  1. Welcome Sharon and Good Luck to you, Michelle!!
  2. the beauty of it is, if you have proper restriction, at least when you do turn to food as an emotional crutch, you will not be able to go overboard with your eating as the band will not let you. I totally agree with this...and speaking for myself, I already saw a therapist before I started my lap band journey and will continue to see her as I learn to live with my new tool and my new life.
  3. I haven't any idea what could be making you have that sensation when you eat your pudding. I haven't had any problems with any soft foods, so it's foreign to me. I guess I would call your doctor tomorrow.
  4. I had 3 "last supper" dinners with friends before starting 2 weeks of liquids prior to surgery... I had DH take me out for a steak dinner at Applebees on 6/17. Then on 6/19 I had dinner at a local restaurant for their famous chicken tetrazzini on wild rice. Then on 6/20 I went to a local pub with a friend and had a good 'ol mushroom & swiss burger, no bun, extra shrooms and onion rings Started liquid 6/21.
  5. I think I can officially join the Gone for Good Club now H - 337 on 6/21/-6 S - 322.5 on 7/5/06 C - 316.4 on 7/12/06 -21.6 gone for good  I'm already weighing on Wednesdays as that was the day of my surgery last week and I want to track by the day of the week, so this will work out perfectly for me
  6. Congrats on the NSV!! I saw a friend today who saw me on surgery day and then again 3 days later. Today is 8 days out and she saw me this morning and said she could tell I'd lost. That was such a great feeling!!! I'm sure you were feeling quite proud as well! WTG!
  7. I'm an apple as well. After only 21 lbs gone in the past 3 weeks, I am noticing it in my face first. That's always where I notice it first. Then the shelf on top of my butt goes a bit before my stomach...then they take turns for a while. My doc said I carry my weight the better way in the tummy, low, away from my heart rather than higher up. It just takes longer to get into smaller pants because of my belly. AArrrggghhhh.....it's so frustrating...
  8. 1. You get hungry after a week or so. I was absolutely ravenous, but I found ways to eat Protein and still managed to lose 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I did a search for hungry and found this...I am one week out and I am absolutely ravenous, too! Why is that? I've had about 4 tsps of oatmeal yesterday and a serving of SF/FF pudding today. Otherwise it's only been shakes, popsicles, ice chips and Water, chicken broth, and Jello. Is it wrong to be eating anything of substance so soon? My doctor said I could introduce soft foods as I felt I could handle them. I had no trouble with those two things, but I sure felt guilty! I've lost 6.3 lbs in the week since surgery. Any ideas?
  9. Another July 5th bandster checking in... I will be weighing tomorrow for my official one week post-op weigh in, but as of this morning I'm down 6.3 pounds since surgery and 20.8 pounds since starting my liquid on June 21st. I had a bit of oatmeal yesterday, watered/milked down, and it was heaven. I had a SF/FF pudding about 8pm tonight and it was good, too. Otherwise I've been having Slim Fast shakes in the blender with milk and ice. They are pretty good. I have my post-op appt. on the 20th. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. I never had any of the gas problems some of you speak of.
  10. This is the first place I have actually posted my weight and not felt embarassed about it because we are all in this together, going through the same thing. My driver's license has NEVER been right.
  11. You're always so insightful, and RIGHT ON!! Thanks for telling it like it is
  12. My doctor told me I could introduce soft foods as I thought I could handle them. I was so hungry yesterday I had watered/milked down oatmeal - just a couple of spoons and it went down great and I was fine. I had liquid all day today and then about 8pm I had a SF Jell-O pudding and it was heaven and went down great. It's 11pm and now I'm growling again. I'll drink Ice water and then go to bed. We're only a week out - so hang in there! We can do this!
  13. Congrats on the NSV!! The chairs in our lunch room have arms on them and I can't wait to see what they feel like when I go back to school in the fall!
  14. Thanks for the information!! I'm going to B&N tomorrow.
  15. How do I get my hands on this book mentioned above: "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. The Author is a bandster." And also "Lap Band for Life" by Dr. Ortiz? Does anyone know where I can buy these?
  16. I'll be the first to welcome you, gotta be me! I was banded July 5th, just one day before you. Your story sounds a lot like mine. Only a cortozone shot into my heel for my plantar's facitis worked really well. I have bilateral degenerative osteoarthritis in both knees - the right one is bone on bone and needs to be replaced and the left one sometimes hurts worse than the right, but isn't bone on bone yet. I'm only 39, so hopefully by losing weight it will relieve the pressure on my knees and I may not need one quite so soon. I'll be using a recumbant bike for exercise because of my knees and not being able to walk long distances. I wish you all the best. Make sure and make your way over to the July 2006 thread. You'll find a lot of people going through exactly what you are right now. Good luck!
  17. I haven't had any of the gas problems...I'm almost wondering what is wrong that I'm not. I can breath deeply and feel the band when I get to the holding my breath part. I've belched quite well, but not anything painful at all. Thank GOD!! Keep walking and taking the Gas-X for those who are still having issues. I like that we're all in this together
  18. I was banded the same day you were and I'm feeling awesome! I am surprised how good I feel. I didn't have the gas pains, so that was a plus. I'm anticipating this coming Wednesday as I'm only going to weigh myself in 1 week increments. I was down 14.5 prior to surgery with the two weeks of liquid, so I'm anxious to see how much more I'm down 1 week post op. Good luck to you!
  19. I'm right with you, Donna - we'll all be fine I just keep telling myself that...
  20. Jessica, thanks for sharing your story. I'm being banded tomorrow. Good luck to you on Thursday Let us know how you're doing.
  21. I've been on a liquid diet since the 21st of June, on orders from the doctor. I was told that any weight loss would be a bonus, that this was to shrink my insides and liver for surgery. I couldn't stand the CIB, so they said I could do Slim Fast, which I already knew I liked. I added chocolate protein powder to the chocolate royale SF and blended it with milk and ice in a blender and it was good. I've been on clear liquids since Sunday and now I feel sluggish. Thank goodness I go to get banded tomorrow. Then I won't hungry anymore.
  22. Anything that can be crossed, is...congrats on movin' on! and movin' down!
  23. I'm right there with you, Sunshine! I check in at 9:30 tomorrow morning and will be in surgery at 11:40. I'm glad you liked your surgeon. I got a really great feeling from mine as well. He is best friends with my knee doctor, and my general practitioner knows him well, too. Good luck to you! See you on the other side
