  1. Hey IWBAL, Definitly call tomorrow. That doesn't sound right. Although I've had my band seem to get tighter 2 weeks after a fill instead of right away. I'm learning that it's definity not an exact science.
  2. Do good intentions count? Right now I'm enjoying the cool bug free fall season and walking in the park a lot. Getting kinda cold for biking. I'm seriously considering getting a wii fit, but holding off due to my track record of good intentions and no follow through. I have my membership at the YMCA which while it does add some wieght to the purse I carry does me no good when I don't use it. I do plan to start to use it.. I even have my classes picked out that I want to try...
  3. Thanks Diva! It's only since my last fill that the pounds have started to come off, so be patient, it will happen!
  4. Great that a support group might be developing! I did the survey. Anyone getting a fill tomorrow? I'll be there for 4:30.
  5. yah.... that last one just sits right in the throat. It's either a get rid of it, or be uncomfortable with it for 2 hours deal. fun time!
  6. Ok I have a few list of protein rich foods. What I need now are some ideas from people and suggests for someone who doesn't cook very well. How do you put the protein sources together. What are your most frequently used sources?
  7. I worry about eating out as well. I'm in Medical Sales as well and constantly eating out. I have a meeting to go to next week that is going to be stressful! 3 meals a day for 4 days catered and provided by the company. no food choices. I'm sweating thinking about it already. Half tempted to get an unfill before I go! Suggestions on how to handle this would be great!
  8. I used to get port pain...little twinges here and there. My doc said it was scar tissue forming around the port. I'm 5 mths post opp and don't feel them anymore.
  9. Doesn't hurt me a bit. Miss it a ton, have it a couple of times a week, but still a huge improvement over th 4-5 I used to have a day.
  10. I just started with the daily plate on livestrong.com and it tells me to eat over 2000 cal a day inorder to lose 2 pounds a week. this is based on my current weight of 219. I am eating less than that and my weight loss has stalled, so I'm wondering if I am not eating ENOUGH and that's what's caused the weight to plateau.
  11. Me too! Daily plate said eat way more than I am. I'm wondering if that thing is way off? Then again, I've been getting about 1200 cal a day for the last 5 days and have not lost a pound. So now I'm wondering am I not eating enough and my body is going into starvation mode to hang on to what it's got? Ahhh! This is all so confusing!
  12. Hi IWBAL, You're a freak of nature! lol jk, I don't get that, but I'm sure you're not alone.
  13. Ok, here's a silly question. I think I"m almost there with my fills, this last one has me chewing very well and eating slow, but I can still eat way more than a cup. What does full feel like?
  14. Anyone going for fills this coming tuesday? My appointment is at 5:50.
  15. Yikes that sucks! I had a similar thought occur to me. I'm not at the right restriction yet and I'm totally dieting and working my tush off to get some of the ponds off. my concern is that they will not fill me because I'm losing weight, yet all the weight loss has to do with me and not my band. These guys need to take you seriously. Do they do it under fluoro? (sp) I've read some docs do fills that way and they can learn more about it.
  16. I was the same. I was banded in April of this year. Until 2 weeks ago I felt almost no restriction. Now I think I'm getting close, I need one more fill I think. PATIENCE is the key to this. I have to warn you, if you were anything like me it could be months, But it does work, you just have to be patient. Hang in there!
  17. Centrum Chew-ables for me as well. There is a good calcium supplement called caltrate and it comes in a chew format in chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. They are yummy!
  18. Hey Lori, how did the fill go? Does anyone know about flouro fills? I'm reading it on some of the other threads. Their docs do the fills under flouro to help them reach a good fill level. Does the maples ever do that? Has anyone had experience with it? Also does anyone know how much Maples charges for a fill after the year is up? I never thought to ask that question.
  19. Curious minds want to know.. how much do they charge you for a fill?
  20. Hi All. Not going for a fill until next tuesday. Any word on the new Nurse at Maples? How she's doing? Last time I went I had to wait a couple of hours for the doc's as she couldn't do mine. I don't want a repeat of that again!
  21. Yay Tammar! Great job!
  22. and what the hell was that good wife bad wife thing? Seriously??? Like those girls don't have bad enough self esteem to begin with they have to tear them down just a little bit more? And wife? What about career woman? Why doenst' have have to take bad husband good husband. sheesh. yet i'm watching the show.... lol
  23. Hi Mandine. I know how you feel. I felt the same. "If I can do all of that I wouldn't need the band!" I guess the trick is view the band as a tool and not a solution. Here's what it does for me, now that I'm at a fill level that seems to be effective. 1)Slows down my eating big time. This keeps me from the mindless munching I like to do in the evenings. 2)Gives my body a chance to feel full before I over do it. 3)Keeps me fuller longer. 4)I am mindful of what I buy at the grocery store. I am trying hard to find high protein items that are filling and trying to avoid slider foods. Here's what it doesn't do. 1)won't keep me from buying and eating slider foods. If I'm determined to eat crap.. I will eat crap. This is one that dissapointed me. I was unhappy that I will still have to utilize self control, especially when it comes to the "good stuff" 2)It doesn't change my head hunger. I have years and years of bad eating habits to overcome. I used food and over eating a coping stratagy and have noticed that I'm getting a bit depressed now having my stratagy interupted. Those two are my biggest downfalls. I look at it this way. The band is taking care of the physical difficulties I had with eating. ie eating fast, mindlessly and too much. But I need to address the head issues. I am doing that by going to councelling. Hope some of that helps!
  24. Congrats Mandine! To answer your hair loss question. Yup. I went through about a two week period where I started to wonder if I should stop combing my hair! It was coming out big time. I've made sure I'm more diligent with my vitamins and that seems to have helped. I've been at a plateau for a while now. I lose 3 gain 3. I'm hoping this last fill will have done the trick and I'll start to lose.
