  1. Thank you so much Holly Dolly, Sandybraman and Bellaloco - I think it is a good thing to think about not just having chocolate about and trying to deal wiht the craving by having something small, lower fat and even a more expensive chocolate so that it is actually a treat rather than just getting cheap chocolate to keep those horrible feelings at bay. I was quite intrigued by the chocolate better oats, but had a look and it isn't available here in Australia unfortunately I will definitely keep an eye out for something similar though and in the meantime just trying to manage the cravings bit by bit and be a bit forgiving of myself. I think you're right Hollydolly - life is too short to be miserable as long as you live in a fairly healthy way and look after yourself it will be ok. Ooh, also was wondering, what sort of a calorie limit you stick to? I am quite lost with finding an appropriate limit for myself at the moment.
  2. I hadn't even thought of strenuous exercise, but that actually sounds like a very good idea. In the afternoon after work each day I walk from my work to my husband's (about 4km) and on the days I do that I feel wonderful afterwards and the evenings are great. Perhaps a walk in the morning would be good too - and that would start me off on a better footing? I will certainly try that and see how I feel if I have done that. Perhaps if I ask him to drop me off further from work and I walk part of the way or if we do a walk with our dog before leaving in the morning that will make a difference? I think that I do have a problem with sugar as well as caffeine so it is going to be a double whammy to cut them both out but hopefully the endorphins from the exercise and having something alternative there to eat/drink will help me to get through it. I'm so grateful for all of your help xx
  3. Oh I really need help. I crave chocolate all the time, it is worst in the morning though. Before I eat chocolate I am full of anxiety - physically my legs shake and jiggle, I feel stressed and unable to focus at work, but after I eat some start to feel better. Of course it isn't long before I feel sick though as I have such limited capacity in the mornings. What can I do? I want to cut chocolate out but can't cope with the anxiety and shakes - what is wrong with me???? Why am I so weak and pathetic?
  4. Well that is an idea - I will try that tomorrow. I used to drink a lot of tea each day but after seeing that I was shaking, etc and sleep was difficult so I switched to drinking de-caf tea instead so perhaps having one caffeinated one in the morning would make the difference? Not sure . . . Although maybe I just need to find some way of coping with the anxiety and physical symptoms each morning and get through it without having to rely on another 'quick fix'? Just quite confused about this.

  6. I have felt so alone about all of this, but my hubby and I started trying to conceive back in February and since then have had two early miscarriages . . and then last month I got an ovulation test and my last cycle we pinpointed a good time to try to conceive and . . 'tried'. I am now a week late so was excited that maybe we were finally pregnant but have just started spotting this afternoon and I'm devastated. I want to cry and scream and . . . oh I don't know. I'm just very tired and emotional I suppose and I'm so exhausted after this year. I want to try and stay positive but am finding it really hard at the moment
  7. Hello lovely ladies, I stumbled upon this thread and was happy to read that others are obviously going through some of the things that I have. 8. well . . I'm a week late now. My nipples are changed, my breasts feel really big, seem to always be tired, quite nauseous and I can keep barely any food down so am back on Soup. I was going to the doctor today for a blood test to see if I'm pregnant but just got a call from the practice to say that the doctor is sick so I have to wait until Monday to go in now instead. Hmph. Hate the waiting.
  9. Thank you for your message Tracey. I have always been good at looking on the bright side but it has been pretty hard lately. Hopefully all of these bad feelings and difficulty will be made worthwhile when I do have a baby some day though I hope all is going well with you
  10. Goodness me these have been some bumpy months. The second pregnancy I had ended at 9 weeks - another early miscarriage. We just stopped trying for a month and I just had massages, did exercise and tried to make my body well again. Now I'm waiting for my next period, which is due tomorrow. I have had pains in the last week and every day have been so tired - even being a bit dizzy some days, so have wondered if we have conceived yet again. I don't want to get too excited in case I'm not . . or in case I am and we lose it again. This is so much harder than I was ever prepared for.
  11. Thank you so much everyone, I really appreciate your feedback. I've actually found it hard to eat lately . . at least to eat consistently, and have been wanting nothing more than to be in bed the moment I get home from work. I spoke to my mum who has had a miscarriage before as well and she said that my body is recovering and that understandably my hormones are all over the place - that in time it will get easier, not to lose hope too much but just look after myself and think about the future a bit more and not to dwell on the past too much. I'm just going to have an early night and hope that tomorrow is a bit easier
  12. I feel like such a huge failure. This may not be exactly the right forum for this but I really wanted to let it out. I started out by getting my lapband in June last year, a few months after my wedding day - when I weight 122kg's. I now weight 91kg's having lost 31kg's (that's around 68lbs) I haven't actually lost weight for the last few months though. I'm so sick of myself, bouncing between confident and depressed and having so much trouble keeping myself on track. This year after the 30kg's my husband and I decided to try for our first baby and now I have to say that we have had two early miscarriages and I'm thoroughly frustrated and lost. My husband wants us to stop trying for a month or so for me to recover a bit but all I can think is that we need to keep trying. I don't know, guess I'm just frustrated and upset overall - feel like I should have done much better and need to work harder at everything.
  13. Thank you so much! I will do just that  And thank you for your support.
  14. Thank you :w00t: Well the doctor found a positive in my urine test and is doing a blood test that I'll hear about on Monday - just to confirm how far along we are. I'm so excited!! It's just the few days wait for formal confirmation and then we can think about when we'll tell people and all that. I have called my surgeon and am going to go in as soon as I can to have some Fluid taken out of my band and from there start including a little more food and drink in my day for the bub
  15. Thank you for the luck  The result wasn't very clear - I think I'll wait another week and then test again just to be sure!
  16. Thank you :smile2: I will! I am now five days late with my period and have noticed the last few days a lot of pressure and soreness in my tummy at times through the day, am running to the bathroom to wee almost all the time and feel . . i don't know, 'different'. Am going to take a pregnancy test tomorrow morning and then see the doctor if it's positive. Wish me luck!
  17. Oh dear, i want to have a bit of a vent. A month or so ago I had a miscarriage - our little one was only about four weeks along so very very early, but I am still not feeling quite right. (emotionally I mean) and have been crying whenever I really stop to think about it. I feel guilty and stupid for being so upset so early when realistically many people would not even have known that they were pregnant at the point that I miscarried, but it feels like such a huge blow. After a week or so of feeling out of things and abandoning healthy eating or any exercise last week I started feeling good and even did a little halfhour session at the gym a few times and on other days had good walks. Then this week every morning I have had pain under my port (as if from too much pressure in my tummy) and feeling so emotional all over again. What does this mean? I have suspected maybe I'm pregnant again but don't want to get my hopes up again. If I'm not maybe this is something else I'm just failing at. It's so upsetting and hard - why did I not expect this? I was shocked at the amount of pain that came with miscarrying but now that seems to pale with how I feel day to day and I want an outlet but feel so stupid talking about it.
  18. wow - I am so glad to have stumbled upon this thread. I am having so much trouble eating in the morning . . for a while there all I could manage was a Multivitamin and even that was really hard. Then I'd scramble eggs or even try an omelette and one bite of either left me uncomfortable and almost upset with the pain in my throat or high in my chest. The last three or four days I have vomited so much, at times I think that I made bad food choices (out of frustration and being so sick of trying all the time and still ending up with trouble), but I think I need to slow down and take tiny steps and start on sloppy foods again until I feel my body is handling it ok. I was so mad at myself today, feeling irritable and grumpy with everyone around me because my body was so tired and hungry.

