texasnewf got a reaction from Frustr8 in Venus insufficiency in leg
Has anyone had a venus insufficiency in their leg ? I just had an ultrasound at a vein specialist and that's what the technician said. I go to see the doctor this Friday about what the treatment will be.. I'm just curious, worried.. I just got all the clearance for my VSG surgery and now I found out this. My left toes have been numb for the last several months so I finally decided to get it checked. Just wondering what to do ?
Thanks

They have larger lift chairs. Measure sat width you need and place a few calls. Bet t would work!

My Granny Ada Blanche, may she rest in peace, had a saying " The Good Lord didn't ever make an itch, he didn't make a scratcher to fit it!" Translation- there is always an answer if you search for it. Check Medical Supply stores, are you a Veteran? Check with your county VA office, in my community both the Moose and Ambers have wheelchairs and such things, my uncle was a Moose and was able to get the loan of a lift chair, he was smaller but still had need of one. Maybe even your county Human Services could link you up with one. There are a lot of answers , I got my C Pao machine through Lincare, I recommend them highly for adaptive equipment. If one place turns you down ask them if they could suggest someone else. This is YOU you're fighting for, you deserve the best you can find! Good luck my Bari- Brother, I know an answer is out there!

texasnewf reacted to FluffyChix in GENEPRO clumps up in cup of soup
Any Protein clumps up in super hot things. Protein powders coagulate (looks yukky, tastes lumpy/icky, but is relatively safe) at around 140degrees. So you should only drink it "medium warm". LOL. I use an instant read on those occasions when I'm using it in Soup.

I tried the GENEPRO and as everyone said I cannot taste it which is great. The only issue is , that I use lukewarm Water in a coffee mug about halfway and stir in the Genepro with a fork and it completly dissolves. Then I mix in more water and stir in chicken bouillon powder and microwave it to heat everything up.. After a couple minutes sitting the Protein Powder starts to clump up a little.. Is this normal ? Thanks

I agree w the GENEPRO suggestion. I have been putting it in Tomato and broccoli cheese Soup as well as pudding. Can’t taste it at all. When I put it in soup I put 1 scoop into a half cup of soup for 30 gm of Protein. You can get it at GNC if you need it quicker than ordering online. -

I like this stuff. It works well if you mix it in a few ounces of warm Water with a fork as directed. You just add it to what ever cold or hot liquid after that and you can't hardly notice it's there.

I also use Isopure. I have been able to mix it in hot bouillon, I just mix it in my magic bullet with one or two pushes down. If you mix to much it does become foamy, the foam does slowly dissolve. I have found it hard to drink the Protein Shakes, but I really enjoy the bouillon.

I am doing it self pay in florida in December for $10,500

While I did self-pay for a different procedure, SIPS, it was 17K. When you go through insurance, while it saves you personally, the doctors and hospitals rip off the insurance company by charging $40-50K and so much more for the same procedure. I wouldn't factor in quotes from folks that went through insurance as those are mark up prices!

The price varies a lot. Insurance didn't cover mine, and I got mine done at a Center of Excellence for somewhere in the ballpark of $11,500-15,000. (There was a huge billing error, so I still don't know exactly how much it will end up being. Yeah, almost two months later. I'm pissed, believe me.)
Those scary-high prices you're seeing that they billed someone's insurance? Yeah, those showed up on my statement, too, but there are often discounts for people who are doing self-pay, where they cut those numbers in half, or even much lower.
Also, if you're willing to travel, apparently there are much cheaper surgeries available in Las Vegas and in Mexico.

Before you look into self-financing, check whether the ACA plans cover bariatric surgery in your state. It may be worth dropping an employer-backed plan and joining one of the ACA plans for the year, once you've worked out the costs. The ACA plans seem to have decided on bariatric coverage on a state-by-state basis, and some of those may have changed over the years, so make sure you're checking for insurance year 2019 in your state.
I believe enrollment is open until Dec 15, but don't wait until the last minute - do your research now and make a decision soon, sometimes the sites get overwhelmed by last-minute signups.
