a sip occasionally, but I'm not putting my pouch/health at risk for a pepsi. I don't see this pouch as something to test and see what I can get away with.. that defeats that purpose. That is why I've never successfully kept weight off, because I always cheated and tried to see what I could get away with.
  7. I'm eating a lot of fish and chicken. I try to be more creative with my veggies. I'm enjoying a lot of baked sweet potatoes right now.
  8. Well, at least I'm not alone! Sorry that you are in pain!
  9. I had a fill scheduled for today, but I cancelled it. I'm having some shoulder pain, and since going on solids, I can only eat 6 ounces of food at a time. 3 six ounce meals a day are satisfying me, so I don't feel that I need a fill at this point. My dr said that my stomach was very fatty, and that is where I'm getting restriction from now. So, how much are you eating? Do you have a 'I'm full' signal? Mine is chest pressure.
  10. No, shame on me, I've not been walking much. The chronic pain has just left me exhausted. I will start back to doing my walking tomorrow morning. Hopefully that will help. I'm wondering if my tubing is rubbing my diaphram or something??
  11. I was banded on 9/14/09 and haven't had any fluid put in my band yet. Right now, I can eat about 6 ounces of food and that is it. I've not tried to eat any of the 'bad' food like white bread or anything like that.
  12. I am keeping a picture journal on my computer, but I don't upload pictures because I work for children's services and DO NOT want a client to run across information like that online. I do enjoy watching other people's progress online though, it is wonderfully motivating.
  13. I was banded on 9/14 and within the last week, I have had chronic shoulder/neck/ear pain. It is on the left side, the under my shoulder blade in the back, up my left neck and in my left ear. I know from reading the boards that this is the 'referred pain' from my stomach and diaphram and it will eventually go away, but I just wondered if anyone else is dealing with it? I slept with a heating pad last night and that made the shoulder pain go away, but the ear and neck pain are still there this morning. I'm going to pick up a heating pad to keep in my chair at work, and hopefully that will help too!
  14. Mine starts hurting at about 2am, every morning and hurts until I about 5am, or when I am up and moving. I'm exhausted! I tried liquid tylenol before bed, maybe I need to try it later in the night?
  15. I have the same thing. I had surgery on 9/14, and my port incision never closed completely. I was glued shut, not stitched and the glue came off of that incision very quickly. It has an opening about the size of a dime and it leaks puss and sometimes a little bit of blood all the time. I went to the surgeon, he said it was a surface infection, and gave me some cream for it. It just doesn't seem to be getting any better though.
  16. You've been my inspiration on this board from the first time I logged in! What is your exercise routine like? I find that hardest to get into the habit of doing.
  17. I have had to pay my $30 copays for my pre surgery dr appointments and stuff like that. But the hospital expenses were paid 100% by insurance.
  18. I just started walking today. I didn't exercise before the band, so I started out slowly. My husband and I went and walked a mile. I am planning on upping it 1/4 of a mile per week.
  19. When I woke up from surgery, I could feel a 'tightness' that made me think I could feel the band. Now, 2 weeks out, when I wake up of a morning, I have restriction and I can feel that, but it goes away after I drink my coffee. I guess I'm just one of those that is tight of a morning.
  20. I've been eating a lot of baby food prunes, they seem to do the trick for me.

  22. I used oil in mine. It just didn't taste right without it. Also, I felt that I needed the calories from the oil. I was getting virtually no calories just from broth and was so weak!
  23. I was in a lot of pain also, and I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance. I'm a week and a half out from surgery and my stomach is still swollen, especially around my port.
  24. I don't know when mine is yet. I have to go to a nutrition class first. My dr said that my stomach was very fatty, so it might be a while before I feel like I need a fill. I feel very restricted right now.