  20. Thank you all for your advice! Particularly in regards to the dangers of so much vomiting. It feels like I am doing damage to my teeth. I emailed my surgeon and he said to go to soft foods/liquids until my appointment on tuesday when he will take some Fluid out of my band and arrange an xray for me to make sure that there is no more sinister problem. I have been away on a driving holiday wiht my husband these last three weeks so it's great to be home and to be able to work out how to fix these problems. I also haven't weighed myself since we went away so I'm really hoping to see a lower number on the scale. (kind of afraid to check!)
  21. Lately I have been either coughing and vomiting after meals or the food has felt stuck before eventually going down and it hurts the whole time. Is this normal?? I had a fill around five weeks ago and it was ok then got worse. Have another appointment with the surgeon in a few weeks but just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this?

  23. I am . . . let's see . . . 7 months in. I have lost 25kg's now or thereabouts (that's 55lbs to those of you who know that measure better) and just had a fortnight of up and down moods, anger and depression that I am still so far from my goal and even hatred at my lack of control. I still snack on chocolate at work even though the second it is in my mouth it tastes awful and makes me feel sick and lethargic. My exercise has improved, I have a walk in town at lunchtimes usually, except for the days I do a weights class at the gym (that's either once or twice a week depending on how my back is feeling) and I have stretches I do at home to help my inner core strengthen and improve my stability. To be honest I think I was intent on the exercise mostly because it was making me feel healthier. But I feel like I am really sabotaging myself - still eating chocolate at work and having to fight so hard not to buy that sort of thing - chocolate, pastries and bread (even though I know it makes me sick now), icecreams when my husband is not with me. How can this be? I know it physically hurts me now to do these things but I find it so hard to fight the urge to give in - to the point the other day where I struggled for half an hour in the supermarket before marching myself to the checkout and forcing myself to leave (and ending up in tears in front of the cashier because I wanted that food so much and the illogical part of me felt it would help!). Has anyone else been through this? Have you been unable to really recognise your progress and been sabotaging yourself so badly? I feel like such an idiot for this.
  24. Thank you for your post Betsy  Your words have put my mind at rest for certain and I plan to be proactive and if there are things worrying me about my back particularly (I have been being treated for lower back problems but the weight loss has made a big difference) I can talk to the doctor and they can tell me the best plan of action. My friend who had similar problems through pregnancy suggested a strong reinforcing band around that area that you can get at the physio which would really help. In the meantime keeping up the exercise and those 'inner core' strengthening stretches will hopefully help. So maybe I will put on a little bit of weight - that's ok as long as I can still hold myself upright and have times of relief from pain. I just want to be the best mum I can be (probably something every single new mum will want) - so I will do all that I can. And you are right it is an absolute miracle that you create a child and help him/her grow those first nine months. I'm looking forward to it very much :smile2: I have watched two of my sisters-in-law and one sister go through pregnancy and witnessed c-section recovery, babies who won't turn, a very large baby, long labour, problems with breastfeeding, teething, money worries . . . all of these stressful parts of the new baby's life but I've also seen so many wonderful things that make me realise how much I really want to get there too
  25. I have been having a bit of trouble trying to wrap my head around something. It's to do with trying for a baby. My usband and I are planning on trying for a baby this year (starting soon) and although I am so excited and happy about the potential to start our family I feel like I'm so stressed and worried. Is it likely that I will regain all the weight I have lost so far and get back all the back pain that has gone? Will I be strong enough to deal with everything that is to come? Mostly I am terrified that all the good that I have done by losing the last 25kgs and the hard work I'm doing to try to strengthen my body and make sure that those joint problems and my back pains don't take over my life as they used to. What happens if my body just goes back to being the problem that it was before and as a result our little baby suffers - that I can't do all I need to do to keep him/her healthy and happy and can't be the active mum that I have been longing to be? I feel like I would be letting down our little one from the beginning. I would be grateful for any advice!!
