Sleeved for 5 hours now!
Sometimes you see your parents have feet of clay, which is actually quite liberating when you have processed it. Rest assured you are not the first here, accept they can give what they are capable of, they still love you. Jane x

Joining You From Australia :)
Hi Ruth, Where in England were you from originally? The past year has made me realise exactly how much more than I needed I was eating. I think you will definitely manage to eat either the same or slightly more than your granddaughter but not for a good few months yet. We have our daughters Australian b/f staying with us at the mo, he's from Perth, and our Australian links are good. We plan to visit over Chrismas if we can. Jane x

Picking my doctor...Viva la Mexico
Why do they think you will feel sick all the time?? And tell your mum that you probably stand more chance of dying from the obesity!! It's only natural that the people who love you will be scared but you need to make your decision as it's your body and life when it comes to it. Jane x

Regrets?
No I am really happy now, I have my life back. I would do it again in the same situation. Still not completely used to being normal though! Jane x

Is VSG appropriate for me?
Yes you can and in your shoes I would go VSG. jane x PS Asthma is horrible isn't it. I had it since I was 5, now 51. It has been really bad in the past, I also have some elements of COPD as a result. However I now have no symptoms at all, and have stopped all meds!! I never thought that would happen!

Food Addiction
Hi Traute, I am so sorry you are having a bad time. I agree you need to do all those practical things the others ahave suggested but could you also ask your doctor to refer you to a therapist (not a support group) where you could get some help dealing with the reasons and triggers for your emotional eating? I think sometimes you need a two pronged attack on weight issues, after all we are sentient and if all your best physical efforts are being sabotaged by your brain, thats what needs attention next. I speak as someone who has had therapy, and I found it both times I had it to be very helpful. Much love. Jane x

Joining You From Australia :)
Hi Ruth, I am in the UK and only now are we getting more VSGers here too! I am nearly 15 months out and I think my capacity is pretty static now. I still have massive restriction, my surgeon aims for a final stomach size of 125cc-150ccs. He roughly uses a size 40 bougie guide to do this. I think we do not get pouch stretch like bypass patients do because we are left with only the muscular and nonstretchy side of the stomach, whereas bypass patients get a stomach made of the top part of the stomach including the stretchy part. At least that is how I understand it, so you cannot compare outcomes with bypass patients. All the best, Jane x (the Pom)

Stuck and depressed!
Hi Surfy, Can you log everything you eat on something like the DailyPlate? It may show unexpected results, I know it really helped me. Jane x

Please tell me your BMI and Bougie Size
Yay Cindy and Syacie, you are both so right. We should not be passive consumers of what others deem best for us. We have been given brains and the tools to research so we should. Jane x

tired and weak
Hi HH, I loved Dr Cierny and the team and I love my sleeve. I can't praise them and this op enough. i felt last year that I wa only fit for the knackers yard and could see a life pootling around in a mobility scooter beckoning. Now I am slim and normal and having a ball. the best thing is I am sure I can stay like this without massive amounts of will power being needed. You have made the right decision I am sure in getting this done. How much weight do you have to lose? Jane x :thumbup:

Major goal reached - time to party!
Breezy that is brilliant!! I am so pleased for you. Jane x

cholesterol, it just dawned on me
Globie, I love that quote!! And the film. I will get my bloods done as soon as I can get the NHS to do so and post the results. Ihave been doing a high protein, highish sat fats diets for over a year now and feel fantastic. I have researched the atkins claims and they make sense to me. Obviously if my LDH readings are bad I will recant and grovel!! Jane x

Frustrated...
Why not eat atkins day break bars, they are protein rich and taste nice. I also eat loads of chicken and steak. Why does it have to be liquid? I don't believe all this stuff about saturated fat. I have been eating this way with 2 eggs a day for over a year and I feel fine and have no signs of fatty deposits. I am defo going to get a cholestorol test and post my results. Atkins Position on Saturated Fat Jane x PS Check out the dietry requirements in France, its completely different according to JudyM!!!

tired and weak
Hi there, I'm in the UK & had mine done in the Czech Republic too! Terryfrances is right, you need to allow yourself to recover. Make sure you are drinking enough fluids, walking around as much as possible and when you feel the need to crash out just go with the flow and do it. No medals for fighting it  PM me if you want to chat further. Jane x

Please tell me your BMI and Bougie Size
Hi Christina, not now on the whole, but I did take a PPI for about a year. It was pretty uncomfortable for 3 weeks when I stopped, I had already gone from 30mg daily to 15mg daily, but then it all went OK. I took loads of gaviscon in those weeks, avoid tums and calcium carbonate based remedies because they trigger something called acid-rebound, which ultimately makes the acid worse. before the op I had dreadful indigestion and reflux, but i just lived with it, now I am fine except occassionally I eat something that disagrees and sets off heartburn. I think the issue about acid after the surgery is more to do with the pressure from below in the stomach and the strength of the muscles between the stomach and the oesophagus stopping the acid from rising. Hope this helps, Jane x

What is wrong with me?? :(
By the way I had my teeth cleaned and deplaqued at the dentist prior to my surgery and they nearly cancelled it because my white blood cell count was too high. We think this was due entirely to the dental hygenist scraping around and introducing debrie into my blood system. So leave plenty of time between the two procedures. Jane x
