elcee reacted to Lyndor in Rapid weight gain following Gastric Bypass 10 months ago
I don't want to be rude or abrupt, but as you've already failed on your VSG 5 years ago, why are you not fully invested in this second chance?? All WLS stomachs stretch out over time and it seems like you are blaming it for your gain, when in fact that's a natural process and it'll certainly be sped up if you continue to make terrible nutritional choices. The only person who can stop you eating KFC is you. I am 18 months post op sleeve and everyday I record my nutritional intake, because I am an ADDICT but there is no way I'm going back. I was so miserable, and I am completely free now. The VSG just gave me the push out the door, I have to do ALL the work. Forever. That's the deal. Exercise and eat well. I still have treats... like a chocolate date. Not pasta!

I would suggest you take a long hard look at yourself, and realise that you're the only on who can change this. You need to acknowledge you have issues around food and not blame your surgery for your failure. Seriously. Get some support around you, TRACK your food using a calorie app religiously, start exercising and get yourself to a psychologist pronto.

Vegemite is yummy. A thin scraping on buttered toast with a poached or scrambled egg or with grilled cheese = delish. The problem is most non Aussies or Brits ( they eat Marmite and it’s very similar ) don’t know how to eat it. They spread it on thick like they would PB and that is gross. It’s a bit like wasabi, less is more.

Having any op is scary but when you have an experienced surgeon it shouldn’t be something you need to fear. Living with a bypass is fine. I feel like a perfectly normal person except I eat smaller portions and I’m now officially skinny! To me a bypass was far less scary than a sleeve and you already had that. You need to do everything you can to avoid cancer.

Hope i'm not in the "men's" room... don't want to get fussed. brian10x... I'm thinking you're going to be ok... I'm thinking they mean, don't be hanging from the rafters or incorporating whips and chains... just yet.
My ex never had sex with me even after the WL the first time with the band..... so it was a non-issue. But it became an issue about a year are two after when my sex drive went through the roof and no one to "help" except myself... hehe.. One of the main reasons he is now my ex... after being married to him for 26 years
Now, the second time around... this past aug. and a completely diff. man... I think it was less than two weeks and i had to tie him down and take advantage of him... hehe
I say.... whack away my friend.....

I’m British although I now live in Australia and have also lived in South Africa so I don’t think that’s it.
What you need to do is relax. You had a big initial loss and now it has slowed down. That is normal. You are still healing, your body is in shock it takes time for everything to catch up.
Just keep following the diet that you have been advised to follow and the weight will come off.

elcee got a reaction from Losingit2018 in Lapband removal sleeved ???
I’m struggling to decipher what you have written. You had the band removed and thought you were sleeved but you weren’t ? Is that right? You are struggling to eat or drink. I find it hard to believe that a surgeon has diagnosed you with a twisted stomach and not fixed it. Normally a twisted stomach would be a medical emergency as the loss of blood flow would cause necrosis, infection and ultimately death.
And this has been going on since 2018? Please tell me what I’m missing.

I had a revision to RNY and it’s like the difference between day and night. No more getting stuck, no more chest pain and I can eat a lot healthier. Steak, chops, chicken, salad etc.
I still have to be careful of sliders and grazing but those are issues that we have to take individual responsibility for , they are not something any WLS will sort out.
Bands have fallen out of favour as they cause too many issues and also trying to find the correct balance between reducing hunger yet still being able to eat healthy foods is too hard.

Here are some things that happened and no one told me about:
I lost my boobs - like LOST them. They are down there somewhere. 42DD to 34A. I have to special order bras.
My bottom is so bony that it hurts to sit on hard chairs.
I had so much energy during the active weight loss and ketosis that I couldn't sleep. I was the energizer bunny on steroids.
I lost my food shelf - you know, that convenient bulge where you can put your plate when you sit in the recliner.
I had to buy a whole new wardrobe. Size 24 pants to 10.
I was actually comfortable this past summer in the heat.... but I am freezing all the time now.
I have saggy skin, but I lost my triple chin, my thighs don't rub, and no more fungal infections from folds and heat. My little grandson squeezes my upper arms and says, "Squishy."
I can't swim very well anymore. I just sink. I lost all my buoyancy.
I had to get a new wedding band.
I found new bones I didn't ever remember having - collar bones, ribs, hips.
But on the flip side, I don't have GERD, sleep apnea, or high blood pressure anymore. My HDL, triglyceride, and A1c numbers are awesome. I can sit in any chair in the room, my seat belt doesn't rub on my neck, I can walk, hike, and ride my bike for hours without stopping, my resting pulse rate is in the 40's, I can get down on the floor and get up by myself, my bath towel goes all the way around me plus extra left over, I am one of the smallest people in a room instead of the largest, my necklaces hang down onto my chest, I can buy clothes in any store and in regular departments, and people call me "skinny." Unbelievable!

This was cool for me. This surgery for me, wasnt just about losing the weight, but also about getting the body i always wanted. Im far from being there but im really starting to see results. I finally have shoulders and arms! I started crossfit 10 days after surgery. Mixed with running this is what ive stuck to and the results are really starting to show. Im 222 now but im also building muscle and still cutting the weight. I always do monthly progress pics and i decided to flex a little. I was shocked myself. I even had the two top abs. I couldnt believe it. I always wanted definition and its really starting to show, Im glad i could do this, while still cutting the weight. Cant wait to see what i look like at 199.

No, they don't remove anything. They DO rearrange some stuff, but it's all still there. Statistics show the bypass, as long as it's done laparoscopically, is no more risky than the sleeve. Recovery times are similar, although some people stay two nights in the hospital, like I did (I live 4 hours from my surgeon so asked for the extra night in case there was a problem).
The fullness affect are as different as night and day! With the lap band I was either not full or almost sick on my stomach. With the bypass I eat one half cup of food, and am pleasantly full without that sick feeling like I always had with my lap band. The feeling lasts for HOURS before I am hungry again, and it's never the raging hunger that I had with my band.
What ever you decide good luck, and remember we are here for you!

Weight loss always slows down as you get closer to goal. You have done really well so far don’t stress too much if the last bit comes off slower. You shouldn’t need to go to IF or similar at this stage. Rather focus on getting in Protein and good healthy carbs in small portions and keep moving. Also staying away from mashed potatoes may help, they are very easy to overeat.
    What is your BMI now?
